I was on my way to a client’s place, booked a cab, and ended up getting threatened by the driver because he wanted more money. 😂

At this point, I’m more amused than concerned, but honestly, how would you all have handled this situation?

I went out for a weekend getaway recently and came back with a lot of good memories. Went solo, not knowing anyone, but somehow ended up spending hours talking to people I'd just met. Some were jamming, some were doodling, a few of us were making masala for Kojagiri milk, someone was trying a balance board, and the rest of us were just chilling around a bonfire. What I liked most was that nobody seemed out of place. Everyone had their own interests, but we still found so much to talk about. It's funny how you can go somewhere not knowing a single person and come back missing people you met just a day ago. Honestly, I hadn't felt this happy after a weekend in a long time.

Health and Wellbeing NRI back to Pune and disappointed

I returned to India after 2018 ( born and raised in Pune). I am beyond heartbroken to see Pune the way it is today. It feels like a concrete sandpit with 0 aesthetics. Kay kelay aplya punyala hya netyani.

Horrible state of infrastructure and the city feels like suburban Mumbai. I understand growth and changes but this isn’t development at all.

संस्कृती/culture Saw Kojagiri Purnima celebrations in Pune🌕✨

Post image

I came across the Kojagiri Purnima celebrations in Pune and thought I'd share a picture I took. ❤️📸

Honestly, I don't know much about this festival, but seeing people celebrate it made me curious. 🥹✨

I've heard that people celebrate under the full moon and that masala milk is a big part of the tradition, but I'd love to understand the significance behind it.

Why is Kojagiri Purnima celebrated? Are there any stories, beliefs, or special traditions associated with it? And how do you usually celebrate it with your family?

Would love to learn something new from people who celebrate it! 🤗🌕

General/Rant I’m so fed up of these fireworks

I live 3 lanes away from a slum. These people blow fireworks at any point of the day, even at midnight, with absolutely no occasion, throughout the year. OMG I would’ve understood around Diwali that they are bursting crackers but why rest of the year??? I have really light sleep, these fireworks going up at any time really disturbs my sleep, plus my neighbourhood has a lot of oldies, shouldn’t there be something that can be done? Even during Diwali, why is there a need to burst bombs at 4/5am??? NOT ONLY FIREWORKS THESE MFS RIDE THEIR BIKES WITHOUT SILENCERS AT MIDNIGHT TOO, FOR HOURSS, SO LOUD!!! I live nearby the Mukundnagar area of Pune. Does anyone experience the same frustration??

AskPune People who’ve lived in or visited other Indian cities, how would you compare Pune to them?

Could be anywhere in India, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, or cities in the Northeast.

What does Pune do better? What does it do worse? Things like infrastructure, public transport, cleanliness, weather, cost of living, nightlife, job opportunities, people, culture, safety, traffic, and overall quality of life.

I always see people hating on Pune on this subreddit, so I’m genuinely curious to hear some honest opinions. Compared to the city or town you originally came from, how does Pune actually fare?

General/Rant We are doomed

Hinjawadi metro is already cleared for commercial operations since Sept end. Mahamanav is busy so it kept getting delayed. Now due to MLC elections it was again delayed

PMRDA and CRMS have already said multiple times that they can start operations. CM went to PM to invite him for inauguration of Metro

And yet there are quite a few of us who refuse to look at facts but are like "oh I looked at stations and they're not ready"

This is the situation with educated IT folks. This city and country is doomed

SCAM Alert Mitsubishi AC dealers in Pune are a scam: ₹22k quoted to reinstall a 1 ton AC (50% of its price)

Posting this so others don’t get caught out, and because I need some advice.

Buying the AC: Parag Enterprises

When I bought my Mitsubishi 1 ton 5 star AC from Parag Enterprises, I’d luckily called beforehand and the owner had quoted me a price on the phone. At the store, the saleswoman still tried to pitch me about ₹10k higher than that. I only got the price the owner quoted because I’d called first.

