How hard is the Colamy Atlas?

My Huanuo 6D Ergo chair is dying. Or, rather, has died. The cushion was great for the first few months, and now it's completely flat to the point that I can't wait for holiday sales to replace it. On the plus side, it was $99 on sale with coupons. On the downside, it lasted five months and is now literally a pain in the butt. The number of adjustments is pretty awesome for a chair at that price point. 6D armrests would be incredible if they didn't wobble like a drunk dude doing a one-leg stand.

I tried the Sharper Image S-600 in Staples yesterday and loved the comfort, but hated other parts of it like the subpar recline and fixed armrests. I'm going to go back and give the other Sharper Image chairs a second look today, even though I'm fairly sure all of them have terrible build quality based on the fake or bonded leather, the cheap plastic build, and the copious electronics that feel like a gimmick to cover for that build quality. I'm also going to spend some time sitting in the Hyken Pro (yeah, I'm desperate) and the Beautyrest Duo-EX.

Everything about the Atlas either appeals to me or can be adjusted (like memory foam padding on the lumbar) except the seat. I don't mind a medium seat that I more float on than sinking into, but I don't want to sit on something resembling a park bench, a rock or a seat on a Frontier A320. How much would I love/hate the Atlas?

And if there are other options, I can afford up to about $500. I'm not a huge fan of used, I do need a good, tilt-locked recline, and I am 99% either needing a headrest or a back tall enough to double as one. I'm in this chair 8-12 hours a day, five days a week, and a few more hours a day on weekends. I'd stretch for a Librenovo Omni SE, but I can't stretch to $800 and I can't wait to see if black Friday brings that down closer to $600-650. I'm 5'8" 180 lbs., and I tend to float between 175-185 depending on how stressful work is that week. I would not consider the ProtoArc chairs because of how many compensated/spam reviews they have coming from users here.

Hey folks, I have chosen these three white-labeled chairs as I could not find what I wanted from popular, trusted brands, so can anyone kindly tell me if they have used any of these and how the experience was? The features that i need are 4D LUMBAR SUPPORT, 4D HEADREST, and SYNCHRO RECLINE

Recommendations for a chair for around £300 in the UK

My Flexispot BS11-PRO just broke (the mesh seat failed) and I'm getting a full refund for it, so I am looking for recommendations for a new chair to buy for around that price point (£300).

I found my BS11-PRO to be really comfortable so I would be happy with a similar chair. I don't mind going for another Flexispot, although my current one broke, as they have honoured the warranty for it.

I'm 6ft 2in (188cm) and around 100kg. I'd prefer buying new, with warranty, than risking something second hand.

I'm not wedded to a mesh seat, and am a bit wary of them now as that was the failure point of my current chair, but am happy to be persuaded either way.

A caution about those sensitive to chair noises and steelcase leap

Firstly - if you are not sensitive to chair noises, skip this post.

A few months ago I purchased my Steelcase Leap v2 and have found it to be a very comfortable chair, however the recline had a significant "clank" and sticky-ness to the movement. After dealing with support to get the chair replaced, the replacement was buttery smooth and quiet in the recline - indicating that the original chair was indeed defective. However with the replacement chair the lower back lumbar tension knob makes a loud audible groan at low to medium tension - every time I move my lower back in some way

However this time steelcase have told me "The reported sound was observed only under specific loading conditions. As with other adjustable chair components, minor sounds may occur when loads are applied to specific areas of the chair structure. Based on their review, no condition affecting the chair's functionality, performance, safety, or durability has been identified."

Basically, they do not cover sound or noise under their warranty, the only reason the chair was replaced the first time was due to the very sticky recline which was "not intended".

So I know many people are not sensitive to, or care about chair noises, and when people complain online about a clank, groan or squeak from their $2,000 ergo chair, some people scratch their head and go "thats just how they are, get used to it and move on.", however as someone with OCD I do find it very difficult, especially when the noise is highly distracting and loud enough to be heard from across the room.

Whilst I understand nothing is without defect, I do know some things can be fixed, and other things replaced which will fix those defects - there has been multiple back and forths with steelcase but they are unwilling to replace the component (the lower back firmness knob) or even acknowledge that it can be replaced - even though its only attached via two simple screws and there's a lot of resources online showing that the knob can in fact be replaced ( i even shared those resources with them and they still claim it is not something that can be replaced ).

