Updated Release Halloween 6: Hybrid Cut

• Upvotes

Note: This is a reupload of my previous edit with a few minor tweaks (additional footage, adjusted video & audio transitions).

The revised version of my Halloween 6: Hybrid Cut is ready! As I stated in my previous post, my aim in this fan edit is to incorporate the best parts of the Producer's Cut while leaving the Theatrical Cut basically intact.

Included from the Producer's Cut:

- extended footage
- extended dialogue
- omitted scenes

From the Theatrical Cut:

- the more graphic kills
- richer cinematography

Both cuts are scanned from the original negatives, so they are in their original widescreen format and the color grades match.

I've also included an extended Wynn/Loomis dialogue from the rare Director's Cut (which is something completely different from the Producer's Cut) taken from a VHS workprint.

PM me your email address for the link.

Work in Progress The Evil Dead: HD Theatrical Reconstruction V2

Thumbnail

This edit was done in an attempt to reconstruct the original 1983 theatrical release of The Evil Dead. Some people have done this before, but have their own unique way of creating it. I've also noticed on those other versions that they tend to leave in some of the alterations that were done to the 2010 Anchor Bay Blu-Ray. It is important to note that while the 2018 Lionsgate 4K release reverts some of these changes, I do not have digital access to that release, meaning that I could only use the older, more tweaked Blu-Ray release with the DVDs to fill in the gaps. Any scene that utilized the DVD was tweaked to make it look more like an HD source.

My original version of this project was made back in July of this year, and didn't bother to color grade the film. For this version, I have color graded it to have a distinct blue look, as some of the die-hard fans of this film believe that a colder grade benefits the horror aspect of things. It's a rather simple grade, but should be effective nonetheless.

I am attempting to sync all of the audio tracks listed in the posters above, and only have to do three more, they are as follows:

  • 1.0 Original French Dub From 1983
  • 2.0 French Redub from 2003
  • 2.0 Isolated Score

Other Foreign language dubs will certainly be considered if I ever get access to them.

P.S. to the moderators, because this is the first time I'm posting a project, I'm not entirely sure how the Fan Edit Central process works. Do I only do it after I'm finished with it?

Sincerely,

MovieMason

Work in Progress X-men: Second Class

This will be a fanedit of X-men: Apocalypse that cuts out almost every scene that doesn't include the younger cast of Cyclops, Jean, Nightcrawler, etc. And also cuts out Apocalypse, hence the name change.

It will open up with the Jean Grey intro from Dark Phoenix, then the Nightcrawler cage fight.

After that it will mostly follow scenes with Scott, Jean, etc.

The Mall deleted scene will be added back.

Apocalypse will be entorely cut, as will Magneto.

Then mansion blowing up will be framed as the doings of Stryker.

The movie will end after they escape from Strykers facility and have the same final scene as Apocalypse.

Deleted scene of Moira arresting Stryker will be added back.

New Release The Movie Pace Project: Dressrosa Is Next + Thriller Bark Finale Release

I’m happy to announce that the next major Movie Pace release will be the Dressrosa Arc. It’s halfway done being edited, and I’m currently estimating that the entire project will consist of around 14–15 movies. I’m aiming to release the Dressrosa movies by January 2027 or earlier.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to share a movie I’ve recently finished editing: the finale of the Thriller Bark Arc. Those who have watched up to the end of episode 372 can now experience the remainder of the arc in a movie format, with smooth transitions between episodes and improved pacing, all without sacrificing the feel of the original broadcast. Clocking in at 02:33:44, this edit covers episodes 373–381, cutting around 13 minutes of watch time (or even more if you count openings, recaps, eye catchers, and previews). After watching this movie, I recommend skipping episodes 382–384 to avoid filler before picking up again at episode 385.

