Discussion Lore question about the Protoss caste system

Post image
140 Upvotes

Something that always confused me. So i know the 3 castes are Judicator (the political and religious leadership and scholars), Templar (the warriors), and Khalai (the laborers). And I know that the castes are divided by tribe. Ara Tribe (red) was the most famous judicator tribe while Sargus (blue), and Velari (yellow) we some of the Templar tribes. However I also know that Arbiters are piloted by Judicator crews, the one protoss combat unit that isn't a Templar.

So my question: How is it that we have Arbiters belonging to Templar tribes? Do some members of these tribes get the privilege of being of a higher caste? Or are they actually members of another tribe serving/supervising their Templar brethren?

On the flip side, in the missions where we encounter Ara tribe, are their warriors of the judicator caste despite being warriors? Or are they Templar despite being of a judicator tribe? It feels like these things in the lore are conflicting.

I'm honestly not quite sure what I was expecting from the Zerg campaign when I first loaded it up all those years ago, but firm and supportive words from a loving god were not it. He made an impression. I did appreciate how in those first three campaigns there was clearly so much you going on that you didn't understand when you were just running around with Mengsk and Raynor. Hearing the zerg speak was a trip, let alone speaking like that.

Mind you, this isn't a hate post, I don't actually dislike Kerrigan, but I had a sudden bout of nostalgia for the OG and I can still clearly hear that voice in my head.

Video I made a tournament of AI agents

Not sure if anyone else is interested in this sort of content, but I had a lot of fun making it. It was fun to see the different strategies the different agents took and all the silly things they did along the way.

Discussion Did Matt & Jim overthink the Media Blitz?

Nothing really stopped them from quietly sending the recordings over to UNN under the premise of unique scoop about Tarsonis tragedy so reporters like Kate Lockwell would pounce at the opportunity of sensational topic.
Coming in on Korhal while having to pull a lot of Matt's connection to even land the Odin with Tychus inside successfully doesn't seem particularly necessary to what they are doing.

(To be tagged...) This may be the first truly immortal RTS.

I am referring of course to Starcraft 1.

I could see another remaster in the future lmao. I'd start placing bets at a new official DLC

We are seeing in real time the game hit anniversary after anniversary and still get players logging in.

Youtubers still make content, competitions still being held. South Korea starcraft culture still going strong

2001, 2008, 2020 doesn't matter. Starcraft still chugs along.

When we part of naval crews of real battlecruisers in 500 years we still gunna be constructing additional pylons baby

(To be tagged...) I misspelled "Adjutant" and found these images of the earliest of StarCraft, and I'm mostly sharing for those who never saw these before. Honestly... I see the vision they had back then.

(To be tagged...) New team mate

I’ve been playing StarCraft for a quite some time mostly Protoss, and I’m getting pretty good.
I just think it would be better to play together to bounce ideas off each other and improve. I’m on the EU server, and the highest I’ve reached was Gold Tier 1, but I took a break for a while and got demoted. I think i could of kept going much further but we stopped playing.

My gamer tag is Pearlbison#24176

Video I Brought StarCraft Into My Living Room with a StarCraft XR Prototype

I've been exploring what older games could look like in XR and started with a game I hold extremely close to me. StarCraft!

I’m building StarCraft XR in Unity, using StarCraft 64 running through a modified Mupen64Plus backend.

The original game handles the simulation and rules. A custom bridge exposes live game state to Unity, which presents the terrain, units, buildings, and interface as a tabletop battlefield in mixed reality.

XR controller input is translated back into game controls, with ray-based selection, drag selection, and unit orders. The battlefield and command panel can also be repositioned and resized.

This clip shows Protoss base building and combat in my living room. It’s still a work in progress, focused on adapting the original RTS experience to spatial controls and presentation.

Still a lot of testing to be done but have been able to play through the campaigns and custom scenarios without much fuss.

(To be tagged...) Where do they get DTs, HTs, and Zealots from?

So as protoss you dont "build" units you warp them in to the gateway from some distant place so like the units are pre-built (dragoon, stalkers, immortals etc... and the air units and other robo units) then they send the pre-built unit to the Gateway's location.

But what about DTs, HTs, and Zealots? Especially DTs? How do they create them for you to warp them in? Unlike the units above you cant build them.

Although it had good intentions, me and every Terran player I know absolutely hate it and it still fucks us every single day. I can't believe it remained in the game