So I am at a bit of a cross-roads. I find it very frustrating that they are unwilling to give me a replacement part - even if I were to pay for it, they say replacing the part will void the warranty and so thus they will not give me the option. So my only choice left is to get a second hand replacement part from ebay to fix my $2000 chair...

Cheap ergonomic chair for tall people?

Is there any tall bros that didnt drop a month paycheck for a chair? This all looks like a mafia industry. The chairs look very overpriced.

Im in Europe and my budget is 150 euros max so most recommendations are useless to me (who tf uses facebook marketplace here I didnt even know it existed), cant afford more, at this price range the most comfortable chairs are literally wooden chairs with a short back that I can use to constantly /massage/pressure my back lol.

Found this is on FB marketplace for $175. The dude said he couldn't find a brand or model number anywhere, but he bought it from a commercial furniture supplier. Is it worth it? Mainly using it for studying + playing guitar

Ergonomic chair in budget

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a new chair (currently I have basic table chair which drives me nuts and hurts my back). I don't know anything about market of ergonomic chairs. I'm 180cm tall and weight 67kg. I'm sitting really often because of university and studying (let's say 4 hours at once), but also I play games which gives around 5 hours let's say. Budget really low I guess because it's $150 and I want to buy on polish market. Im looking for a new chair.

In my research I found companies like Mark Alder but it's hard to find actual opinions about their products (like expert 4.6). Tried IKEA but only Markus was good and it's out of budget.

Would be really thankful for help.

The Fractal Refine 2 is a Major Upgrade to Refine 1 Gaming Chair

Edit: I’m 6’ and 160 lbs

I've been spending a bunch of time in the Fractal Refine 2 comparing it to the original, and it's a major upgrade. If you’re looking for a gaming style chair this is the best yet.

Key differences I’ve found

Seat: The Refine 1 sat like a rock. The Refine 2 has a lot more cushioning, and the seat comfort is a big upgrade

Lumbar: The new dual pad is much more flexible. The original single-piece lumbar was really aggressive, so this is a big change for people who don't want as much pronounced lumbar support.

Arms: Depth adjustment now uses a button, so the arm pads don't slide around unless you want them to. If you hate pads that move easily this is a nice change.

Upholstery: Along with mesh and fabric, there's a new hybrid with a fabric seat and mesh back.

Headrest: It goes about an inch lower, so shorter users can get it on the neck instead of the back of the head.

Seat depth: About a half inch deeper. Taller users may get a gap behind the pad, similar to what people complain about on Haworth chairs.

Casters: They roll a lot easier than the previous iteration. Probably the most solid caster I’ve felt. They are HEAVY.

At $599, I don't think there's another gaming chair that comes close. If you’ve tried both let me know what you think.

Ergonomic chair for tall guy 193cm / EU - 300€

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to find an ergonomic chair with 300€ budget.

I am 193cm and 82kg, so height is really a problem.

The only 2 options I found in EU are Colamy Atlas and Protoarc EC200.

From what I read, I should go for the Atlas but I am still not convinced.

For the ones that have it: can you remove the lombar support? I'm not fan of it. In fact I tried a Felxispot C7 and I've immediately returned it.

For the other tall guys around here: any suggestions? How is it possible that it is so difficult for us to find a decent chair without spending 1k.

Thanks!

I want to buy an ergonomic chair around 10-12K? Which one is the best under this budget

I will sit on the chair mostly for around 8-10 hours daily with breaks in between. I want a comfortable chair and to maintain the posture. I am thinking of a green soul orion or jupiter pro. But currently saw so many reviews like instead of this bug featherlite chair. What should I do. I just want the best value for money chair, irrespective of brand, but want decent customer support such that if some issues comes in the chair, there will be a scope for the repair or replacement.

$275 Embody - best purchase of my life

Post image
225 Upvotes

A lot people say that you are disappointed when you finally buy the thing you’ve been wanting for a long time. Not me. I’ve wanted an HM Embody for over a year and came across this one on FB marketplace for $350, offered and he accepted $275.