I know it might seem strange to edit the Water 7 Saga and then have what seems like such a large gap before the Thriller Bark finale, but I originally worked on this movie just for fun as a break from Dressrosa. I had planned to save it for a future batch release of the Thriller Bark Arc, but I ended up being too proud of how this one turned out to keep it to myself. I also wanted to release something for the r/fanedits community and One Piece fans in the meantime, rather than just making a simple announcement about what’s coming next.

Whether it’s your first time watching One Piece or you feel like rewatching this part of the series, check out the updated Linktree on my profile. The Dressrosa movies are coming along, and I’ll share them once they’re ready. Until then, enjoy this new installment of the Movie Pace project.

New Release Dragon Ball Kai Gaiden: Saiyan Training Arc (RELEASE)

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

I started this edit as someone who’d only really watched Dragon Ball Z through Kai but was interested in some of the extra material only in the original anime. My goal with Dragon Ball Kai Gaiden is to make these filler scenes from throughout the series feel more like meaningful side stories rather than just time wasters. To essentially inject the great moment-to-moment pacing of Kai, with some fun side stories. To do that, I removed a lot of the dead air, meandering scenes, and entire plotlines, particularly here with Gohan, that I felt didn’t add much and were expressed better elsewhere. By doing this I managed to cut what was 12 episodes in the original DBZ down to only 6, while in this section Kai only had 2 episodes. Not only did I shorten the arc, but I also rearranged certain storylines (such as the Planet Arlia Filler) to fit better with the canon material and give the overall structure a better flow than the original DBZ version. I think what I came to in the end strikes a nice balance of fleshing out the pre-Saiyan training while not having it drag on for too long.

In simple terms, think of DB Kai Gaiden as “DLC” for the original Kai that you watch inbetween certain episodes.

To achieve my goal, I not only had to cut and edit the filler down but also made sure it fit better with Kai by creating new recaps, endings, and eye-catchers. With the newly made recaps, I didn’t want to use Kyle Herbert’s narration, AI voices, or anything like that so the narrator has been replaced by simply using dialogue and SFX from the episode to summarize the previous episode. I think it works overall since it’s sorta like how it was in the original DBZ sub which used the narrator more sparingly in the recaps. The new endings are done the same way but that’s more similar to how it was already done in Kai so the difference is not so apparent. I think the eye-catches are the most interesting because I actually drew new ones specifically for this project based on the different filler arcs. They’re not perfect or match exactly with the official ones but I think they’re fun and add to the overall vibe of the project.

This project is only available in the dub since that’s how I watch Dragon Ball in general, plus it would add a lot to the editing load if I attempted a Japanese version as well. However, attempts are made throughout to remove extra or dumb lines from the Funimation dub, though not all. Each episode comes with two audio tracks: Kikuchi and Yamamoto. Both versions use the full range of tracks from each score, and for Kikuchi depending on the scene I used the original placements or did my own thing. It’s been really fun getting to play around with both soundtracks and seeing what I can come up with, though I personally prefer Kikuchi. I also decided for this project to keep the footage consistent by replacing all the Dragon Ball Z Kai footage with upscaled Dragon Box footage, which surprisingly wasn’t as hard to sync up as you’d think. Though it won’t be consistent during a watch-through of Kai it’ll look a lot nicer and it's not like Kai didn’t have ups and downs when it came to video quality. In the upcoming arcs of this project, I plan to use Neo Raws 16mm footage now that I have acess to it.

For this project, I also had to come up with a numbering system for the episodes. Whole numbers represent episodes that are meant to replace existing Kai episodes, so you would watch my version of Episode 6 instead of the official Kai Episode 6. Episodes with decimals (for example 5.2 or 7.1) are additional side episodes that fit in between the normal Kai episodes. These should be watched after the episode they branch from; for instance, in this arc you would watch Episodes 5.1–5.3 after the official Kai Episode 5.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how this turned out; I can safely say this is the best editing I’ve done so far, despite the number of hurdles I had with my editing software. Though not perfect, I will definitely be adding these episodes to my next full watch-through of Kai and hopefully some of you will too! Next, I plan on working on filler stuff from pre-Namek (Yes, even Fake Namek) so look forward to that! Also, I will look into getting some English subtitles started for the episodes I already have completed.

