Hobby Warhammer is more fun when you build the army you love instead of chasing the meta
Honestly, I think one of the best things about Warhammer is that people can enjoy the hobby in completely different ways. Someone might spend weeks perfecting the armor on the Lion, another person might be figuring out how to make their first 1,000-point army work, and someone else might just want to paint a ridiculous-looking Ork because it's fun.
I genuinely prefer seeing that kind of variety over every army becoming a copy of whatever list is winning tournaments. Competitive play has its place, but if you're constantly buying new units because the meta changed, it can start feeling more like keeping up with a trend than enjoying your hobby.
There's also something satisfying about using models you actually like, even when they aren't the strongest option available. You get more invested in painting them, learning their rules, and finding ways to make them work on the tabletop.
For me, an army has more personality when you can tell the owner chose its units because they love them, not just because a tier list told them to.
Winning is great, but I'd rather lose a close game with an army I'm excited about than win with a list I built purely because someone online said it was optimal.

Hobby Another year, another golden demon, another great time :)
I've seen some posts about golden demon, some people contesting judgments etc. I don't think people not participating realize the true value of this competition apart from taking a trophy. Its a celebration of our hobby, a meeting with great people, friends etc.
There are each year hundreds of artists gathering in one place and each one of them deserves to be recognized as such. But golden demon is the way it is (which is why we like it) and not everyone can win :) (I didn't and will keep trying).
So keep painting, respect each other's work winners or not winners!

Hobby Hi all! Fafnir Rann
Some work on my reposed Fafnir Rann from Warhammer horus heresy .Around 1h fun and color placement. Still have a lot of clean up and i'm unsatisfied with hair. Not usual space marine pose. I have resculpted his face to "close" his eyes. I'm going for tired after the battle feel.

Hobby Getting back into it
Hi there, first time poster. I used to be very much into warhammer and fantasy a good 9-10 years ago. Used to collect, paint and play forge world deathguard, space wolves, ogres, and tau
I gave all my hobby stuff away years ago and I’m wanting to get back into the building and painting side of things. Just putting a basket together of all the basics I’d need to get going again with Ultramarines and was wondering if I’m missing anything basic? I remember a lot of the colour names but not the prices being so high lol..
would just be for when I get back from work nothing serious or a pro setup.
Thanks for reading I’ve also attached some pictures of my old models

Discussion A big discount doesn't make a Warhammer battleforce a good deal if half the models will sit in a box
Honestly, I think people sometimes focus too much on the percentage saved when judging Warhammer battleforces. A box can look like incredible value on paper, but that doesn't mean it's worth buying for everyone.
If you're starting an army or already planning to use most of the units, getting several kits together at a lower price makes perfect sense. But if you're buying models you don't want just because the bundle looks like a bargain, you're still spending money you could've put toward something you'd actually enjoy building and painting.
I'd rather buy one kit I'm genuinely excited about than a massive box that becomes another pile of shame project. 😭
I do think these bundles can be great value, but the real question should be whether the contents fit your army and your hobby plans, not just how much cheaper they are than buying everything separately.

Hobby Goremongers
After some hesitation (thanks to bad guidance from other hobbyists at my local FLGS) I finally made the switch to kolinsky sable brushes. Painting is so much more fun! This guys did not get a kitbash as I normally do, because I love the models to being with.
Any feedback welcome!
