Photo Ponyhenge/Ponygirl Sighting
LPonyhenge is a very whimsical outdoor art installation of rocking horses in a field in Lincoln, Massachusetts, near the much less whimsical deCordova Sculpture Park.
My wife had never seen Ponyhenge, so we swung by after leaving the deCordova. As usual, there were several cars of gawkers like us, stopping just to admire the ever-changing array of hobby horses.
But a tall woman, clad in a very elaborate, very expensive, bespoke, leather, metal, and latex horse costume, stood almost statue-still among the rocking horses.
A man, I don't know if they were a couple, walked over to her and they said a few quiet words, and then he wandered away while she stayed in place.
No clue if she was a performance artist, or a person working out some personal issues, or what.
She was still standing there when we pulled away.

Politics VOTE ON Q3 JUNGLE PRIMARIES
After weeks of debating and leaning to 'Yes' in ballot question 3, I'm flipping my vote on 'No' to jungle primaries, but Massachusetts Democrats (and Progressives) need to do better. Their laziness is what made the Commonwealth be divided in this question. Massachusetts Dems need to stop being reactionary and start being proactive. They waited till they got cornered to start rallying against a new style of voting because people are tired of the lack of competition and action coming from a supermajority. The arguments from opposition have been terrible to say the least. I hope we (as Democrats and Progressives) have learned from this and start taking action and be more productive. Start collecting signatures and endorsements for a ranked-choice voting (RCV), campaign, ask the State Leg to legalize party alliances to start lifting up third-party voices who we might find common ground on different issues.
I'm voting 'No' because this is not the correct option for a new electoral system in Mass, but I'm voting 'Yes' when the times comes and they ask me about RCV.

Politics Question 5 is funded by dark money (cough Robert Kraft and people who don’t like being called out). When you can’t find out who is behind something, you should dig deeper. Vote NO on 5.
Question 5 is a doozy. I doubt there are many people in the state that could read question 5 as is and have a perfect grasp of its full implications. I’ve been hit in the head a lot so I need to dig into the simple ones too. After researching who is behind question 5, it’s painfully obvious to see what their intent is.
Massachusetts’s richest residents and corporations are laundering funds through the dark money group Massachusetts Opportunity Alliance to fund the ballot committee for Question 5. This group was set up after the passage of the Fair Share Amendment. While no one can prove who is in this dark money group (coughs up lung ROBERT KRAFT), it’s clear they want to undo the work of the Fair Share Amendment.
With a stricter revenue cap, working families pay the price through reduced public services and fewer investments in their communities. When schools, healthcare, public safety, and infrastructure face repeated budget cuts, everyone feels the impact—but not everyone bears the burden equally.
Happy to discuss this in depth with all takers.

Politics The flood of Andrea James ads paid for by the Minogue PAC is pissing me off
It's just the dishonesty that gets me. I get that there's no such thing as unfair campaigning and that any way to win is on the table but not even being honest about whether you want the candidate that you are advertising for to win is simply reprehensible.
I saw a stack of them earlier today in Spanish about how Healey isn't protecting immigrants enough and how James is the real pro-immigrants rights choice. Paid for by that "Massachusetts First" pac obviously. This shit makes me sick.

Politics What on earth are these Mike minogue ads?
I’ve seen three ideas he’s pushed:
being a ”good” governor who’s “for the people of Massachusetts“
saying he’ll legalize flavored zyns
him talking with Kevin O’Leary aka “Mr wonderful“
how on earth are these effective? Promoting an addictive substance with better alternatives, promoting using a top 10 greediest billionaire, and saying what everyone running with a pulse has been saying. These can’t be effective, right? I genuinely just wanted to say this to someone because it’s pmo. Who on earth is running his campaign?
Edit: good to know that I’m not the only one who can’t stand these ads.

News Former Massachusetts police officer pleads guilty to sexually abusing Somers High School wrestler
SOMERS, Connecticut — A former Springfield, Massachusetts, police officer pleaded guilty on Monday to two charges stemming from his conduct toward a 15-year-old wrestler while serving as a Somers High School assistant wrestling coach, prosecutors announced.
Justin Perez, 28, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to risk of injury to a minor and enticing a minor, according to Craig Nowak, state's attorney for the Tolland Judicial District.
A Connecticut State Police investigation found that Perez began privately messaging the teen in December 2023 after obtaining the student's phone number through wrestling team messaging apps.
The communications reportedly started as friendly exchanges to sexual comments and invitations to meet outside school. Investigators said Perez sent the student photographs of himself in uniform and sexually explicit images and videos.

General Question Any highschools with that offer fashion design programs in North East Mass?
I'm an 8th grader going into 9th next year in reading. I really want to go to art school for fashion once I graduate so I'm looking for schools that offer fashion designer programs since I'm not going to my towns public high school next year. I still don't know the system for high schools very well or if it's possible for me to go to any high schools out of district but I thought it wouldnt hurt to come on here and ask. I'm good for almost anything as long as it has a fashion program and is available for reading 8th graders except boarding schools so schools that you have to pay for or schools that you have to drive far to get too are perfectly ok. If this isnt possible or there is something I'm missing please let me know but I just really want this step up to hopefully have a better education and be more prepared for the future. Thank you.

Photo Spot Hero making “Premium Spots” at Braintree Garage???
Soooo what’s this? The garage’s standard 9/day weekdays and these guys just are allowed to swoop in, yoink like 20 spots and call them premium and charge 13/day? The garage is already competitive for parking as it is and this predatory practice was just allowed to do this? What a rip off to visitors who don’t know how to pay and park at Braintree and see the spot hero first and get ripped off. Get rid of these.

Utilities Who still hasn't turned on their oil-fired heating system?
We usually have ours turned on by Halloween, but it's all trick and no treat this year, so we are going to push it out as far as we reasonably can and then set the thermostat lower than usual. We are using a couple of electric space heaters at night right now, as needed.
