Recommendation Costco Buy Today
No idea why it's "Nashville Fried Chicken" instead of hot chicken because they're clearly spicy but whatever. These go well together, I'd buy em again. Obviously don't recommend if you hate pickle.
I've seen the pickle ones on their own but never the chicken ones.

I recently discovered that these Western Family brand chips are surprisingly good, and these dill chips blew me away! I will be buying more in the future.

Discussion Where did your country's "default" chip flavour come from? Some surprising origin stories
I've been reading up on how each country ended up with its "default" chip flavour. A few facts surprised me:
- Japan started with seaweed, not salt. Koikeya's first potato chip in 1962 was Nori Shio (seaweed salt), chosen because it was a flavour people already knew. Calbee came later: Usushio (lightly salted) in 1975, Norishio in 1976 and Consommé Punch in 1978. Those three are still the backbone of the shelf.
- Calbee keeps 50+ potato chip varieties on sale and releases around 100 flavours a year once limited and regional editions are counted. That's why the konbini shelf always looks different.
- Mexico's Sabritas began on a bicycle. Pedro Marcos Noriega started it in Mexico City in 1943, delivering snacks by bike. The name blends sabrosas (tasty) and fritas (fried). Takis came much later: invented in 1999 and first sold as "Taquis". The purple-bag Fuego arrived in 2006.
- Korea's Honey Butter Chip (Haitai, August 2014) caused actual shortages. Stores ran out, Haitai ran its factory around the clock, and bags were resold online at inflated prices. In Oct–Nov 2014 it topped snack sales at GS25, CU and 7-Eleven.
- Korea's chip market was a two-brand fight before that. Nongshim launched the country's first fresh-potato chip in 1980. Orion answered with Poca Chip in 1988 and overtook Nongshim in 2000.
What's the "default" flavour where you live, and is there a story behind it? I'd especially love to hear from places I know little about (Nordics, Middle East, South America).

Review These are fantastic!!!
I fell in love with this brand last time I was in Paris. I brought 4 different flavors home in my checked bag and all but one popped open during the flight. I still ate all of them.
I picked this up at a bougie wine shop in McLean, Va., yesterday. The flavor was one I hadn't seen in France. They were potatoey and creamy with a hit of garlic. Tasted just like mayonnaise sauce. I dip fries in mayo and these reminded me a lot of that. I will be going back to that wine shop for more!!

Discussion Are there any more GOOD jalapeño chips out there??
To start, Miss Vickie’s was never my favorite of them. I was a Jay’s Krunchers jalapeño simp. After years of not buying any jalapeño chips at all (tbh I love them, but I gravitate more toward a lays wavy easy salt or hot Cheetos more often), I bought Jay’s KRUNCHERS a couple of weeks ago and I was CRUSHED. NO COLOR, NO FLAVOR, NO SPICE, LESS KRUNCH. I did some research to find that they changed their recipe.
Today I wanted some redemption and decide to go for Ms Vs and I am SO DISAPPOINTED AGAIN. It’s as if they switched to Jay’s recipe but made it WORSE.
I am chasing the high that I got from old school Jay’s. Please, someone help me. I am in Illinois if there’s local brands to try. I still have Kettle Brand and Boulder to try, but I’m worried it’s going to also be a waste of money.
PS- Jay, if you’re reading this, you have betrayed me worse than my ex boyfriend.

Recommendation Shout out to Fritos for actually filling the darn bags
These spicy bbq corn twists sent necessarily chips/crisps but they’re in the ballpark. They’re good, would prefer a bit more flavour and very corny (as you’d expect) but the point in this post is to applaud Fritos for FILLING THE DARN BAG TO ALMOST BURSTING. There’s a genuine ton of them in this bag, and it cost the same price as any other on the shelf. Kudos for that alone.
