Decided to pay tribute to the Aliens franchise again and create another ‘Casio’ mod tribute watch (version 2 on aftermarket watch).

Just a passion build, not for sale. Going in my private stash.

Today I received my copy of the Alien Omnibus by Dark Horse. It contains over 1,200 pages of pure lore and stories that were never told (such as the one about Hicks and Newt). I recommend it 100%.

Hour study, very very fun!!

The UD-4L class dropship, commonly known as the "Cheyenne", was designed by Cameron in collaboration with legendary artist Ron Cobb and was loosely based on an Apache attack helicopter, as well as other Vietnam War-era aircraft, in keeping with the film's Vietnam War undertones.

Several dropship models were made for production for different purposes and to different scales. This dropship features both "01" and "02" decals, one on each side, indicating that it was used as both "Bug Stomper" and "Smart Ass" during filming. The cockpit features the "Smart Ass" decals on both sides, and white text below the windows reads "Corporal Ferro/PFC Spunkmeyer". Inside the cockpit are two miniature pilots dressed in military gear.

The model is primarily made of fibreglass over a metal skeleton, with resin and styrene detailing. The front two landing pads are high-quality reproductions. The wings and rear missile pods are mounted on hinges and can be folded out, and the dropship has been intentionally distressed to appear well-used in battle. Sections of the dropship, including the wings, have undergone restoration. It has some additional scuffs and scratches, some of the decals are peeling away, and there is a hole intentionally cut into the top. It is displayed on a custom-built metal stand.

A funny meme I thought of. :)

I'm nearly done with Halloween decorations. I have one major thing I could use help with!

I always hang out in the driveway, dressed up, handing out candy, with a heater going - and a projector showing something matching my theme for the year.

This year, my theme is a little mature... a little spookier than my norm. I still want to project something, but Alien films are a little too much for the little ones. Any ideas what i could show?

also ^ check out my decorations! almost all hand made/painted. ovomorphs are chicken-wire with paper mache. most everything else is cut out of plywood. i learned how to use a jigsaw for this. i used a combination of spray paint and acrylic paint with brushes. the 2 xenomorphs on the front of the house are 8' tall. The queen behind my fence is ~10' tall! The motion tracker has flashing lights. the spray painted xeno with the hole in the face is rightin front of my steps. it's a photo op for ppl to pose with. that's also about 8'x8'I have a fog machine and a laser line thingy I'll set up on Halloween.

it's gonna be rad!

These are two burning questions I have, and I'd appreciate your thoughts:

1. In Alien, why couldn't the crew of the Nostromo say, essentially "We are outmatched," return to their hypersleep chamber (correct term?) and lock/seal all entrances. At the same time, they could pressurize and oxygenate their individual pods while opening the ship to the vacuum of space. Signed, sealed, delivered: A safe crew and an adrift Xeno?

2. In Aliens, the records from MUTHR are presumably missing. Order 937 was real, and Ripley could finally access the record as a warrant officer (after her superiors, Dallas and Kane, sadly fell victim to the Xenomorph). Why weren't those records maintained? Or was Weyland-Yutani just doing a truly horrible bit of gaslighting in their meeting with Ripley upon her reawakening on Gateway Station?

Thanks a lot for your thoughts!

Okay so I remember reading somewhere that there’s a short gag in an episode of the sitcom Mad About You where Paul Reiser walks into the room and finds Helen Hunt watching a scene from ‘Aliens’ (a scene that obviously doesn’t have Burke in it) and she asks him if he’s seen it, and he says “I only saw the first one.” Did my imagination totally fabricate that?

Didn't breathe much, but sure sweated a lot!

I was in a heated debate about a week ago with someone talking about aliens spitting acid. Has this ever happened on screen?

My opponent coughed up a poorly cut clip from AVP where drones freed the queen, but I swear they sacrificed one of their own to use its acidic blood to melt the chains. No spitting was involved, and only the blood is acidic, right?

Felt like drawing the greatest action heroine of alm time!

With Tom Skerritt’s death at 93, all five men who played members of the Nostromo crew in 1979’s Alien are now gone: Skerritt, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto and Harry Dean Stanton. Sigourney Weaver and Veronica Cartwright are now the only surviving actors who played the ship’s seven-person crew.

