Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Question about crazy delay: American-Boston to DFW

• Upvotes

Just flew into DFW from BOS on AA. Original flight was scheduled to leave around 10am (AA 479). It was one of several throughout the day from BOS to DFW. Got notice this morning around 6am that the flight would be delayed until 12:30pm for maintenance. Then around 10:30 the delay was extended until 1:30pm, then 2, then 3:30. We had the opportunity to rebook on the other flights, but we had checked bags, and the other flights were always a couple hours after the delayed departure time. The delays kept going, all the way to 8pm, after the last nonstop flight was scheduled to leave, so we couldn't rebook. Then it got bumped to 11pm departure. Luckily the last scheduled direct flight was also delayed, and we were able to get on it after waiting standby (AA 1401). The whole day, we never saw our purported plane. They even switched gates which made us think that we had a plane, but nope. The only thing we were ever told was "maintenance.". Just after boarding the last flight, we received notice that our original flight was again delayed until 7am. When we landed in DFW, I checked and the flight was still scheduled for 7am, with all seats available as I suppose everyone had rebooked.

My question is why would the airline not simply cancel the flight when it was apparent the flight wasn't happening? In the future, how can I tell the difference between a real 30 min maintenance delay and just being strung along to hang out in the airport for 13 hours? Any input/advice is appreciated.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Kuwait Airways connecting flights status in Kuwait international airport T4

• Upvotes

I have a ticket CAI-KWI-MNL on 18 Dec, which was booked early this year before the attacks on Kuwait. What is the status of connecting flights as of today? Are connecting flights in T4 still getting cancelled? Did anyone had their tickets cancelled during this month?

Help Needed MMT and Indigo playing with people’s mental health

• Upvotes

Hello everyone. I had a confirmed flight booked via MMT in Indigo from BKK(Bangkok) on 27th early morning. I completed web check in on 26th early. However when I landed in BKK, I was told by Indigo that the booking agency has cancelled my seat and flight. They showed me screen shots of PNR history where there are scary lines like “SR removed seat and flight for me and family “. When I called MMT I was out through automation and they kept on saying do you want refund. They never admitted to cancelling the seats. No one showed any empathy that a checked in seat was allowed to be cancelled without any intimation. What are my options. Posting this from BKK after booking another costly flight

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Query on Transit time at KL

Hi,

I have a flight that gets me to KL at 720 in the morning and from there I have a connecting flight to Labuan Bojo at 1045 am. Both the flights are operated by Air Asia but the ticket mentions self check in. So I am guessing I will have to re check in for the Labuan Bojo flight at KL. Both the onward flight to KL and the flight to Labuan Bojo are from Terminal 2 i. e I will be at the same terminal. To save time, I am carrying a backpack less than 7 kgs with me as cabin baggage and avoiding collecting baggage from the terminal. So here are my questions:

1) Do I need to go through immigration to check in again considering it is the same terminal as I am not technically getting out of the terminal?

2) Assuming that I do have to get through immigration, do I have enough time to catch my onward flight?

Assuming here that both tickets will be different PNRs. If they are the same PNR, I shouldnt be having to do any of this. I will also be filling the MDAC beforehand just in case thats necessary.

Thank you for the help, in advance

Question Car seat for 18 month old?

My husband and I will be flying with our 18 month old next week. We bought an extra seat for her rather than keeping her in our laps. My question is if we need to bring a car seat onto the plane for her or if we can have her just sit in the regular seat. Flying with Southwest if that makes a difference.

Question Trying to plan a trip to Tokyo, worried about enough time on layovers for return flights.

