I remember that UCSC has a taxidermy class, so I'm going to ask here!

I know this is an oddish question but I'm desperate and branching out. My 19 yo cat whom I've had since I was 5 is actively dying. Would like to keep some part of her— preferrably her skull, but there are no taxidermists on the Monterey peninsula. I don't want her cremated. The idea of her sitting in a box forever makes me upset, and I'm moving soon-ish, so I can't simply bury her and dig her up layer.

I'm wondering if anyone here has dermestid beetles and/or does taxidermy in the Santa Cruz/Monterey/SLO area.. And would be willing to take her for me (of course I would pay you.)

Please let me know. I've typed this between a constant onslaught of tears. Time is literally of the essence.

Hello All.

I am looking for some advice or clarification on transferring to UC Santa Cruz for CS: Game Design (B.S.).

I’ve fallen in love with UCSC and honestly want to get through my community college requirements as quickly as possible. However, I’m getting confused by the ASSIST.org requirements and could use some insight from anyone who has gone through the process.

Here is my situation:

• My ideal plan was to transfer in Fall 2027 with 60 units and the 7-course pattern completed.
• My second option was aiming for Winter 2028 to give myself a bit more breathing room.

My Questions:

1. ASSIST Fall Course Deadline: ASSIST mentions that 3 of my required courses need to be completed the Fall before I transfer. If I only have 1 of those completed by Fall 2026, does that completely disqualify me from transferring in Fall 2027? (Assuming I complete the remaining required screening courses during Winter/Spring 2027).
2. Winter Admission: Is transferring in Winter (e.g., Winter 2028) even realistic or open for Baskin Engineering / CS: Game Design majors at UCSC?
3. Sophomore Transfer: Would trying to transfer early as a sophomore (with under 60 units) change any of these course completion rules, or is junior standing essentially required for this major?

I did not do TAG for Fall 2027 because I was not well informed about the school I wanted to go too, Sorry for the long question.

I know this is a long shot, but I lost my Sony XM-5s in Baskin yesterday and have been losing my mind not having them to study for midterms.

Share one of those iconic things that happen at UCSC. I'll go first:

Seeing all the cool new bikes sitting on the bike racks at the beginning of the year and slowly but surely noticing how another tire went missing each time you pass by.

Any other history majors here struggling to get a response from the history department right now? I need advice and help enrolling in classes next quarter, and the advisor role is currently either vacant or in an interim role right now. I literally do not know who to contact or who is actively responding in that department.
