Just got this in the email today. Yeah I'm not graduating this year at all. All the wistful wishing was hopeless. Now I'm wondering how to tell my parents about this and how I wouldn't be graduating this year.

just for fun😂 international student going to APU Nov intake… how do people actually make friends before uni even starts? 😭🥀

I'm heading to APU for the November intake for my Master's in Soft Eng and I have zero idea how to socialize in the wild as a redditor goblin - i don't go outside normally ever 💀

Currently my only human interaction is my university counselor. I feel bad for my abang because I keep bothering him, but he is currently my one and only bestie, he's very nice! 😭

How do people actually make friends as international/postgrad students?
I visited Malaysia before and fell stupidly in love with roti tissue and thosai - I even tried making friends with the Mamak and restaurant staff… basically wanna know some Malaysians!

I know y'all joke on socials that Malaysia is still a jungle, but please let me join your jungle la! I'm like a Tarzan, can swing around there no worries! :)

If anyone is at APU (or just in KL) and is down to adopt a slightly awkward wannabe Thai programmer, feel free to DM - would love to know some geng so I'm not just wandering around finding dosas around campus alone 🥲

With love from BKK to KL! 🫶🏻

As my fav Malaysian puppet uncle, Harry Kok would say:
MALAYSIA NUMBER ONEEEEEEE!!! 🇲🇾

Do you feel guilty skipping class?

So today I really need to skip my afternoon class due to not having enough sleep last night cause I just can't fall asleep. This is my very first semester, and the subject I'm about to skip has no compulsory attendance and the lectures are posted online. But i still feel guilty, part of me is afraid i would go down a slippery slope of skipping class, but my main concern is that I would miss an important thing said during lecture. Any thoughts?

rant about student bias in arch uni.

okay i did read all the negative posts about this uni and still gave it a chance, bcs i heard the arch course being good regardless. its been 2-3 months in and I already see the blatant favoritism towards a certain group/race of students(ifykyk).

Idk if yall know how arch presentations go but basically u need to prepare all the necessary drawings and building model and talk about it. I understand where im lacking in my submission (missing context) but I at least have the base. And my prof still proceeded to cut me off, not even wanting to hear about my design process bcs its "so incomplete". Where as students who were missing drawings AND models had the chance to talk about what they "imagined" to do based on mock ups. They did not even check any of the submission requirements and they still treated them seriously. ??

I genuinely would appreciate some constructive criticism but this is just blatant dismissing and i always show up for classes and reviews. Its so disheartening as an archi student as well bcs i genuinely want to learn.

Mind you this prof has this rule of "no personal questions". Which means no 1 on 1 advice???? THIS IS ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL.

On a side note maybe some advice would be great for anyone whos been through this, bcs ive genuinely never met any profs that will treat u like this even when u show up and take the initiative during classes

Is APU worth it for Game Development in 2026? Looking for honest opinions

Hi everyone!

I'm currently a first-year Software Engineering student at UKM, but I've been thinking about transferring to APU to study Game Development.

To be honest, I'm finding Software Engineering quite difficult and sometimes a bit boring. I think I could push through and finish the degree if I really wanted to, but I'm not sure if it's the right path for me.

I'm also older than most of my classmates, and I tend to overthink my future a lot. Sometimes I feel like I'm running out of time to find something I'm genuinely good at and passionate about.

But I still really want to keep learning and improving myself. I don't want to give up on university.

I've always loved video games, especially storytelling, character development, world-building, and the creative side of game design. I also have some background in art, and one of my dreams is to create my own indie game someday. I'm also considering pursuing a master's degree in game design in the future.

I recently visited APU and found the Game Development programme quite interesting. However, I've also seen a lot of mixed reviews about APU on Reddit, which makes me a little hesitant.

I'd really appreciate some honest opinions, especially from current APU Game Development students or graduates.

  • How is the actual teaching quality?
  • Does the programme focus more on programming, game art, or game design?
  • How much group work is involved? Can students develop their own individual projects?
  • Are there many students who are genuinely passionate about creating games?
  • Is the game development community active and welcoming?
  • Would you recommend APU for someone interested in indie game development or postgraduate studies?

I've also heard that APU recently updated its Game Development curriculum, so I'd be interested to know whether the new programme is better.

I know changing universities won't magically solve all my problems, and I understand that studying game development can be difficult too.

I'm just wondering if studying something I genuinely enjoy, in a more creative environment, might help me find more motivation and direction in life.

I'd also appreciate opinions from anyone familiar with both UKM and APU.

Thanks for reading. I'd really appreciate any advice!

general question looking for gyms near taylors

before i start ik the uni has a gym but look im used to going to the gym when nobody else is there mainly cuz i can freely use the machines and weights and also im naturally introverted plus id usually go during the night around 9-10 pm which was when gyms would be empty. unfortunately taylors gym is kinda the opposite in where its dead only when it opens at around 7 am and the evenings is usually when its more crowded which is kinda a problem for me since i cant always wake up super early for gym especially if i have class in the next hour and because im very shy and introverted its hard for me to workout in a crowded environment. ik it might sound silly but if anybody can recommend me any nearby gyms (preferably safe ones and walking distance from taylors but i can manage if car is needed) that are dead especially at around that 9pm time please let me know

APU Allegations

Some people are saying APU fails you on purpose to get more money out of you. And APU Doesnt teach you modules that you are supposed to be taught in foundation 3rd sem. Has any APU student gone through some of these situations or something similar. If so please reply to this post. Id love to hear your story and get an opinion whether i should continue or not.

Anyone studying Biotechnology at Taylor’s University Malaysia? How is it, especially for the January intake?

Hey everyone! I’m an international student considering the Biotechnology programme at Taylor’s University Malaysia for the January intake, and I’d appreciate some honest advice

How is the programme overall in terms of teaching quality, practical lab work, lecturers, and course structure? I’m also curious about the student experience, class sizes, workload, and how easy it is to settle in and make friends as an international student and since I’m coming in Jan I know for a fact there will be waaay less students

How is the degree in terms of international recognition? Would I be able to pursue a Master’s in Biotechnology or related fields abroad, particularly in countries like Australia, the UK, or Europe? I’m also curious whether the three-year degree could affect my eligibility for postgraduate programmes.
I’m mainly considering Taylor’s because I missed the September intake at several universities I was interested in, and waiting another year would mean taking a second gap year, which I’d prefer to avoid.

I’d love to know how the course is overall, especially the quality of teaching, practical lab work, faculty, and student experience. Also, how is the January intake in terms of class sizes, making friends, and settling in?

If anyone has experience with this degree or has pursued postgraduate studies after graduating, I’d really appreciate your honest advice!
