Gonna sound like a boomer here, but it seems to me like gym etiquette in Singapore gyms in general has taken a dip for the worse. For context, I've been a casual gymmer since I was in university 20 years ago so I have seen the progression of gymmers from gen Xs/millenials to gen Xs/millenials and now, Gen Zs. Have gymmed in school gyms, AF, Safra, FF (basically the whole gamut).
I generally like to finish my gym session in 1 - 1.5 hours so it's really just focused sets with 1 - 2 min breaks in the middle. However, the young kids nowadays take so damn long to do a set (and multiples of them want to share) that I end up waiting 5 - 8 min for my next set.
Just yesterday, someone asked to share (not generalizing but it was a young kid), and I said Ok. The dude took 2 min to add additional plates, then rests awhile before actually doing the exercise, proceeds to do single arms (so double the time), rests between the arms, and then just gets off without unloading to my original weights. All in all, it was about 5 min. I was baffled.
That's just one of the more egregious examples but there are many more examples e.g. wearing uncovered footwear to the gym, 1 person asking to share and then suddenly its the whole gang, doing 1 arm exercises when 2 arms is equally efficient etc.

I usually just make mine at the Owndays.
They are affordable so I didn't expect them to last.
My issue is that I have the habit of washing my spectacle during the shower so there is a chance that I will drop them on the ceramic tile floor and scratch the lens while soaping them (slippery).
The other solution is to wash them in the kitchen sink but hard habit to break and I always end up walking into the shower with the spectacle on.
I have heard of brands like Kodak, Hoya offering their lens and wondering if these are tougher?
Please share if you have one that are less prone to scratches.

Is getting a 2rm BTO as a single basically locking in your singlehood for life?
Assuming you get a flat allocated, it's another 3 years to build, 5 years to MOP (or 10 for plus/prime). Basically locking you into singlehood for the next 8-13 years. If you somehow find a partner before MOP, and need a bigger space, you are in a terrible position unless you are wanting to go the resale route and basically forfeit your BTO privileges

I (30f) recently started work with this SME. The HR manager is a local guy in his late 50s. This is the second time that it has happened. The man doing this to me is the bloody HR manager. I look around me and everyone is stone faced, I dont know why tf am I being targeted. He kind of says it as a joke but the fact that he did it AGAIN is really pissing me off. The lack of professionalism is bloody outrageous.
The first time it happened I just gave a nervous laugh and looked away. This time just a strained smile but I know the irritation was clear on my face. If there is a third time there will be a murder trial. (For legal purposes.../s)
Wtf can I do? I want to make sure to nip the issue at the bud before this becomes a TAFEP case.

What are some skills that older generations used to know how to do, but younger people nowadays generally don't learn anymore? I'm talking about practical, hands-on skills that are becoming less common but are still very useful and can earn you a decent living.
For example, knowing how to repair air conditioners, fix electrical appliances, do plumbing, or repair things around the house. Nowadays, many people would rather pay someone to fix these things because they don't know how to do it themselves.
I'm curious to hear from people who have experience in these trades or know someone who does. What are some underrated skills that are still in demand, have good earning potential, and might be worth learning today? Especially skills that could potentially turn into a side hustle or even a full-time business!

Some background information, Iām currently 21 yo (female, so I donāt have to go NS š ). Graduated with experiential product & interior design diploma and currently working at my internship company that designs high end hotels (hospitality sector).
Iāve been working since 2025 June, so itās been roughly 1y+, and Iāve been thinking on whether I should pursue a degree soon. I do want to study university, if we are speaking purely on my interest wise, Iām interested in psychology (who isnāt haha). But doesnāt have to necessarily be this course.
Many of my current co-workers have been telling me to pursue a degree/telling me to change industry, or telling me Iāll regret it if I donāt get a degree. My relatives are also in favour of me getting a degree, with the sole exception being my dad. He thinks that degree is a waste of time (in his opinion) and that Iāll be too behind my other peers if I go pursue full-time degree next year. I do think his words have merits to it. But so do my co-workers.
Unfortunately, if I do want to pursue full-time, I will have to loan/apply for financial scheme because I donāt have financial support, and living expenses comes from my own pocket. (Yes Iām basically on my own). But Iām also well aware the hard work that I will have to put in if I keep my full-time job and take on part-time degree.
So here comes my question, to those that have studied part time degree or those that have been working with only diploma, or whoever has insight to situations similar to mine, what do you do in this scenario? Or any kind of advice š„²š„² because I feel like Iām at a lost with so many people telling me what I should be doing⦠It would be great to hear about your own personal experience and how you are doing in life right now. Itās like Iām stuck in the middle of a crossroad with zero visibility on where the paths will take me.
Sorry for the long yap and thank you if you read the whole thing lol.
Tldr; should I pursue full-time or part-time degree as a 21yo with zero financial support? Or do I continue working in the design sector and NOT pursue a degree for now?

