I believe Wong should have become the Sorcerer Supreme immediately after the Ancient One's death.
He had the depth of experience and mystic knowledge without any of the baggage that constantly clouds Doctor Strange’s judgment like his sheer arrogance, vanity, impulsiveness.
Strange is undeniably brilliant, but his ego constantly gets in the way of his responsibilities. The mantle of Sorcerer Supreme requires genuine maturity, ironclad discipline, and level-headed judgment under pressure.
That said, Strange is still easily one of my favorite MCU characters, and I’m definitely not trying to tear down everything he’s done. But Wong just comes across as far more emotionally composed and grounded. Strange is still constantly tripping over his feelings for Christine Palmer and mourning the life he missed out on, and those personal hangups end up complicating his choices.
Wong doesn't get bogged down in his past he stays completely focused on the job at hand. You could argue that's partly because he gets less screen time as a supporting character, but his steady presence really stands out.
Strange might be the more spectacular hero, but Wong was always ahead of him in this aspect. So now I am happy he became Sorcerer Supreme after the blip.
