Tips for posting:
Tell us about you
If you want us to suggest things for you to do then you need to give us a good idea of what you enjoy: - Don't just say "I like music" - say what type of music - Don't just say you want "somewhere nice to eat" - say what type of cuisine you like (or don't like) - Be specific - otherwise you'll just get pointed back to generic guidebooks and our wiki
Tell us your budget
- If you're on a budget, tell us what it is so we can make appropriate recommendations
- There's no point suggesting expensive options if they'll clean out your wallet
- Saying you want something "cheap" isn't helpful because cheap is subjective
Tell us where you'll be based
- Let us know where you'll be staying so we can give local recommendations
Asking about hotels or hostels
- We have homes here so know very little about what hotels are like - use review websites like TripAdvisor
- However, if you say "I've been looking at these three hotels. Which do you think is the better location?" - that's something we can answer
Non-touristy stuff
- There are no secret corners where we hide the good stuff from outsiders!
- This is one of the most written about cities in the world
- When we want to go somewhere, we look at the same sources as tourists (listings sites, blogs, etc - see front page of the wiki)
These weekly posts are scheduled to post each Monday at 00:01. If it's late in the week you may want to wait for a new post to appear. Please send us ModMail with any suggested improvements!

Question Is there a story behind the Art Deco lights outside MI6)?
Is this the only place where they’re used, and if so, is there a reason why? I’ve walked past them a million times but it’s only just occurred to me I’m not sure I’ve seen them anywhere else.
ETA: excuse the random ) in the title — typing in t’rain and I didn’t notice.
Second edit: very much appreciate all the serious and non-serious answers, you’ve given me info and a much-needed laugh. What I find interesting is that the lighting isn’t consistent even for the central-ish stretch of the river: I’m walking back from the gym now, and I’ve already seen three different styles. It would be interesting (ymmv on ‘interesting’) to see if other rivers have stretches of consistent lighting — for example, when I think of the Seine, I imagine one particular type of light (not that we should use Paris as a yardstick, to be clear).

Transport Why's Euston so busy?
I'm not a regular at Euston, but it's mid afternoon on a Monday, and it's this busy. Is it usually this busy everyday or is it being half term making a difference? There's a few delayed/cancelled trains but it's not affecting many services.

Local London London experience
Every time I set foot in Whitechapel, it feels like stepping into an alternate universe, a microcosm of the entire world packed into a few streets. On a good day, you see everyone all at once: roadmen and femboys, hijabis and hookers, bankers and traders. It’s total sensory overload. It isn’t until you leave and travel to other countries, where society feels so monolithic, that you realize just how much of an anomaly this city really is. For better or worse, London is truly one of a kind. Love this city to the bit ❤️

Image The last ever night bus on Oxford Street...
Metroline VWH2211 (LK66DWC), a Volvo B5LH Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 with the default London red livery, makes a bit of history on the N98 this morning at 06:00, by being the last ever night bus to travel through Oxford Street.
As the road closes tonight at 20:00, all night routes will be diverted away from the pedestrian zone.
