⭐Read before posting! ⭐

Hello community! ❤

We are currently working towards improving the sub. Our goal is to have better engagement and professional environment that also helps newcomers to archviz. To achieve this, we are adding some guidelines and rules to enhance interactions and posts. Additionally we will be implementing challenges! 😁

1. How to post? - chose proper flair

Technical and profesional question: Use this flair if you want to ask specific questions like: "how to create this material?", "what's the necessary hardware for...?", "What can I charge for this...?". Use it when you want to learn how to solve some specific issue, improve as a professional,

I need feedback: Use this flair when you have a render that you might want to improve or not sure it if looks good enough, but you don't have a specific question about it like "how to?"

Share work: Maybe you want to share your latest work or some of your portfolio works, but you don't necessarily are asking for feedback.

Discussion: Use this flair to engage in conversation with the sub community. The main difference with technical and professional flair is that you want to know opinions and pov rather than solve a question or an issue. Example: "Current state of the archviz profession".

Challenge: We are going to be implementing challenges. When participating you should use this flair to post your work.

2. How to post? - post content

In simple terms: don't be lazy. If you want other people to take time to read or provide feedback or help you, then you should take your time too. Any post that's considered lacking in context will be deleted,

More or less, thinking on categories/types of posts: and some considerations

PORTFOLIO (show work | I need feedback):

❌Post a portfolio image that's a link to website/portfolio

✔Post image/s with a description that includes a link or a comment with a link to your portfolio.

❌When you add link in comment or description: redirects to personal website

✔When you add link in comment or description: redirects to known platform like Behance, Artstation and so on...

NEED FEEDBACK / TECHNICAL QUESTION / SHOWING WORK:

❌An image and or a question without proper context

✔Any post, regardless if it's a question, showing work, or asking feedback, should include:

  • Render engine used
  • Software/s used
  • Image/s as reference to highlight the question, issue, discussion.
  • Additional details (not obligatory): elapsed time, difficulties faced or any additional detail that improves
  • Reference if it's based on a real image

⚠ This is a case by case. Sometimes if the questions is very specific and well presented you might not need an image.

CREDIT AUTHOR:

❌Post an image without credit the author

✔Post image with credit of the author or studio or artist taken from.

While we won't enforce this, we ask if possible, when working from a reference, add credit to the author, architect, studio, artist, that created said reference

JUST DON'T

❌Self promotion

❌Selling assets

❌Selling courses

❌Post that consist of external links to websites

❌Piracy

⚠ This sub shouldn't be a marketplace. If your products are good enough, people should be able to find you trough the proper platforms. We also can't be checking every link to make sure it doesn't redirect to any malicious site.

OTHER TYPES OF POST

❌Post that don't have anything to do with archviz or related to.

✔We do encourage post that improve discussion even if not directly related to archviz. For example: Architecture, styles, animation techniques, photography. ONLY under the terms that can help a 3d artist improve in archviz.

Why this guidelines and rules?

We want to improve the quality of the sub. We have noticed many posts lack any context or sufficient information yet ask for feedback. Posts that are simply ads, and so on. On the long run, those types of posts and interactions tend to be detrimental to any sub. We understand that many of these changes may or may not work, and so we will be open to seeing how they are received, and change if needed.

Discussion 🏛 How do I improve?

Post image
55 Upvotes

Recently I changed from Vray for Sketchup to Corona for 3DS Max and I've been amazed at how much easier it is to get nice looking images now. This is the first render I made with Corona and it's by far the best render I've ever made, but at the same time it's nowhere near the atmosphere and realism I'd like to achieve.

It would be great if some of you could help me point out what I should do to (dramatically) improve this image. I have already chamfered my edges and used PBR materials on nearly every surface so I don;t really know how to improve from here.

Thanks!

I need feedback [Not a designer][Kitchen] - personal use - asking for tips or guidance

I am trying to visualize my new house, I'm at the point to pick what kind of kitchen I want.

