Hey everyone!
Lots going on for sure, I wanted to make a post to discuss some upcoming changes to the Subreddit.
New Mods
First and most importantly we will bringing on some new Moderators in the coming week to help ensure we have a more responsive team with better timezone coverage.
Feedback Megathreads
For right now Feedback Megathreads will not continue for Feedback related posts, however keep in mind that Repeated Content is still against the Rules and as such we will be removing anything that isn’t adding anything new to the discussion happening at the time.
Discord List
We will be providing a more comprehensive list of Discord Servers for all versions of Classic based on some very basic criteria that must be met and there will be a Form to Submit to the Mod Team for these.
Requirements are TBA, but essentially as long as your Server is following the Discord ToS you will be added.
Updating Flair
We will be archiving the Beta Feedback Flair on Nov 4th, and turning on several new Forever Flair; Feedback, Bug, Suggestion.
Launch FAQ
We will be hosting an FAQ that will be permanently linked in the Menu Bar, and as a result will be continuously updated via Player Suggestions.
AI Content Survey
There will be a Survey Posted about AI on r/ClassicWoW to see how we feel about it and to survey some changes that may happen to how we handle AI on the Subreddit.
Subreddit Feedback & Suggestions
We are always accepting Feedback and Suggestions in ModMail, we do read them even if we don’t respond and appreciate every bit of Feedback you send.
Can’t wait to have so much fun here… forever.

Its not elitist or retail brained. Its common courtesy. If you are already ready to go, you shouldn't feel bad about not wanting to wait for someone to finish a quest, turn it in then travel from the other side of the world while you stare at the wall. Kick them. Or better yet just check where they are first. But never let people put you on blast for being ready to go and having standards. No, its not part of the experience. Its just a part of theirs.

Yet people will spend days farming professions, reputation, dungeons, raids, or buckets of gold all for a 1-2% upgrade.
Classic warrior prebis with Heart of Wyrmthalak instead of Hand of Justice - 1479 DPS
Classic warrior prebis with Hand of Justice - 1504 DPS - 1.7% difference
Warrior p2 BiS - 1525 DPS
Warrior p3 BiS - 1617 DPS - 6% difference, 7 items replaced = 0.86% DPS increase per piece replaced.
People will spend literal weeks/a ton of money on ZG rep for a shoulder enchant that's worth less than 1% dps.
Warrior p3 BiS without ZG shoulder enchant - 1617 DPS
Warrior p3 BiS with ZG enchant - 1631 DPS - 0.9% DPS increase
Any singular gear upgrade in WoW tends to be a 1-2% DPS increase and they tend to take days, or weeks, or in the case of BoEs a lot of gold to get. Contrast that to racials that take a single button press at the start of your character's creation to get the same benefit.
Days/weeks of effort vs 1 button click.
And this isn't even talking about the 5% beast/elemental racials. If a skelf does more DPS than a gnome against standard enemies, then why do they do an additional 5% more damage against elementals as well?
So if you're someone who doesn't think 1-2% matters then keep that in mind next time you lose your BiS item roll to someone else. Keep that in mind when you spend money on enchanting your gear. Because WoW is literally all about 1-2% incremental increases and it's silly to pretend otherwise.

This is a PSA to please please please please please join a guild if you have any desire to raid in WoW Forever. During SoD, a lot of people were complaining on here about how raid content was too difficult, and even the devs had to step in and tell people to join a guild.
I promise you that you will have a better time if you just join a guild that works with your raiding schedule. You'll be able to make friends, raid on a consistent schedule, have a consistent quality of raid nights, and not have to compete with a revolving door of people for loot.
There's a disproportionate amount of people on this sub who only pug, and most of the problems they complain about on here would be resolved by not pugging and just joining a guild. This includes long raid nights, idiots dragging down the whole raid, and over-competition for loot. I'm not saying that guilds can't be bad or can't have idiots in them, but you can always just jump ship and find a quality guild; I promise you that they're out there, and they're not as hard to find as you might think.
Of course, Reddit is Reddit and people always have excuses:
"I don't have a consistent play schedule!"
That's fine. You can join a guild that has multiple raid teams that raid on multiple nights.
"I don't want to deal with corruption!"
Just leave and find a better guild, or don't join a guild with a loot system that you don't like.
"I don't want to play with a bunch of sweaty tryhards!"
That's fine. Casual dad guilds exist. Just join one of those.
If you've played in a competent guild before and just genuinely prefer to pug, then of course I'm not casting shade on you whatsoever; honestly this post isn't meant for you. I'm just suggesting that serial puggers may have a better time if they leave their comfort zone and try to join a community of likeminded people. I understand that much of this behavior is borne out of social anxiety, but there's merit in leaving your comfort zone and getting some social reps in.
If you've had a bad experience with a guild or two and have sworn off joining one again, I'm begging you to give it another shot and genuinely try to find a guild that aligns with your play style and goals.
EDIT: I'm not telling you to join a guild right this instant. Just whenever you reach level cap and want to raid.

The amount of hype surrounding WoW Forever is honestly starting to feel unreal.
I’m hearing people talk about it everywhere, even in real life, which is something I’ve barely experienced with WoW before.
Strangely enough, I don’t think I’ve fully processed just how big this launch is going to be. I’m excited, but cautiously optimistic, almost like I’m mentally unprepared for the sheer scale of what’s coming.
The more people I hear talking about it, the more I realize this might genuinely eclipse the 2019 Classic launch. And that’s saying something, because 2019 was absolutely massive.
There’s this growing feeling that we’re about to experience something special. Not just another WoW launch, but potentially one of those rare gaming moments where everyone seems to be playing the same game at the same time.
I genuinely think WoW Forever is going to be something unlike anything we’ve experienced before.