Detailed Episode List and Changes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17IR ... p=drivesdk

Feel free to leave any questions or feedback you have in the comments, I’d love to hear whatver ya’ll have to say about the edit!

For a download link please DM me or check my Reddit profile. As always, support the official release!

Episode 7.1 of this arc leads directly into the vanilla Dragon Ball Z Kai Episode 8, in whatever format or with whatever score you decide! If you’re looking for some other DBZ Kai fan projects I’d recommend:

Wishlist & Ideas Alvin and the Chipmunks movies (with normal voices on the chipmunks actors without high pitching effect) Audioedit

Post image
10 Upvotes

I was watching many videoclips from Alvin and the chipmunks pitched down, I mean, with the chipmunks characters talking with the normal voices of the actors that voice them: Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, Jesse McCartney, Christina Applegate, Anna Harris and Amy Poehler (3rd film)/Kaley Cuoco (4th) without high pitching effect. So, I have the curiosity and want, sometimes imagining a little bit, to see the full films saga, at least the live actions with this concept. I would like to know if somebody in this platform can make a fanedit, or better said, an audio edit if I can call it this way, from the full films and give the chipmunks a most natural and pleasant talking tone, I recommend to use ai tools to separate the voices from the background sound and from the human characters (like Dave, Ian, etc) voices so they don't change too (like usually happens in some of this vids I saw), making the most closely clean audio as possible.

I know that the high pitched voices are so characteristic and recognizable from the Chipmunks and take it away can make them lose "The squirrel effect" but at least consider it as a alternate curiosity than a replacement from their original gaudy voices. Let me know and I will read you.

Hey folks..

like you all might remember that a few weeks back I made a post about how I'm working on this new edit called The Bay Harbor Butcher and it covers the events of Showtime's Dexter Season 2 but entirely from Debra Morgan's perspective.

Just like the previous edit, this edit also features the soundtrack from IT: Chapter Two.

For something new, if thats what you're thinking.. it gives you a different perspective to Dexter's character and what's he like in Debra's eyes.

Runtime: 2 Hours, 49 Minutes

I hope you guys would enjoy this edit and if you're interested in watching this please simply send me a personal message.

Thanks.

Wishlist & Ideas Opening of Halloween Ends edited into Halloween Kills?

Has anyone seen a fanedit that moves the beginning of Halloween Ends introducing Corey Cunningham over to Halloween Kills or maybe even Halloween (2018)? You would have to adjust the timeline of the movies to make the events happen on the same night as Halloween Kills (and/or Halloween 2018) but I think this would help a little with the issue of Cunningham suddenly showing up in Ends and would flow a little better.

If it has been done, where did they put the Cunningham opening? Did they merge it into the events of the same night as Kills & Halloween (2018) or did they use it as a post credit sequence?

Work in Progress The 1.66 Truman Show

Thumbnail
youtu.be
43 Upvotes

I’ve always loved The Truman Show. And I have been aware that Peter Weir may have framed it in a very unique 1:66 aspect ratio. So when I discovered that the 1999 DVD was released in this ratio, I thought I would try to combine the 1.66 aspect ratio with 4K HDR resolution by combining the DVD and UHD together.

I kept the UHD as the heart of every frame and rebuilt the missing edges from the DVD: upscaled, color-matched and grain-matched so the seam disappears.

It's very much a work in progress because I've gone down some rabbit trails and wound up having to redo some work. Presently, I am starting a 20-hour rebuilding run of the underlying DVD image and patching some workflows based on that.

Then, once the new settings are confirmed and things are tested, my final output render is expected to take more than a week. Hopefully soon.

New Release🏅 El Camino: A Breaking Bad Coda

Post image
49 Upvotes

TAGLINE

Run from things. Or face them.