I am going to for Nolte kitchens (Central Europe).

Not sure if I should do the dark oak or leave every front white?

I used Architecture & Design for the designing part as I don't have any other professional tool or knowledge of a tool or even Design experience.

Would appreciate any tips.

I need feedback SAGA: Smart Asset Gathering Assistant, and I need a little help testing it (no install, browser based, local only, privacy focused asset library organizer)

Post image

Hi everyone,

I want to introduce something to you, and ask if a few people would like to take part in a closed alpha.

This is SAGA: Smart Asset Gathering Assistant. To keep it short: When you, or your studio has an asset library that nobody knows what's in it; SAGA knows. Let me tell you a little bit about it, then I'm happy to answer your questions, if you have any.

I need a few people, maybe up to 10 to test it (ideally mixed, some from studios, some freelancers, hobbyists), while organizing your asset library, for an invite only, closed Alpha run. As long as you'd like to participate, and as long as I can keep this running. Honestly, I wouldn't even ask your email unless you wanted to share, but it's the nature of a closed alpha. Of course, if you'd like to introduce yourself and what you do, I'd appreciate it.

If you are interested, please send me a DM and your email and I will add you to the alpha. Then you can help me by telling me what's broken, how is it going, or maybe occasionally send .log files. If all goes well, you might have a nicer library.

For the patient, please see below:

What is this?

  1. It's a web-app, browser served, privacy focused, local-only library organizer. Basically there's no install, no login (except closed alpha), no upload, no telemetry. It runs on Chromium browsers for now. Technically, it should run even offline if you have the tab open. You point it to a directory where you store your unorganized, messy asset folders, then a target folder, and SAGA tries its best to know what they might be, and where they should go. (There's a one time optional download, and check for updates, but your files, names, etc. never leave your computer)
  2. It's a bit more complicated than that, and it is also a bit more flexible and customizable than I could explain here. There are 2 layers of scanning, with several different mechanics to get the most information possible from the most obscure assets. Beyond name analysis, on-device AI model scans the asset preview, so even your badly named untitled8.max is placed in a category.
  3. Even when it can't "understand" what the asset might be, I built it in a way that it's at least more convenient to hand-place categories, rename assets, or clean up folders.
  4. It never writes anything unless you want to, it gives you an analysis of what you have and where the assets might go (category, structure).
  5. It's not only 3D models, but it can organize textures, HDRIs, AI generated models, and more planned.
  6. It can read your own folder structure, or it will let you create your own in the UI, so you don't have to use SAGA default.
  7. It's a rolling release, I push the updates whenever I can.

What it isn't?

  1. It's not magic. If your file is so unorganized, vaguely or incorrectly named, to a point that even you have to open and examine them in person, probably SAGA can't place your assets with 100% accuracy either.
  2. It's not perfect. With my best efforts of stress-testing with controlled and uncontrolled conditions, offline automated tests, small set peer reviews, custom training etc. it can make mistakes. Anywhere between 1/10 or 3/10 might need your review, depending on how messy your source library is. That is not only due to the technical limitations of the offline nature of the app, but also the wild mess of some 3D marketplaces and virtually infinite sources available.
  3. It's not production ready.

What did I do?

Function design, product design and management, UI and UX direction. As well as extensive human trials... like, a lot... Also, I brought the knowledge, common studio library problems, personal library problems, basically my experience in the industry as someone who has been dealing with these in studios.

What I didn't do?

I didn't write a single line of code, I read them where I could make sense of them. Also, I didn't ask AI to write you an ad.

How I got here?

It started as a free-time vibe-code experiment to clean up messy 3D downloads. Every fix exposed another problem, and it grew into something much bigger than I planned. I even gave it a name, as you can see.

Also can I get help on how to decide colors for interior designing.

While choosing colors for wall all I choose is shades of grey or few soft pastel colors. Idk what colors to choose and how to choose. I just play really safe and choose neutral shades. I wanna know how to start choosing colors other than shades of grey. Any recommendations/guidance/study would be really helpful. Thank you🙂‍↕️

Technical & professional question Help! Two days before submission and my render looks terrible!