Then at installation time, they quoted me ₹8k, for a mere 6 ft of copper pipe. No free pipe either.

Shifting the AC: Mitsubishi Kondhwa

I recently moved houses. Since the AC is still under warranty, I thought I’d play it safe and get it reinstalled by the authorised service people, so I reached out to the Mitsubishi dealer in Kondhwa.

They quoted me ~₹22,000 for 26 ft of copper piping, cabling and installation. That’s roughly half the price of the AC itself. Quote and rate cards attached.

Some of their rates (before 18% GST):

  • Copper pipe with insulation: ₹450–480 per ft
  • Cable: ₹75 per ft
  • Drain pipe: ₹45–75 per ft
  • Wrapping tape: ₹60 per ft

The copper pipe alone came to ₹11,700 on the quote, and they billed 26 “units” of wrapping tape for ₹1,560.

Honestly, I’m fed up with Mitsubishi at this point.

Need suggestions

  • Should I just buy the copper pipe, cable and other material from a local store and get a local AC technician to install it?
  • Will that cause any issues with my warranty?
  • Any good shops in Pune for AC copper pipe and material, or a reliable AC technician you’d recommend?

TL;DR: Mitsubishi dealers in Pune (Parag Enterprises and Mitsubishi Kondhwa) quoted me crazy installation charges. ₹8k for 6 ft of pipe when I bought the AC, and now ~₹22k to shift my 1 ton 5 star AC to a new house with 26 ft of pipe, about half the AC’s price. Thinking of buying the material myself and getting a local technician. Suggestions welcome.

So recently I had to leave my cat for a week or so, to go on a trip, and was incredibly anxious about what will happen to Tinu, my cat. luckily I found (through this subreddit lol!) who very kindly agreed to take her in for a reasonable fee. the experience was great! we got updates every day, Tinu was happy, we saw her playing and having fun at his place. Would highly recommend keeping your cat with him if you need it, he takes excellent care.

General/Rant Pathetic Kharadi Bypass

Thumbnail
gallery
61 Upvotes

I am a person who goes through kharadi bypass everyday.

Why doesn't the local government even care about the kharadi bypass.

No sidewalks, no proper sky walks or anything to cross the roads as it is an important junction.

Dust is hilarious, right next to it there was some construction going on.

Traffic police are standing there just like statues, i have seen sometimes they control the traffic other than that they are just standing there watching all the chaos. Even if they are present people are jumping signals like its their father's road.

Even cars and autos are passing through wrong side.

Broken roads, No line discipline, obviously I am wrong to expect that.

It's just hilarious and irritating.

Kharadi is an important place, close to Airport, Many multinational companies are present. People would be visiting/ passing by through this place frequently. This should be a signature place of pune in a postive way. But it is being a typical indian city depiction.

Outdoors/Activities Request Hii I'm looking for fellow women who are interested in travelling

First of all I'll not be entertaining creepy dms from men. I will verify whether you're safe with phone calls, pictures, video calls, etc.

Okay now that that's clear, I am a college student and most of my friends aren't a huge fan of travelling. I am a chill, friendly person to hang out with and we would definitely have a lot of fun if we do plan something together.

I'm interested in trekking and stuff like sky diving, bungee jumping, scuba diving, etc. I am also interested in travelling in general and I wanna do it inside India and keep it affordable for the most part (like for travelling, using buses and trains for places in Maharashtra and maybe planes for outside and for stay using hostels but that's definitely not a strict rule and we could change things to whatever is the most safe).

Lemme know if you're interested :)

AskPune Please share good laptop service centre options in Kharadi

I have a 2022 Asus Zephyrus G15 gaming laptop which is overheating and needs a thermal paste reapplication, I also need to replace the battery too.
Currently it’s out of warranty, it has liquid metal thermal paste so I’m looking for a shop where technicians have experience with this.

Please recommend me some options, my laptop is overheating and crashing abruptly.