SYNOPSIS

Following his escape from captivity, Jesse Pinkman sets out to secure his freedom and leave his past behind. With the police closing in and few options remaining, he must find a way forward before the world he's escaped catches up with him.

MOTIVATION & VISION

El Camino always telegraphed as a story that didn't really need telling. Most of the characters of note (friend and foe) were either dead or irrelevant. Rather than revisiting Jesse's trauma through extended flashbacks and returning to characters whose stories have already concluded, I wanted to shape the film into a more focused coda/final episode to Breaking Bad.

This edit emphasizes Jesse's forward momentum: escaping, finding the means to start over, and finally reaching the future Mike once told him was possible. The past remains present, but it surfaces through brief memories and fragments rather than repeatedly interrupting the story.

The result is a leaner, imagined final episode of Breaking Bad, Episode 517-- El Camino, built around one central idea: Jesse getting out clean-- and nothing else.

CUT & TECHNICAL DETAILS

Opening & Presentation

  • Reframed the film to 16:9 to match the presentation of Breaking Bad.
  • Added the opening credits from the series.

Omissions | Additions

  • Episode now begins with Skinny Pete and Badger playing video games, with Jesse already outside. The finale hinge-- his screaming behind the wheel-- is gone.
  • Reworked the shower sequence (removing Jesse being hosed by the gang) with a subjective montage of traumatic moments from Breaking Bad, conveying the lasting psychological impact of Jesse's captivity.
  • Removed Joe's appearance, keeping Jesse's escape moving without an unnecessary detour.
  • Added Jesse's brief memory flash of Walt in the RV, triggered by the radio announcement of his death.
  • Removed ALL Todd material. Not only were his size and age incredibly (almost blatantly) distracting but his death at the end of the show made his presence redundant.
  • Added flashes of Episode 505 [Dead Freight]: the spider, Drew Sharp waving and Todd waving back-- to give context that the apartment Jesse is raiding is Todd's.
  • Removed the flashbacks connecting Kandy to Jesse's imprisonment, shifting his role from tormentor to purely an obstacle/lever Jesse encounters while trying to secure his freedom. Kandy is framed now as some guy who just happened to have the inside track on Todd-- how he knows is left a mystery.
  • Removed the Walter and Jesse diner flashback.
  • Jesse searching for the Disappearer's shop is gone. In this version, he simply finds it via the kidney-bean-shaped van.
  • A good portion of the Disappearer's scene has been cut for time and redundancy.
  • A chunk of Jesse calling his parents, them leaving, and Jesse's subsequent entry of their home has been cut.
  • Reduced Jesse trying to find a way into Kandy's welding yard.
  • Repositioned Mike's flashback from the opening to immediately before Jesse reaches the Canadian border, making his advice the final major memory he carries into his new life.
  • Removed the extended Jane flashback, retaining only a brief appearance during Jesse's final drive.

Music & Ending

  • Added America's Horse with No Name to soundtrack Jesse's drive into his new life.
  • Added a closing credits sequence sourced from Breaking Bad episode 515 [Granite State].

New Runtime: [59 mins]

New Release🏅 THE DAY OF THE JACKAL (2024) - Fanedited movieversion

Post image
36 Upvotes

While waiting for season 2 which is upon us in 2027.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt24053860/

Probably my favorite series (10 episodes) of 2024. I turned it into a fast-paced 188 minute movie. Rearranged parts of the chronology (all the small Afghanistan-flashbacks which is told in brief moments throughout the series have all been moved to the beginning as a pre-title sequence to tell a more coherent story, for example), overlayed some music and soundeffects to make everything appear seamless, completely re-arranged the title sequence, removed most of the Lashana Lynch's storyarc (the only weakpoint of the series - she now only appears near the end) and created english subtitles. The movie-version appears plothole free and can be seen if you haven't watched the whole series.

Link to the movie, 4K HDR, h.265, 5.1 audio. 25 GB: DM me.

Completed Fanedit Request Does anyone have a link to FireMerk and Veditor's Halloween fan edit, The Shape? It combined most of the modern movies into one narrative.

