Reminder: Understanding Reddit's Rules and Posting Restrictions Is Your Responsibility

I want to clarify a few things about posting in r/GameDevPromotions, especially if you're new to Reddit or primarily use the platform to promote your games.

You are responsible for understanding how Reddit works before posting.

Reddit has sitewide rules, automated spam detection, account restrictions, and other systems designed to prevent abuse. These operate independently of the rules I establish for this subreddit. Your post being allowed under our community rules does not automatically mean Reddit will allow it through its own systems.

Reddit is also a collection of communities, not simply a place to advertise your work. Understanding how to participate appropriately, what constitutes spam, and how your account activity might affect your ability to post is part of being a Reddit user.

In the future, I won't manually investigate every complaint about posts removed by Reddit's automated systems.

I operate this subreddit voluntarily, and I don't have time to investigate individual account restrictions, posting histories, or the various reasons Reddit might flag someone's content. Resources are available to help you understand Reddit's policies and use the platform appropriately.

If Reddit is consistently removing your posts, take the initiative to understand why. Read the guidelines, understand how Reddit operates, and consider whether your posting behaviour might be contributing to the problem.

I want r/GameDevPromotions to remain a useful place for developers to share their work and discover what others are creating. Part of maintaining that environment is expecting everyone who participates to take some personal responsibility.

I am happy to provide a space for developers to promote their work. I am not here to troubleshoot how to use Reddit for every individual who encounters a restriction.

This is basic community housekeeping, and I think it's a reasonable expectation for anyone who chooses to participate.

Promote your work, yes, I’m telling you that it’s perfectly acceptable, unlike on r/gameDev.

Feel free to share whatever you want as long as it’s related to games. This space is meant to be a free-for-all—a bit like the wild west—where anything goes (within reason). The goal is to give folks a space to post freely and, hopefully, keep some of these posts from spilling over into r/gamedev.

My first Steam game crossed 2,000 wishlists during my first Next Fest 🥹

Post image

Honestly just really happy about this one.

I went into my first Steam Next Fest with around 1,600 wishlists, not really knowing what to expect.

Now the festival is ending and Worm Capitalist has crossed 2,000.

Steamworks shows 2,291 lifetime additions now, which still feels a little unreal considering this is my first Steam game and the page only went live a couple months ago.

The graph has been a bit chaotic. I had one pretty crazy spike from China before Next Fest, and then the festival gave the game another really nice push.

Still a long way to go, but seeing actual people discover the game, play the demo, stream it and add it to their wishlist has probably been the most motivating part of development so far.

Full release is November 30 :)

How did Next Fest go for everyone else? I'm really curious what kind of numbers people saw this week.

Astraya: a spoken hammer request, the full wait, then combat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm making Astraya, an unfinished desktop-browser sword-fighting game. You ask an AI companion for an ability, then equip and use the result yourself.

I kept this hammer example as one continuous 21.4-second sequence at normal speed: the spoken request (captioned), the full wait, the equip step and use in combat. The returned move still has to be equipped, so I wanted both stages to stay visible. I still need first-time player observations to know whether the native equip cue is clear.

At what point did you think the hammer was equipped?

This is older footage with the original camera movement and opponent effects. The square edit places captions above the full gameplay image, with space below for player controls. The clip is silent. AI is used for the ability forge, some art and voices.

World of Frontiers dev diary: from Wren to Phantom — a 2–3 hour estimate and the actual Credit costs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m building World of Frontiers at FloriM Studios. This follow-up to the starter progression diary explains one route to a heavier ship, including the costs behind it.

My current estimate is about 2–3 hours of active play: running missions, fighting aliens and moving from Wren through the Sturmjäger Mk. III to Phantom. This is a rough developer estimate, not a timed newcomer result or a verified no-purchase benchmark. Route choices, equipment, help from other players and paid boosts can change the time.

The hull milestones in this route are:

• Wren: your level-1 starter ship.

• Sturmjäger Mk. III: level 4 and 20,000 Credits.

• Phantom: level 10 and 125,000 Credits.

Buying those two hulls means 145,000 Credits in ship purchases altogether, before equipment and ammunition. Reaching level 10 and having enough Credits are separate requirements. The intermediate ship also gives you three laser slots instead of Wren’s two, but a new hull still needs equipment.

The practical loop is to follow mission objectives, claim the completed rewards, hunt aliens and salvage their containers, then reinvest in equipment while saving for the next hull. The Sturmjäger step is one route to test, not a proven fastest route.

The earlier diary measured basic starter upgrades costing 1,250 Credits; that pilot was still level 1. It did not establish the time to Phantom. Both hulls above are bought with earnable Credits, but purchases can accelerate progress: Premium includes +10% Credits/XP, and Nova can be earned or bought for equipment and ammunition.

Would an intermediate ship feel like a worthwhile upgrade to you, or would you rather save directly for the later hull?

The 24-second clip combines 10 seconds of normal-speed starter gameplay from the October 22 local test with a new route overview. It does not show a completed Wren-to-Phantom run. Music: our original “Glutstrom.” Development and some assets use AI assistance.

[Roblox] Steal a FruitROT: buy silly fruit characters, then steal them from other players' bases

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We're a small 2-person team and we just launched our first Roblox game.

You buy Fruitrots (fruit characters) as they roll by on a conveyor belt, they earn coins in your base every second, and you can sneak into other players' bases to steal their best one and run home before they catch you. You can lock your base to protect yours.

It launched with a Halloween event: spooky variants, a Haunted Hour, a 50-tier pass and a Black Market with exclusives. Works on PC, mobile and console.

We'd love honest feedback on the first 5 minutes and on mobile controls.

As many of us the dream to finally be very close to ship a video game result of life work is almost here I would love you take at Los Soles Rotos — The sun stopped. You didn't. is my own game that is an alpha not public ready but will be in the next weeks

I am super fan of diablo and POE saga but now I am old man with kids , and do not have the full day to work across the massive quest and complicated trees and combination , so I develop this one from scratch over years , and now I am very close to a release alpha version , I keep the adventure I keep the frenetic combat the nice places and view enemies , and skills but less complicated for people we do not have the mind and time to explore the millions of combinations but we want to enjoy the adventure and the fun! take a look

I will have news very soon.

Hey everyone! A little update on my game: I've just added a footprint system to make the world feel more immersive and believable!

For those who don't know, Over Human is a game where drones have taken over humanity and can manipulate the weather. You play as Steve, and you have no weapons to defend yourself, so you'll have to rely on stealth to survive and disable transmission terminals before it's too late.

I'm really happy with how it turned out! With the demo coming at the end of November, the game is finally coming together more and more!

If you're curious and want to learn more about Over Human, here's the Steam page!