These are just three possible flight paths that are feasible. My understanding (which could be wrong, first flight ever) is that I would have plenty time during each outgoing flight from GSO in Greensboro to my domestic layover then to Haneda airport, where I would then go through immigration in Japan. The big issue as far as I understand is that people say US has immigration on the return from an international flight. The only one that has enough time seems to be the delta flight at 4 hours. I figure that’s plenty of time if I can manage to navigate each airport and get to where I need to go (as I said no flight experience so I want to leave wiggle room for mistakes and time to research beforehand). The only other possibility is to drive 5 hours to Dulles airport and fly a nonstop flight to Japan but it’s almost a grand more expensive and I don’t want to risk driving 5 hours each way and having a car issue randomly pop up. GSO is only an hour from where I live and I know I could arrange travel easily. Does anyone have any info that would be applicable to either make a firm decision on flight path/airport/airline? Especially for someone who’s never been inside an airport or plane? I checked the sub wiki and it seemed to only recommend 45 minutes as a minimum but I maybe misread or misunderstood international-> domestic layover-> domestic. YouTube videos say to leave 3 hours or 3 1/2. Thanks if you can help!

Question Dom vs Intl rules for landing

Looking for flight attendant feedback. Are there differences in when we have to put our seat backs and tray tables up for domestic vs international? My whole flying career on domestic,10k ft is the magic number. Why is the FA telling me to put my table up when descending through 30k? Just because we started descending doesn’t change the rules does it?

Complaint Why is schipol so damn slow?

Been here twice the last two months, first flight delayed 1h40 due to ATC, second time 50min also due to ATC, third time baggage claim took 2 hours after the landing and right now sitting in the tarmac again because of ATC and cargo load delays. Baggage and cargo seems to be related to staffing, the ATC issues I have no idea.

Both the times a KLM flight seem to have been given priority lol, scheduled for later and departed/arrived earlier.

Question Powerbank (for flight - cebu pacific)

Hi everyone! Quick question for those who recently flew with Cebu Pacific.

I’m planning to bring a 20,000mAh power bank. From what I’ve read, the limit is 100Wh, and a 20,000mAh battery (at 3.7V) usually translates to around 74Wh.

Do security / Cebu Pacific staff actually check the mAh/Wh rating closely at the airport?

Does it need to be declared, or can I just keep it in my hand-carry/pocket?

Any strict rules on having faded or unreadable capacity labels?

Thanks in advance for any recent experiences!

Discussion Which airlines you flew with lately which left you surprised for good?

Personally, I feel it’s Air India and is under going massive transformation which is also visible. Domestically, most of their planes (90% of their fleet) is brand new or refurbished with modern cabins. Internationally, it’s still hit or miss depending on aircraft one is flying as there are still plenty of new aircraft’s rolling in and pending deliveries. Moreover most of their old wide body jets are under going refurbishing. I personally never had any problems with their food service, also their hard and soft products are improving as well. Even though they are bleeding more cash (which is self understandable) due to massive aircraft orders and geopolitical issues, I still believe in next 5-10 yrs then can give a hard time to middle eastern airlines if they keep improving.

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation What other remedies against Norse Atlantic to get refund and EU 261 compensation?

Hello,

I had the worst experience of my life with Norse Atlantic in August 2025 (!) and I've been fighting ever since. My flight CDG to JFK got delayed overnight, then canceled without any back-up solution offered. I'm entitled to a full refund + a €600 compensation under EU 261 (approx. €1,100).

Here's everything I've done so far:

- I filed a claim in February 2026 (technically before that... but it took me months to realize Norse had considered my previous claim to be invalid because of "Booking not found"): since then I followed up with their chatbot + by email to both the Norse Customer Care & Claim email addresses dozens of time. Sometimes I get an automatic reply that my claim is in the queue, but I've never got an answer from a real person.

- I filed a complaint in April at France's national enforcement body of EU 261 (DGAC), which was received. But no news since.

- I filed a complaint in September at the French centre of the European Consumer Centres Network (ECC Net), which is supported by the EC. One day later, I received an answer explaining that their Norwegian colleagues, who handle complaints against Norse, "have not received any responses from the airline for approximately a year". They added that "the situation has been reported to the relevant authorities," but that an amicable resolution is currently not possible. They therefore "recommend pursuing legal action (!) to enforce [my] rights".

