A confusing question I have to ask about the genophage, and krogan reproduction.
Can you clarify something about the Krogan? Prior to the genophage, krogan could reproduce and mature at an astonishing rate. According to EDI, Females are known to produce clutches of up to 1,000 fertilized eggs over the course of a year. And, the survival rate of their offsprings (as in the percentage of Krogan who are conceived and then are able to be born) is 0.1%. So, does this mean that before the genophage the Krogan could have 1,000 babies a year without the genophage? Especially, since there's a difference between being able to produce clutches of up to 1,000 fertilized eggs over the course of a year, and being able to have 1,000 babies born a year.
Especially since, a human woman produces approximately 300 to 400 fertilized eggs (ovulated eggs) in her lifetime, which averages to about one per month during her reproductive years, over her reproductive years, a woman will use approximately 300,000–400,000 eggs, though only 300–400 are actually ovulated, during in vitro fertilization (IVF), usually only 70% of mature eggs fertilize, and of those fertilized eggs, only 50% continue to develop into embryos. However, they cannot have one baby born every month, nor 300-400 fertilized eggs over the span of their lifetime.
Especially since the human women who gave their most births was Valentina Vassilyeva who only birthed 69 babies. So, it's impossible for anyone to have all of their fertilized eggs become babies. Even if it's just 300-400 over their lifespan and not 1,000 per year. So, since it's impossible for humans to have one baby born a month and 300-400 born over their lifespan, does this mean that it's impossible for a Krogan female to have 1,000 babies born a year (from conception to birth)?
