I love sharing my observations on Reddit, so here’s one.
Today i sat down in Malibou, Saifi beirut downtown.
Oh my goodness.
To anyone who wants to see the RICH side of beirut, go to that place. It’s even richer than Zeituna bay.
I don’t belong there, as an average person from middle class family, but decided to go out of curiosity.
Ordered a drink (caramel lattee) which costed 10$
H o l y shit, there’s so much rich people in Lebanon.
G classes, range rovers parked everywhere.
At some point, a Bugatti stopped by and two girls went over the kiss the guy, before he drove away and started speeding (the fast cars you hear on highways speeding with bursting loud music? That place is their lounge)
Girls and guys are dressed in brands, with full make up and perfectly tanned skin, no pimples or bumps anywhere, coiffed hair, 10% body fat (i felt the need to go into details, to give you the perfect picture of what the people looked like, lol)
I generally don’t believe in stereotypes, but the ‘papi w mami’ was true.
Overheard two girls talking, one was saying how her dad talked to the company’s owner who was a friend of her dad. She claimed, manager told her she doesn’t have to come at 9 and could leave earlier. She also emphasized she could take hundreds of brakes in her job.
I don’t know what these people did, to be able to afford 500,000$+ apartments in that area and cars that cost well above 100,000$+ but it’s DEFINITELY not working any kind of job, lol. (I know in old days people made wealth in Saudi, but you get my point)
I guessed why the experience was a bit shocking, is that we’ve gotten used to the devastation, wars, economic crumbles and poverty in Leb. But no, no, NO.
There’s literally a luxurious area that is full of millionaires hanging around, and they hang out at THIS place.
A black African lady, dressed in a branded dress, was sitting there. Perfectly painted nails, honestly never saw such an attractive black female ever (hope it didn’t sound racist) She most likely, belongs to the rich Lebanese African families mining diamonds in Africa.
A teenage girl, got out of a huge 4X4. That car, my friends, is something i can’t afford, with all my life savings of my 4 years employment here. LMAO.
Not to sound depressing, but it really opens one’s eyes on the inequalities of life.
Going there will shock you, since a completely different vibe of this country, people living in a different reality than middle / lower classed people.
There’s no moral story, just felt like sharing this observation, haha.