- I solicited AirHelp in September, which takes 30% commission of the refunded amount. I also understand that they only seek refund of the ticket, and not the compensation under EU 261. Almost two months in and still nothing.

How is Norse even legally authorized to operate in Europe at this point? I've never seen that in my life. Anything I can do, besides going to court? I don't even know how going to court works for a commercial dispute of this nature with a foreign company.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm very tired.

Help Needed EasyJet can’t tell me where my suitcase is and it’s been 27 days

Hello! American here. I’m hoping someone has dealt with a similar situation involving easyJet or knows how international baggage tracing works, because I’m honestly at a loss.

On September 29, I flew easyJet from Naples (NAP) to Nice (NCE), then Nice to Paris Orly (ORY). My checked suitcase never arrived in Paris and I was told it was because easyJet baggage check-in desk in Naples put Nice as my final destination instead of Paris. I filed a missing baggage report at Paris Orly (through Dirby) as soon as I realized the bag hadn’t arrived.

I was leaving to head back to America the next day (September 30) and figured my bag was not going to arrive in Paris in time for that flight. As expected, it did not. I told the lost baggage people at Paris Orly that I would want the luggage sent back to Washington Dulles (IAD) which is the closest airport to where I live. It’s been 27 days and still no luggage.

Here’s the timeline of events so far:
October 1: Called Orly Airport (and cost myself $55 in international calling fees) to talk to lost baggage. I was told by someone that my bag was scheduled to go from Paris Orly to Barcelona that day (October 1) and that my luggage would then go from Barcelona to Washington Dulles (IAD) via United Airlines on October 3. I was told EasyJet doesn’t fly to the U.S. which is why United was transporting the bag.

October 6: I go to Washington Dulles airport to see if my bag is with United at there baggage counter. I keep my hopes up until to explain my situation to a woman at the counter who looks at me like I have two heads. She proceeds to explain that “they are not partners with EasyJet” so would not have my bag. She then allows me to look in an unclaimed luggage room but of course, my luggage is not in there.

October 7: I contacted easyJet again via chat. They confirmed that my suitcase had been scheduled to arrive at Dulles through a forwarding arrangement involving United Airlines. However, easyJet admitted it had no confirmation that the suitcase was actually loaded onto the flight or that it had arrived in Washington. I asked for the last confirmed physical scan, the forwarding flight number, proof that the suitcase had been loaded, and the forwarding reference number. They couldn’t provide any of that information and said they were still waiting for an update from the airline (as in United Airlines - who they don’t have a partnership with)

October 12: Spoke with easyJet again via chat.
I was told that their baggage file contained a note from Washington Dulles stating that my suitcase had not arrived on October 3. I was told”I am sending a chaser to all airports involved in the forwarding and requesting an update on where the bag currently is and to have it forwarded to where it needs to go to be returned to you”

October 14: I contacted easyJet again. An agent mentioned a “second forwarding file” and said my suitcase had been “double scanned.” They also referred to a third-party baggage tracing company, but I wasn’t given a clear explanation of what any of this meant or where my suitcase was physically located.

October 16: I spoke with another easyJet representative who said she would contact the airports in Nice, Paris Orly, and Barcelona to investigate. She also instructed me to email photos of my suitcase to their secondary baggage tracing team, which I did that same day.

October 22: I contacted easyJet again requesting an update, but I still had no confirmed location for my suitcase.

October 22–25: A friend who lives in Barcelona tried helping by contacting Barcelona Airport’s lost and found. They told her she needed to contact the airline directly. When she asked to be transferred to easyJet’s baggage desk, they said they couldn’t transfer her or provide that information.

Where things stand now:
Despite numerous conversations with easyJet, I have no confirmation of where my suitcase actually is, whether it ever arrived in Barcelona, or whether it was ever loaded onto the supposed United flight to Washington Dulles.

