News Indonesia defends gas export cuts, says it won’t be lectured on honouring contracts

The ST article doesn't do it justice because the way this supposed minister articulated it, sounds really crude and snarky. He absolutely doesn't have to make the snide remarks and should just say things as-a-matter-of-factly. I can well believe that the reductions are within limits and likely a planned reduction as we near the contract ending 2028. But jeez, what a way to fan flames

JAKARTA: Indonesia's gas export cuts to Singapore are within contractual limits, said the country’s Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia on Monday (Oct 26).

The export cut, which Indonesia said it was implementing to divert more supplies to domestic electricity needs, started last Saturday and involves 31 million standard cubic feet of gas a day, comprising 15 million from Natuna and 16 million from Sumatra.

Excellent. Looking forward to get more details and tangible results as soon as possible instead of ending up as a study. Indonesia is for sure a clear wake up call for us. Given the situation of resource nationalism its a matter of time

Who owns the 10 Singapore firms targeted by the haze law?

Will they end up harshly punished like OBS? Their involvement in these companies didn’t happen overnight. These companies have always caused the haze.

Let’s see what happens

Discussion Indonesian citizens react to gas cut

I am looking at the YouTube comments on the Indonesian news reporting about the gas cut to Singapore.

Most of the top voted comments are very angry comments, saying that indo should stop gas supplies entirely.

It is as if that we Singapore has done something very wrong to them that they whole heartedly support Indonesia's cut so angrily.

I know that this is not reflective of all citizens, but what news are they getting such that they are so angry about the whole matter?

Shouldn't they support Singapore in punishing the culprit for the haze? Can it be Indonesia's media making it such that we are utterly "disrespecting" or insulting them with our comments on the haze?

What is their perspective that make them so angry such that they support the cuts?

A Sydney-based currency trader was fired for working from Singapore without permission on a work-from-home day. The employer used tracking to find out, and the trader was dismissed but later awarded compensation for procedural unfairness.