What I loved about this edit other than the way it takes some of the strongest parts of Zombies Halloween and stitches them together with some of the more recent David Gordon Green's trilogy, but the music ques were really good, using "Separate Ways" for the truck-stop bathroom murder, and "Goodbye Stranger" for the baseball beating of Steven as he makes a sandwiche.

The way they added a diegetic filter to make the songs feel like they're playing from an ambient radio but then it cuts through the mix.

I watched this on Halloween 5 years ago, and honestly I was taken aback at how amazing it was, it really grabbed ya.

Wishlist & Ideas Is there a kind of "Verbins-cut" of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'?

As in - an edit changing the fourth film so that it's more consistent with the first three. Similar lighting and colour so the visual tone is more consistent, musical cues from the first three films sprinkled into the fourth, overt "Marshallisms" taken out from one director to clear the way for the formula of the other, and so on?

Updated Release Maze Runner Trilogy to movie

Post image
20 Upvotes

A 3-to-1 edit that strips the Maze Runner trilogy down to the essentials, taking some liberties with the narrative to make it a more concise and less overly dramatic journey.

The runtime is about half the original trilogy length - clocking in at a little under three hours. Overall the vibe is far more suspenseful than the original - with a focus on the world and the journey rather than flashbacks and action.

The flare virus is left intentionally vague since the movie explanations felt heavy-handed to me, and I trust the viewer can understand the situation from the small glimpses we get of the world.

Please note: The remastered revision 8 of this edit has significant quality changes from the previous revision, so make sure you're watching the most recent version.

Cliptrailer: https://bestedit.net/trailer/Maze.Runner.2014-2018.Trailer.1080p.webm

Feel free to PM me on reddit, or email me if you want more info.

Change list:

+ move forward second movie intro as new opening for edit
- cut part of first movie's intro
- trim flashbacks to preserve suspense
- cut guy getting stung and exiled, just let the effects be implied from Alby
- cut Thomas trial and being locked up again
- move discussion of key part to later
- trim part of the griever attack on camp
- move forward flashback from second film
- cut the lab when exiting the maze
- trim explanation of flare virus, keep it more suspenseful
- cut most of the mall exploration, and guy being injured
- cut lightning storm
- trim Thomas and Brenda in basement, and cut their town adventure
- cut Brenda getting sick
- cut most of the third film
+ keep the train heist
+ keep selected parts to craft a much quicker ending

Completed Fanedit Request REQUEST: Marvel 24 or any other transformative Marvel fan edits

Curious if anyone has "Marvel 24" by "Remixed by Jorge", a 2008 mashup of 2000s marvel films Spiderman xmen f4 and hulk as an episode of 24.

Any other "remixed by Jorge" edits would also be appreciated. Seems to have long dissapeared from the community

Also looking for any other transformative marvel fan edits. Mashups, rescores, whatever as long as it is transformative. Needs to be more than just "made some cuts" or "added deleted scenes". The only one I have already is "Home Alone: Oh Snap!"

Updated Release The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord (Ahsoka Season 1 Movie Edit) - REMASTERED

Post image
95 Upvotes

In preparing for season 2, I’m finally re-releasing this edit with several changes, most notably I changed the source files to the blu-ray release. It is very high quality now. Say no to ugly macroblocks! I also did a new colorgrade in HDR.

Here’s the full changelog for this re-release:

  • Remastered in HDR
  • Higher quality bitrate (sourced from the Blu-ray release)
  • Exported frame rate is now 23.976 fps instead of 24 fps for better compatibility
  • Captions are embedded
  • Added a few more chapter markers
  • New opening crawl
  • Cleaned up several transitions and edits
  • Cut around 3 minutes off the total runtime
  • New coloring for the World Between Worlds
  • Total edits on timeline now totals 521
  • Reinstated Sabine reminiscing for a moment on the T-6
  • Added wolfwren glare on the Eye’s transport to Peridea
  • Traditional style credits (adds two minutes to runtime)