Hi everyone,
I am working on a project for university and I am having a really hard time with exterior renders.
I am using Vray for Rhino.
No matter which HDRI or lighting settings I try, everything looks flat and dull. Also the materials, that look pretty good on the interior renders, get flatten out.
I would like to achieve a more dramatic and interesting appearance.
Which Vray settings + photoshop processing tips could help me? Thank you🙏🏻

Interior renders of a modern HDB apartment in Singapore, designed mainly in white. The lighting works with the space, so the white stands out without feeling plain, bringing the warmth of a home. The study is changed to a glass wall to make the space more open and let in more light.

Hello everyone, So I just finished another variant of my series of interactive architectural presentations using Unreal engine. I made this version with the essential for Interior projects. So this is Apartment Linea: an interactive architectural presentation you can walk through, change and explore.

Built in Unreal Engine 5.8.

What you'll see in this video:
• Free navigation through the whole apartment

• Live material and furniture switching

• Daylight simulation: see the space at any time of day

• Interactive Elements : doors, curtains.

• Map System, Camera Modes, Graphic Settings & more

Disclaimer: The camera mode is basically the Advanced Photo Mode found on the epic market, Most of the materials used in the project are from Megascans.

So what’s your feedback guys ?

Share work ✴ Following up on my Argentine "Casa Chorizo" D5 Render horror project: I just finished Episode 2 ("Police Evidence")!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! A couple of weeks ago I shared my first short film here using SketchUp and D5 Render to turn a 1920s Argentine "casa chorizo" into a non-Euclidean analog horror environment. The feedback and award you guys gave me on that post honestly pushed me to keep expanding the series!

Since I already had the architectural model built and textured, I put together a tighter 3-minute follow-up episode showing what happens hours later when the missing student's friend keeps searching the house, finds the dropped camcorder on the hallway floor, and hands the tape over to the local police forensics division.

**Workflow & new adjustments:**

- **Modeling & Scene:** SketchUp + D5 Render (reusing the residential asset and adding a dark police evidence room scene lit almost entirely by a CRT monitor).

- **Camera & Post:** Added handheld camera shake (`wiggle`) + motion blur and optical lens distortion in After Effects, downscaled to 320x240 and upscaled back to 1080p in Premiere Pro for authentic 2006 miniDV compression (100% 3D CGI, zero generative AI).

🔗 **Watch Episode 2 ("Police Evidence" - 3 min) on YouTube (English CC available):** https://youtu.be/dck9bbptdcU

🔗 **Episode 1 (Full 10-min original tape):** https://youtu.be/_kuHfoPc4SE

Would love to hear what you think of the camera movement and the VHS grading on this one!

Technical & professional question Just finished my archviz master's — how did you land your first studio job or clients?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey everyone

I recently finished my master’s in architectural visualization and I’m now trying to break into the field professionally. I’ve been building my own work — dropping a recent conceptual piece (Agora Coffee, made for the Rookie Awards) in a comment so you can see where I’m at.

My question is less about the render and more about the path in:

  1. For those working in studios — how did you land your first job? Cold applications, LinkedIn, referrals, ArtStation/Discord visibility…? What actually worked?
  2. For freelancers — where do your first clients really come from when starting out?
  3. Any studios or regions (I’m in Barcelona / Europe) known for hiring juniors?

I’m comfortable in Unreal Engine 5.5 and 3ds Max. Trying to be smart about where to put my energy instead of spraying applications blindly. Any honest advice is hugely appreciated

I need feedback 360 Tours

For those doing pano tours: how are you handling dollhouse or floorplan views at the moment?

I've been building something that generates the 3D floorplan straight from the panos (low-poly proxy or depth maps) and would love some people to try it and pick it apart.

Free 10-pano trial, and happy to give extra time and storage if you want to throw a bigger tour at it. Link below