Iām a fresh grad and applied for an audit associate role in all of the big 4 firms in September and October. It has been 2-3 weeks and now closing in to a month but no reply, do I assume I got rejected or is it because there are 1000s of applications that they need to filter, the uncertainty is killing me. What do I do at the moment? Apply for mid tier firm FT?
Anyone who are fresh grads right now too share your experience thanks!! I just feel very depressed the more days pass by but no reply, checking my mail everyday.

Itās damn dumb but according to the Association of trade. You need to have a business then register in order to see the people who won the awards?
Itās kinda bizarre to me. Especially since Iām like going to run a bootstrapped start up in Payroll Software, looking for solutions. Why even have the awards list if you can only login to see?

For those who went from 2B ā 2A ā Class 2, did anyone here only ride bikes during riding school lessons and never actually ride outside after passing TP?
If so, was it still possible to pass the next licence levels with just the school lessons, or did you find the lack of riding experience made it much harder?
Curious to hear from anyone who has done this. Any tips?

Hi there, wanted some advice or if anyone has any experience on keeping a gap between the kitchen windows (yes aware the need to keep to maintain cohesive look for condo) but having it closed and then building like a backing for more kitchen space?
My main concern would be being unable to check for the hinges and windows in future with tougher access, mold, heat trapping, not sure if it is a BCA fire hazard issue?
Does anyone have any advice or experience on the matter?
Wouldn't have considered this if I had better options to optimize space in the kitchen :(
Thanks

I want to try buying progressive lenses from an online website. I need to key in a prescription.
If I go to a neighborhood spectacles shop it sometimes feel like I need to buy spectacles, though I know you can just pay money and get the prescription only.
Is there any place I can go to in SG just for a prescription where they are likely to not pressure you to buy? Thanks.

Just found out that 31st October halloween is falling on a Saturday and wanted to find out if thereās gonna be any happening parties with alcohol this coming Saturday night. 10 years ago Clarke quay and Boat Quay would have been the place to be to party all night long but thatās not the case now unfortunately. Was wondering where else do people go to for some Halloween nightlife parties.

Heading to Singapore for 4 days with our 16-month-old and staying in Bugis.
We love food, particularly street food and local spots, as well as nature, parks and exploring neighbourhoods.
Would love recommendations for places to eat, things to see and do, and any hidden gems worth checking out. Particularly keen on places that are manageable with a toddler.
Not looking to pack too much into each day, just keen to experience as much of Singapore as we can at a relaxed pace.
Thanks!

Have an opportunity to do a six month internship in Singapore. I love to travel and in my head this seems like a great opportunity to do so while gaining work experience but curious what locals have to say about quality of life.
Edit: Should specify by ālove to travelā I mean the opportunity of traveling to Singapore sounds great although would definitely love to visit neighboring countries if possible.

I've always struggled with my weight and I never was able to consistently lose weight. Been seeing quite a lot of people on GLP-1s now and I feel like it might be my best option. I'm currently 100kg so I don't know if that's high enough to get and use.
I wanted to try polyclinic way but people told me they only recommend if I'm morbidly obese. Generally how expensive is the medicine monthly too?

To what extent would a nuclear power plant built in Batam affect housing prices in Singapore, especially along the East Coast?
TBH, i have little confidence in their ability to maintain a nuclear power plant when they still struggle to get the forest fires under control.