I recognize that this may not be news to many of you but, to anyone that it is, I want to warn you not to purchase Battle.net currency if your intention is to use that currency to pay for one of WoW's various subscription bundles (particularly ahead of Forever's launch next week).
Essentially, Battle.net's storefront has a hidden design flaw: their subscription bundles (with their various mounts, pets, transmogs, etc.) are ineligible to be paid for using your Battle.net account balance and, intentionally or not, their subscription page provides you zero warning about this... as I only discovered this upon arriving at their final checkout screen...
Therein lies the predicament I now find myself in... I purchased $170 in Battle.net currency via Amazon because I happened to have a Prime Visa (thus enabling me to get 5% cashback instead of 3) and some accrued rewards dollars to spend and, by doing so, thought I could somewhat mitigate the cost of committing a year-in-advance to WoW: Forever (that I had already pre-purchased via the Warcraft Forever Bundle). When their system shockingly (at least to me) prevented me from doing this, I opened a ticket requesting that billing manually deduct the funds from my balance and then grant me the 12-month bundle, and above is the response I got...
In short, the GM told me that their system won't allow them to do this and their recommendation was to pay another $170 using a "valid recurring payment method" to get the bundle and to just leave my initial $170 sitting in my Battle.net wallet "for future purchases down the road."
My response (also above) was that I've been a sub, and Battle.net customer, for over 20 years and that telling a customer to casually float over $320 out of pocket because your automated storefront lacks basic structural transparency is ridiculous and that other platforms, like Xbox or PlayStation, let you fund recurring subscriptions via your digital wallet.
I've now requested a manual override to deduct the cost of the bundle from my account balance or to use that money to refund my credit card if forced to go that route.
TL;DR: Do NOT buy Battle.net currency if your intent is to then purchase a subscription bundle with it. Blizzard will take your money, lock it in your wallet, and then tell you to swipe your credit card a second time...

Just thought I'd share this here because I don't know anyone else that may understand this special pain.
Super duper looking forward to Nov 4, I will literally be living in the world of Warcraft forever. 😁
Edit didn't really expect anything but honestly seeing some of these replies makes me tear up. Ily guys ❤️🩹
Edit 2 Holy moly I'm blown away by the responses. This whole thing has felt like a piece of my body was ripped off and everything still sucks so much.
But seeing all the supportive replies here really made me feel like I'm not alone. It means everything. Thank you, see you all soon 07!

I really don’t understand the reasoning behind replacing Tauren’s 1% hit with 2% increased critical strike damage. Gotta think if I crit 1k, it’s doing 20 extra damage.. it’s practically useless. The 1% hit was a genuinely useful racial that benefited multiple specs and helped with gearing, especially early on when hit rating is harder to come by. Meanwhile, 2% increased critical strike damage only provides value when you actually crit, does nothing for your non-critical hits and its effectiveness varies depending on your class, spec and abilities. I’m not saying Tauren need to have the strongest racials in the game, but replacing something as consistently valuable as 1% hit with such a minor and conditional damage bonus feels like a pretty uneven trade. How is that a trade off for 1% hit? I’d love to see the developers either reconsider restoring the 1% hit or give Tauren something that provides comparable value. /moooo

I have a shop in Wetlands that make some really nice swiftthistle oil, but at 30mg a day at my age, I need to lower the intake. Let's reset those diminishing returns friends, make sure that soundtrack hits extra hard on November 4th.

I am still confused on the lore explanation on a Dwarf Shaman starting out in Bronzebeard territory. Why not add a small zone in the Hinterlands where the actual Dwarven clan revolving around shamanism exists, akin to Undead Paladins having their own little seperate starting zone?
If the PC is a Bronzebeard, why did they suddenly decided to adopt shamanism out of the blue? You're taking a very thematic thing of a Dwarven clan and give it to the other one.

Numbers can change, but in essence having SoR be a competitve option for both prot (for threat gain) and ret nessesitates that the Sp coef must be kept in check. This essentially creates a balance issue where blizz have to balance for one handers first, and two handers last. This in turn causes ret to shy away from faster twohanders into slower two handers, because white hits are much easier to scale. This in turn causes SoR to have an even smaller impact on dps. This, on top of the heavy mana requirement to make the forever sealtwisting work, makes the capstone kind of sus.
Again, i think its fair to argue that this is just a numbers game, and it can be balanced for. However, WoW forevers "easy twisting" also fails by design to hook into what feels good about tbc sealtwisting - it is a super unique playstyle that rewards timing and you feel like you're doing something awesome when it works.
I totally get the argument that forever should not be too complex, and the fact that the original sealtwisting was bugged behaviour abusing server tick functionality. Seal twisting is not for everybody either, so other options should be competitive.
But i really hope that blizzard takes a long hard look at this twisting mechanic and makes sure it succeeds at what it set out to do. I think the current iteration will fall flat for ret players old and new, and that it is a design issue first and foremost.
In tbc, ret pala gearing felt good because of the fact that spell damage was a secondary scaling option and that both SoB and SoC scaled from AP. Now we suddenly want to twist with seals that are competing for completely different stats on your gear and speeds on your weapon. I think it can work with a lot of continous balancing, but it is super ambitious.
It is very unfortunate that we didnt get to test this talent in particular in the beta, as it is one of those talents that really change the core playstyle.
