Just Returned to Church and...

I just recently came back to the Church after being gone for some decades. I know they tell me to 'wear what I have' (which is two pair of jeans and some non dress shirts) but I can't help but notice the looks I get from people. I'm depressed. Apparently the Bishop is also so busy that it's next to impossible to get an appt with him (I don't drive and depend on another member to give me rides to church on Sunday)

I went and looked at 'cheap' suits, and they all want upward of 300 dollars, and I just don't have that kind of money. (A brother took me around today to look at suit stores, but what they say online is not what they charge when you get there)

Anyhow... it's all so depressing.

discussion reddit sucks

I made a post that was almost completely unrelated from religion on the Girl Dinner Diaries sub (not linking it, you can search it if you want), just talking about setting boundaries with my bf so we don't make mistakes we will regret, and then some people saw I was part of the r/lds sub, and other people just put it together from the post (where I literally mentioned almost NOTHING to do with the church, just that we are religious) and there was some helpful advice on setting boundaries to avoid getting too frisky (if anyone has any advice on that, leave it in a comment btw) but then a lot of people started piling on to hate the church and calling it a c#lt.

If anyone knows anything about Girl Dinner Diaries, it is that they are a lot more positive and supportive than other subs. For the most part, girls come together and support each other and give advice. But the moment people put together that I was a member, people started railing on the church, and I wasn't expecting hate from this sub.

This sucks even worse because I did literally nothing to seek that kind of attention. I just asked how to set boundaries with my boyfriend because we are saving intimacy for marriage, which a lot of religions besides ours say you should be chaste until marriage (maybe not as many as I'm thinking, but it's definitely more than just us).

I guess the lesson I came away with is people are just going to hate. Even if I am moderate in sharing my religion, even if I am the "perfect mormon" in their standards, people are still going to hate the church and try to tear down our faith. We are a peculiar people, and I am just now starting to understand how lonely that feeling is.

But, we cannot serve God and Man. And if I have to choose, I will, without question, pick God every time.

question Setting Boundaries with Boyfriend to Avoid Mistakes

💥DISCLAIMER💥

I've made one of these before on Girl Dinner Diaries, but a lot of the comments I got were either hating on purity culture, bashing the church after they guessed I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and general rules to keep, but I need more specific advice on what to do in the moment. I also asked for advice in the other post I made about the bashing, but a lot of that was more general rules.

Long story short bc I don't want to type the backstory again:

My (18F) boyfriend (17M) "Daniel" and I have a lot of chemistry. We haven't ever made out or french kissed, but we have had open-mouthed kisses and it gets pretty intense (Sorry if this is TMI).

We decided two weeks ago that it's too intense for us, so we agreed to limit our kisses to simpler pecks just to express affection, but the last time we saw each other last weekend, we ended up kissing more out of desire than out of affection. So obviously, this is a big struggle for us because we are very attracted to each other.

So I come to you, the LDS subreddit, asking for advice. What should I do in the moment when I notice we are getting too intense? I really enjoy kissing him like this, but I want to keep us from getting in trouble.

I don't want to break the Law of Chastity and disrespect God, I want to be able to send him on a mission (and go on one myself), I really want a future with him too, and I want to do things the right way.

Thank you for any and all advice!!
