So for the longest time i have been having this weird feeling my best friend has been avoiding me but i couldn’t put a finger on why.

For context i went to high school with her and after like 2yrs she got together with this dude safe to say she got married. We reconnected shortly after 2yrs after high school hence how i found out she is with the guy.

Over time we have cultivated this friendship to a point i would call her my best friend at this point i am not even sure if i am even a close friend to her anymore.

Our communication has been pretty consistent every two weeks we would always check in. (From the beginning of this year)

Late last year we went on vacation her, her man and her brother and sister in law for a week and during that trip that’s when i found out that their relationship was husband and wife. We had gone to visit her sisters in law parents since they live in mombasa and that is where we had gone for vacation.

So this year around July it was my birthday we actually planned the whole thing together i even counter checked with her my guest list and everything she and her man came but she wasn’t drinking. I asked why she said she’s taking medication for gastric issues i was cool with that. Since then I’ve been asking her to hang out she always has an excuse.

Her birthday rolls around early October i ask her whats the plan she says she’s broke and she had lost her phone so she didn’t feel like celebrating i told her we can just go have lunch she says no i stop bugging her about it. At this point ik something is up she is hiding something.

Her birthday rolls around and she calls me the day off to tell me her man bought her the 17 pro i congratulate her wishing her a happy birthday she says now she has a good phone we can go out soon im like cool whenever you’re ready let me know. I even jokingly ask her are you pagged and you’re not telling me she denies i let it go.

Fast forward today she calls me and says she has good and bad news. The bad news is she was pregnant and the good news is she had the baby two weeks ago. My flabbers are gasted because WTF. I get you wanted it to be private but you’re telling me 2wks later??

Do you consider me a witch or what. Have i misread our entire friendship this whole time? If she told me a day or two after i would have let it slide…but two weeks later??? So basically i am not as close as i thought i was.

Her excuse is that her and mans promised not to tell anyone about it.

Am i over reacting or i am just an acquaintance in all this?

For instance, over the weekend, i used a public restroom in some apartment in kileleshwa. I was appalled. Once you push the door open, the toilet bowl is like a kilometer away from the door. You think to yourself, "no worries" right? Once you are inside, you notice the door is not fitted with a lock. So what happens when those guys who kick toilet doors open decide to interact with you.

You wouldn't be fast enough to keep them out, the trouser or innerwear at your feet would also make sure you are probably down on your stomach the moment you try any superhero stuff.

Long story short, i had to briefly engage the services of some mzungu kid to stand outside the door as i hurriedly conducted my business.

I am also of the opinion that washroom doors should open to the inside. It is in your best interests that a toilet door opens where you can intercept any interruptions. For toilet blocks, why should someone install mini skirt doors? people can literally see my un-oiled knees. This design is worse if the toilets are asian bowl toilets.(the ones where you squat) Asian bowl toilets are also recommended for public spaces(they are the most hygienic second to pit latrines) Speaking of pit latrines, last month i attended a ruracio in some village in muranga. After a very heavy serving, i was forced to use a pit latrine which was so deep, that for a moment i thought my shit had gone up instead of down the dark hole. I was super relieved after a heard the faint thud.
