News PSA PRIME STORAGE
If you have anything stored at the Prime Storage on 27st in Vernon you may want to check or remove you items and or end your contract. As there key pad dose not work, they harbor drug users snd it looks like they have had a brake in and did not contact there customers.

Conservative Kevin Acton wins in Vernon-Lumby
How well do clotheslines work?
We're moving to Vernon this January. We live in Colorado where we're spoiled with craploads of sun and heat. Clothes dry on the line in the summer in like an hour and a half. In the winter they still dry in less than half a day. We don't own a dryer as a result and it saves a ton of money. The downside is that everybody has skin cancer but that's another issue.
Do people dry their clothes on the line here much, or is it too rainy?

Green Party = throw away vote?
Does the green party candidate in this area have any chance of winning? In the past I’ve always voted green no matter where in British Columbia I’ve lived in order to raise the popular vote for the greens. But I’m starting to think that raising the popular vote is not all that important.

Mushroom hunting!
Hiiiii! I will be heading to Vernon from Vancouver Island, on Friday, for 3 1/2 weeks! I’m an avid mushroom hunter (mostly for photos, but will definitely pick the odd edible) and I’ll be missing some prime-time mushroom hunting out here!
I’m curious if anyone can point me in the direction of the mushrooms? I have a 4x4, not scared of off-roading to find my ✨precious✨I’m not looking to pickpocket anyone’s special spots, but if there are any forested areas that have potential, I’d love to hear about them! Looking forward to exploring the area with my dogs! TIA! 🤗🙏🏼🍄🍄🟫

Issues at Field of Screams in Vernon last night- Anyone know what happened?
Some friends of mine visited the Field of Screams corn maze yesterday and I heard there were some problems. They paid for the four maze tickets and only got to go through one cuz they were stuck waiting in line for over two hours and it got way too cold so they had to give up. Others in line said they’d been waiting for almost three
Some other friends who stayed by the fire said they barely saw anyone exiting the mazes, so I wanna know if anyone here knows what was going on? Was there an incident, people getting stuck, or just poor planning? I’m both curious and upset on their behalf.
Tired of insanely expensive low quality new buildings
I just went to view an apartment, if you can call it that, yesterday. The building is nearly complete, they haven't advertised them yet but I got an advance viewing on the completed unit. They want $2350-2500 CAD for this....hazardous shithole. The corner most upper unit is nice if you can manage the 20-30 stairs straight up to it. But the lower unit is so terrible- the utility room adjacent to the kitchen was a decent size, the hot water tank tucked neatly into the far right corner. The washer/dryer were just placed super awkwardly right in front of it, square in the middle of that room. So the usable space was really awkward to get to. Underneath that staircase was used as a "closet" for the poor lower unit. So you open the closet and to your immediate left, there is a very sudden massive gaping unmarked hole into at least a 5 foot drop. They (apparently) have no plan to cover it or close it off because "it's the main water line access" bro? Someone's child or pet is going to be seriously injured, or worse, falling into that! Dare you accidentally leave that door ajar, or if baby learns to open a basic doorknob; tragedy awaits in that stupid fucking closet. I can't imagine in any world it is even legal to leave it like that and I'm hoping the letting agent was mistaken, but wow. And for the low low price of $2350/month! No utilities will be included. The lower units windows are treated to the delightful view of a rough concrete wall about 12 inches from it.
Now, the upper corner unit almost had my application. But that staircase is just killer and I'm not paying $2500 for a small and inconvenient apartment, as shiny and new as it is.
I am just so disheartened by the state of our housing in BC. Everything is owned by people who don't live here so they have no incentive to give a singular damn, tenants are squeezed of every possible bleeding dollar, and when we do get any sort of new build, they are horrible. We work hard for our money, we deserve better. Whoever is out here designing and approving these needs to be fired, honestly. They had so much potential, but profit is king, so what could have been a lovely little home is just an annoying (and potentially unsafe) place to live that someone will pay an arm and leg for because they are desperate.

Vernon / Okanagan Event- Caravan Farm Theatre Horse Drawn Halloween!
Come on down to the farm for a Halloween inspired wagon ride adventure. Enjoy the “backstage views” of Caravan’s 80 acres, and get to know the teams and teamsters who drive for the winter sleigh ride show.
Bonfires will be crackling, and our concession will be serving an array of local and homemade foods and drinks: hot chocolate, hot apple cider, Karma sodas, Crannog Ales and Okanagan Spirits Pear Brandy and Whiskey. We will be serving homemade chili and bannock, gourmet smokies, and for the kids (and adults) who like to cook their own food, we will be offering hot dogs for roasting on the open fire (vegetarian chili and hot dog options will be available). Also, PIE. Come on into the fabled “Cookshack” our artist’s home away from home, to warm up, enjoy your meal, and visit with friends old and new.
Let’s get together, October 17th and 18th at Caravan Farm Theatre.

Hockey Groups?
Hey everyone! I (24M) am looking for some casual/beer league groups to play hockey with this season!
I'll play any position (prefer left D). I have full gear. Intermidiate skill level, I only started a few years ago but I am a good skater despite my lack of stick handling and crappy shot.
I just love hockey and want to play it more!
Unrelated, but also: I will hang out and watch any Canucks, Oilers, Or Ducks game with any local fans.
Cheers!

Bouldering buddies?
Hi
30/F
I’m relatively new to town and want to start bouldering again, but I don’t like going alone because I like help with beta and the general socialization. Does anyone want to join me?
I’m not very good at all (green level max so far) so you don’t have to be very good either or even really have tried it. Just want a buddy. And I can share my chalk bag. lol.

Is this Vernon?
I started watching Wild Boys: Strangers in Town and it opens with a shot of Vernon from 2003. From what I can remember from living in the Okanagan in the early 2000’s, Kal Lake and Okanagan Lake don’t look like this.
Edit Solved! It’s Queenstown New Zealand, specifically Queenstown Bay Beach
