Current board wants to make money by going ways Dutti never would have agreed to.

If they dig him out, wind copper wire around him, bury him again and replace his tombstone with a magnet they could make electricity when he rotates in his grave!

1'000 Drawings - Switzerland as people remember and draw it

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello sub,

Here is the map of Switzerland made from 1'000 drawings of cantons people have made from memory.

All the drawings are saved as geographical coordinates and positioned precisely in relation to one another on a blank canvas. When several lines converge at the same point, they become darker.

I don't think I am allowed to link my page in the post for you to see the live map and your drawings...

Family status on CV

After a lot of struggles, both before and after my pregnancy I finally managed to find a job that suits me.
I will be starting soon, and my employer doesn’t know that I have a one year old child. My husband thinks that marital status and whether you have children must be included in your CV in Switzerland. That seems strange to me because I have never seen that anywhere, and I think he might have misunderstood some information.
During my interview, nobody asked me anything about my marital status or whether I have children. If they had, I would have been honest and told them.
Now I’m not so sure anymore, and I’m wondering if this is actually standard practice in Switzerland. Should I have mentioned it during the interview, or was it completely fine not to?

UPDATE: Thank you for all the answers. I feel much better about it now.

For those who mention that I will have to fill out documents anyway, I know that. I wasn't asking how to hide it or keep it a secret, but simply if I should include it on my CV or mentioned it during the interview.

Any way to buy Amazon physical cards?

I went to some shops or supermarkets in Zuri but it seems there are no Amazon gift cards (I need physical not digital). I know about the alternatives in Switzerland but it's a gift for friends who live in Germany. do I have to go to Germany to buy one?

EU national with Permit B planning a temporary stay abroad (11 months). Deregister?

Hello! I’ll likely be resigning from my job and then out of Switzerland for 11 months, with a few visits throughout the year.

What is the risk if I don’t notify the authorities (kanton, permit/migration, insurance etc) and stay registered and keep paying my bills? Is there a potential issue Im creating for when I return, if I keep everything as if i was in CH the whole time? Thank you!

Military service question

I am currently 24 years old and will have to do 4 months of military starting febuary 2027.

The issue is my mother is not in the best of health and I would like to be close to lausanne to come back and see her as much as possible on weekends. I think that payerne and bière have army bases.

I have my 2 day recruitment in a couple of days where I will have to tell them my preferences. Are there any specific army functions for biere or payerne or any other bases in the French region?

Thank you so much for any help or any other advice you might think of.

Ideally I would also not want to do an army role that is too physically challenging as I don’t want to be too tired on weekends to be able to spend time with my mother

The neighbors have installed ultrasound devices for dogs

As the title says, my neighbors have installed a dog ultrasound device, the problem is that I hear it continuously all day, every time I go out and I can't even keep the windows open in my house because of this problem, I wanted to know if it is possible to do something, because I wanted to go talk to them but if they refuse I can do something through the police or I can't do anything?

Need eggs?

I live in the countryside (Fribourg) and there is a chicken farm in the village which sells eggs for Migros, so we get to buy all the non calibrated eggs, like this one, 100 grams lol!

The eggs were so big this morning that they didn't fit in the box!

I just bought a ticket on the SBB app like I always do. Twint says everything worked fine and the payment has been completed. But the SBB app had a failure notification and doesn‘t show a valid ticket…

What would happen in this case if I get „caught“ with no valid ticket?

Should universities introduce faculty specific entrance exams to reduce graduate unemployment ?

Given that many university graduates struggle to find jobs, should universities introduce faculty specific entrance exams for bachelor's degree programs to better align student admissions with labor market needs?

Is there a mobile carrier who dosen't have any Internet, just Telefone and SMS? (considering switching to a dumb phone)

Hi,

I had a random Idea to switch to a dumb phone, if I do, then I wouldn't need Internet in my plan, which would in turn make it cheaper, is any carrier in switzerland offering that?

Now I have a very good deal on my mobile plan at swisscom, I am not going to explain it here because it is kind of complex, but thats not the point.

btw. the read the rules part was so confusing, hope I got it right

What is something about your life in Switzerland that you wish others understood better ?

I've been feeling that discussions about issues affecting us all are becoming increasingly polarised.
I might be biaised but I feel like people often end up debating rather than trying to understand what people are actually experiencing in their everyday lives.

So I'd like to try something because I'm curious about the different realities of living in Switzerland, depending on where we live, what we do for a living, our financial situation, our age, or our personal circumstances.

Is there something about your everyday life that you wish more people in Switzerland knew or understood ?

It could be about your job or a perspective your job offers, housing, healthcare, education, family life, finances, or anything else that matters to you.

You might also have an "insider" perspective on a sensitive social issue (because of your profession, personal experience, community, or circumstances) that you feel is often missing from public discussions.

My idea isn't to debate who's right or wrong. It's more so about listening realities that might be very different from our own.

I think we could all benefit from hearing more about what life actually looks like for people across Switzerland, including perspectives and experiences that are rarely visible in public debates, beyond political opinions and generalisations.

Best barber shop in Geneva

Hi All, I'm looking for the best barber shop in Geneva. Ideally close to the station.

Context: I live in Zurich, but spend a lot of time in Geneva. In Zurich I have a barber shop in Seebach and the guy that cuts my hair is the hardest working person I've encountered in over 10 years in Switzerland. Would be great to find someone with similar dedication in Geneva, for a touch up, shave, or full haircut. Price is secondary.

Twint safety

Recently made a purchase of CHF 350 through Twint for a second hand game console and never received it. The person used what I assume was a burner phone number (number didnt have a any whatsapp account and calling it sends it straight to voice mail).

I try to not be mad about the money, since I was being careless but how come scammers can just use Twint for their practices when you need to register and verify your account. Shouldnt it be extremely easy for Twint Support to take action after you have been scammed?

Obviously I reported it to the police, my bank and Twint but I already know nothing is going to happen, so I just wonder why and how this can happen.

Civil status update for newborn registration - timeline

Hi all, we live in Zug and after the recent birth of our son here in Zug, we started the process of getting his birth certificate. We were told that we need to register our civil status (married) before we can get his birth certificate. Now to get our civil status updated, we had to submit OUR birth certificates and in my case, i.e person born in India, they say that it can take up to 5 months to get my birth certificate verified. To note is that we are both EU citizens and got married here in EU. Has anyone else gone through this process? How long did the process take for them?

Does being an EU citizen (but being born outside Europe) help to have a shorter process?

Also, related note, does anyone know rules to drive to Germany/Austria with a newborn and only his birth confirmation/document from commune (awaiting registration)?

Thanks y'all.