I made this edit after I've rewatched Alien and Aliens. I'm playing Alien Isolation for the first time. Hope you guys enjoy the edit, tell me what you thought of it!

Hello all!

This year I have been creating a bunch of artwork for my new portfolio, a lot of Warhammer, sci fi, and fantasy; but I thought I would be remiss if I didn't do something for one of my favorite IP's of all time: ALIEN.

I figured some people on here might also be interested in the process that goes into creating my work, so here's a breakdown of all the stages and research I did for this piece.

-

Starting out, I did a bunch of studies and sketches of all the original costumes and artwork from the first film. Once I had my head wrapped around the design I wanted I sketched out some poses and finally started painting.

As far as the painting process goes I kept it simple at first just focusing on shapes. I slowly started to build complexity as I went along, eventually adding in a hive texture for the background and slowly but surely painting the 76 individual human skulls that comprise the Xenomorph's perch.

In the end I layered in several passes of color treatment over the black and white going off the iconic color palette of the original film. Finally I did a last pass of heavy detail taking a lot of inspiration from H.R. Giger's original airbrush paintings and creepy designs.

If you made it this far thank you for reading this and I hope you enjoyed it.

I have this and plenty of other cool personal art on my Instagram if anyone is interested!

Love this sequence as they lift off from LV426, the music, Parker’s shout, everyone happy to leave and get underway. Just seemed you could feel the palpable relief and joy. And then…..

So many little scenes like this make Alien timeless.

The most fierce predators to watch over your garden. Tomato could never be safer.

They are 8 inches tall and weigh around 2 pounds each. Both solid concrete.

"Mommy, could you buy me the toy of the horrible phallic alien?"

Okay, even though I’m poking fun, I actually get it, back in '79 the idea that a science fiction film could also be a horror movie wasn't something most people could fully grasp. The horror of Alien was so impactful precisely because it was a pioneer, it was so intensely disturbing and oppressive that it was almost inconceivable. That’s why many parents took their children to see it at first, they simply didn't believe a sci-fi film could be truly that terrifying. On top of that, you have to consider the success of Star Wars, which saw unparalleled toy sales, a level of success that Kenner clearly wanted to replicate with Alien.

That said, the figure is surprisingly detailed, the sculpt is impressive and remarkably accurate, it even includes an action that allowed it to extend its pharyngeal jaw.

They had plans for a smaller-scale line that also included the crew of the Nostromo, but naturally, parents did not want to buy a toy of an rapist alien monster, and the figure was a resounding failure. The Aliens toy line, however, proved far more successful, porbably because while Alien is pure horror, Aliens leans much more toward action. It is simply easier to sell a toy line featuring soldiers fighting aliens than one depicting space truckers being gruesomely hunted and killed by a disturbing extraterrestrial creature.

When I was a kid in HS in the early 00s (probably 2001-2003) a friend let me borrow their book they were reading and it was set in the aliens universe.

I don’t remember much about it and maybe I’m confusing parts with alien resurrection movie where the main bad dude has like this hard on for the alien queen.

But I swear it was in the book I was reading that he would get very turned on by the alien queen or something?

TBH I don’t remember much about the book but I swear I have that particular moment ingrained into my head where he talks to the queen as if he wants to mate with her or something weird like that.

Reading back what I wrote this sounds like a smut novel but I doubt it is and I’m entirely embarrassed that this is the only part I remember but I just remember reading some aliens book as a young girl and the dude creeped me out bc he was like turned on by the queen he captured or something.

Am I remembering incorrectly or was this part of the way the main dude on resurrection was acting towards the queen and I’m just conflating the two?

Thanks! 😊

Wasn’t able to snag the Spirit animatronic this year, but I have this instead. Years ago when I was in college my dorm held a door decorating contest and this was my entry. I’ve still got it now, just the xeno with the pumpkin, laminated hanging on a door in my house. I used the NECA 40th anniversary bloody Big Chap for reference when I cut it out.

Finally found Fifield from NECA!

I really like Prometheus and i have some figures from the franchise but just Xenomorphs. I really wanted one "human" figure for my collection, and i was lucky enough to find him in a second hand app in europe.

I was stunned by how well designed this figure is, it is a really great detailed work by the time.

I'm absolutely love it!

Here's my slightly edited outdoor shots for you, hope you like it!
