Stats At 3.19 goals per game, this is the “goaliest” JPL season in 23 years (since 2002/03)
This was a pretty goal-crazy gamewereld. Every single game got at least 3 goals and there were a few goalfests: 3-0, 2-2, 3-0, 4-4, 2-1, 3-2, 4-0, 5-2. In total 37 goals in 8 games so far, joint-most per game since 2010.
So I got curious, is this a trend for this season? And how does it compare with previous ones. So it turns out that at 3.19 goals per game in average, this is the “goaliest” season in 23 years (2002/03). The chart plots JPL goals per game for the last 50 seasons.
What do you guys think? Has there been a shift in how JPL teams play, or just a temporary spike that will go back to normal? Maybe also some no playoff effect? Teams like Brugge, Ghent, Union going all in at the start of the season?