Here's the first 10 minutes comparing the orignal to my edit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tjHR-GxX36Hq2VmN39-K7ZJhSiN5fh7o/view?usp=sharing

___

Accolades:

"It just did not look/sound/feel like a fanedit film. You really did a stellar job. Kudos, kudos, kudos. ... You made Sabine more likable. Truly got across the meat of the story. Ahsoka was great. You cut the fat. We got who Ahsoka, Sabine, Thrawn, Morgan, even Hera was beautifully. And there was a clear throughline of this story. ... Just marvelous, Kestrel, marvelous! I just can’t say enough about the tightness of the editing and music. It’s just so expertly done. ... You’re taking a series and you’ve made a BRILLIANT, practically seamless film out of this that just works so dang well."
- Arabian on OT.com

"... An incredible change from watching the Disney version. Your version is the one to watch and honestly, I found no errors in editing or bad changes you made. So thank you for sharing this edit and you made this something that was actually enjoyable instead of that drag of a series."
- u/d-listener

"Enjoyed it immensely! You improved the pacing exponentially, & it felt so much more like SW."
-sgscobie on OT.com

The Ahsoka series is some of the best Star Wars has to offer but, in my opinion, was held back by poor editing, pacing, and lots of unnecessary dialogue. This movie edit changes that by condensing the series as much as possible and committing to a more theatrical experience. This edit aims to feel as though you could view it in a theater and have it stand side by side with other tent-pole Star Wars movies. This edit can fully replace the series for first time watchers. You won't be missing anything critical.

Rundown:

  • A new traditional-style crawl that retains the original series' music and red coloring
  • Significantly trimmed down every scene for pacing, adding new transitions where necessary
  • Removed particularly unnecessary dialogue, awkward pauses, and confusing beats
  • Several deleted scenes, a few rearranged scenes
  • No significant story changes

I have not kept track of every single change as it is in the hundreds. My timeline shows 521 edits!

Deleted scenes:

  • Several scenes have been significantly cut down but these are the ones that have been completely removed that I can think of:
  • Ahsoka and Huyang's conversation after her introduction on Arcana
  • Sabine reminiscing on Ahsoka's ship
  • Ahsoka and Hera's conversation about Sabine after she takes the map
  • Hera talking to Sabine in the hospital
  • Baylan and Shin arriving on Seatos (scene of Baylan looking up at the purrgil reused later on)
  • Ahsoka and Hera's conversation about Sabine on Corellia
  • Ahsoka and Sabine talking about her past training and Sabine trying to use the force on a mug
  • Hera leaving the fleet to go to Seatos
  • Baylan sending a hunting party out into the woods to attack the T-6 shuttle
  • Ahsoka waking up on the Ghost
  • The New Republic fleet arriving on Seatos and most related scenes
  • Sabine in the Eye of Sion's cell
  • Sabine fighting the raiders on Peridea
  • Hera's trial on Coruscant
  • Ahsoka viewing Anakin's old training holograms
  • Ahsoka and Huyang's conversation on their way to Peridea
  • Baylan and Shin's conversation while tracking Sabine
  • Shin being aided by the raiders during her attack
  • Baylan and Ahsoka's second fight on Peridea
  • Ezra building his lightsaber

Moved scenes:

  • Moved Sabine's conversation with Huyang in the hospital to before Ahsoka finds the droid, allowing all of Corellia to happen consecutively.
  • Morgan arrives on Seatos just before Ahsoka finds the droid and goes to Corellia.
  • World Between Worlds occurs immediately after the Eye of Sion enters hyperspace and is interrupted only once by the arrival of Hera on Seatos.
  • The Eye exits hyperspace as soon as Ahsoka enters hyperspace
  • Moved Ahsoka talking to Sabine about Anakin on top of the T-6 to the very end. This is the only significant story change I've made as I felt this conversation was important to include, but undermined the momentum built up in the third act. It serves better as a coda.