I just want my luggage back and yes, I messed up by not putting an AirTag inside. Lesson learned. Anyone who has advice on what to do, especially if you’ve had to deal with easyJet, pleaseeeee help me out because I’ve about had it.

****EDIT: I now understand that I needed to check my bag in again when I arrived in Nice in order for it to arrive at Paris Orly. I get that this is a thing and will make note of that for the future. Thank you for bringing that to my attention because I had no idea.

Question Turkish Airlines flight delayed then cancelled, will I be downgraded?

I arrived for my Turkish Airlines flight today, but it was at first delayed and then cancelled. I’m flying business class, and I’m expecting to be transferred to a different flight.

What are the chances that I will be downgraded from business? The travel was booked through work for a business trip so I haven’t used points or paid for anything personally.

Question China Eastern Business Class

Looking of flying to Sydney in December from London.

Been pricing up with Etihad, Singapore and Emirates but then stumbled across China Eastern business class as a very affordable option.

Has anyone here flown with them before?
What was it like?
Was it worth the money?

Also interested if you have flown very long haul economy with Etihad / Singapore etc.

For reference economy flights return with Etihad / Singapore etc are coming in at around the £1600/2000 GBP ballpark but China Eastern Business Class is around £3100 return.

Question No show flight

My mom has a roundtrip flight booked from Yyc to Hkg. She already took the outbound flight but wants to stay longer now. Her return flight is scheduled for Oct 27. She is ok with forfeiting the return flight as it’s a non refundable, no changes, no cancellation fare. Is it ok to just be a no show for the flight? Or do I have to cancel the flight for her? It was booked through Expedia and they confirmed that airline policy is she won’t get anything back for the fare type she has.

Help Needed Asiana Airlines double-charge

I really don’t know what to do and the horror stories are freaking me out.

I was charged twice for two plane tickets.

I bought two plane tickets, each 1006~, those two transactions went through perfectly no issues there.

Then I saw another transaction that says 2012~

I’ve been told this is a preliminary charge to make sure you have the funds needed for the actual tickets. But it’s about to be 3 days since I purchased the tickets and I’m freaking out since I’m out 4000 dollars.

Is this normal? I called the airline and they said I didn’t double book and to call my bank.

Please help, this is my first time flying :(

Question Air India Express IX 2765 (GOX–DEL) — recent punctuality experiences?

My original Goa–Delhi flight on 13 November was cancelled due to operational reasons, and I was rebooked on IX 2765 on 14 November, scheduled to arrive at Delhi T1 at 11:10 AM.
I’m trying to plan my onward journey to Old Delhi Railway Station. My train departs at 1:10 PM, and I cannot move it to 15 November because it’s my birthday.
For people who have flown this route recently:
How has IX 2765’s punctuality been?
How long did it take you to exit T1 after landing, including baggage collection?
Is there any historical on-time performance data for this flight?
I’m looking for recent experiences and factual information to plan accordingly. Thanks!

(This is a domestic flight from Goa (GOX) to Delhi (DEL), departing at 8:25 AM and scheduled to arrive at T1 at 11:10 AM on 14 November 2026. My train from Old Delhi Railway Station is a separate booking at 1:10 PM. I booked my flight through ixigo)

Help Needed Should I expect to pay for a name correction?

Hi, I have an ANA flight booked through Expedia. My ticket displays my name as my first and middle name together as one word, but my passport only shows my first and last name. ANA’s online check-in system is flagging my passport name and won’t let me proceed. Seems to be a booking discrepancy with Expedia, my flight is in 10 hours, and I can’t check in, once I get to the airport, should I expect to pay for a name correction?

Ive chatted with Expedia and they told me the carrier has all the power, but I’m in a different country right now and need to depart by a certain time. Kinda disappointed I didn’t see this mistake sooner.

(For reference, I’m in Vietnam flying to Japan through Nippon Airways ANA, out of Tan Son Airport to Haneda today)