A few days later I can confidently say it’s one of the best purchases of my life. My previous gaming chair was not cutting it, I used to have to stick my pillow on the back to have any sort of real support. Now I feel like traded in a Kia Soul for a Ferrari.

As a law student who will likely spend a few thousand hours in this chair over the next few years. No complaints thus far.

Ergonomic Chair for short people. Suffering from backache.

I've been struggling to find an ergonomic chair. I've checked online and I couldn't find any chair designed for people who're 5′4″ or under.

I've got backache already from the chair I currently use. It was bought from a local shop during lockdown.

Please drop your recommendations.

Beefy Boi Chair Recommendations

I'm a larger dude. I'm not tall, but I'm kinda beefy. 5'10" around 225 lbs. For the life of me, the only chair I've been able to find that is "comfortable" has been a Secretlab Titan. Unfortunately, I think the "race car seat" gamer chairs aren't doing it for me, anymore. I'm getting a lot of back aches I didn't used to get when I was younger.

Do y'all have any good recommendations for a guy my size? I have tried a Steelcase Gesture and I *hated* that chair. I get that it's "ergonomic", but I felt like I was being pushed out of it the whole time. There wasn't a seat dept that I could get to where I didn't feel like it was scooting me so far forward to the point I was sliding out of the chair.

Similar chair to leap V2

I recently picked up a steelcase leap v2 and while I like the chair overall ive noticed that the middle of my back doesnt really contact the backrest unless i totally bottom out the lumbar. My upper back and shoulders touch on either side and my low back feels good but i dont feel like I can really settle back into it without wanting to slouch a bit. Does anyone have experience with other chairs that have a less curved back. The amia seems similar to other chairs Ive sat in that felt good and flush but I know its not as adjustable.

Suggestions on Newtral Chairs or anything else

Hi everyone,

I spend a huge chunk of my day sitting at my desk for studying and working. I do have a standing desk that I raise occasionally, but my budget gaming chair just broke (one of the base legs snapped) so I desperately need a proper replacement.

A bit about my situation:

  • Location: Italy / EU (so looking for things available on official European stores, or AliExpress).
  • Build & Weight: Around 94 kg (207 lbs) and 181 cm (5'11"). I need something with a sturdy frame and metal base so I don't end up snapping another leg.
  • Posture habits: I have a bad habit of leaning over to the right when using the mouse, which put uneven weight on my old chair. I also tend to hunch forward, leaving a giant gap between my lower back and the backrest.
  • Preferences:
    • Solid 3D or 4D armrests that I can level with my desk to help keep my shoulders straight.
    • Mesh back is a must for hot Italian summers, but I'm open to either a full-mesh seat or a high-density foam seat.
  • Budget: Looking to stay around €150–€300.

Chairs I've looked at so far:

  • Newtral MagicH003 / MagicH-BP: The adaptive lower back support looks like it could help with my hunching, but I'm a bit skeptical about the long-term build quality and how stiff that lumbar spring actually feels. Which I'll buy from Aliexpress
  • Sihoo B100 Pro / Doro C300 / M57: Full mesh sounds great for breathability, but I wonder if the lumbar support is pronounced enough to stop me from leaning forward.

Has anyone around my weight used these? Or are there any other decent options in the EU market within this price range that I should check out instead?

Thanks!

Recommendations for a €400 chair and real owner reviews of the Sihoo C300Pro V2

Hi everyone, I need an ergonomic office chair with lumbar support and a headrest because I suffer from back and neck pain. I'm on the computer for several hours a day for work. My budget is around €400. I know it would be better to get a higher-end used chair like a Herman Miller, but where I live in Italy, the used market is limited and I live in a small town at least 200 km away from larger cities. What new chairs do you recommend? I was looking at the Sihoo c300pro v2, which I could get for less than €400 on the official website during Black Friday, but it has conflicting reviews (I'm aware that many of the YouTube reviews were paid for by Sihoo). However, I wanted to know from those who own one if it's still a good buy for this price range. Or if you can recommend any other models, thanks 😁

best inexpensive office chair for working from home?

ive been looking for an inexpensive office chair for my first proper desk setup. im 5'10" and around 165 lbs, and honestly there are way too many options once you start looking. I dont really want to spend $500+ on a chair right now, but I also dont want another $100 chair that starts falling apart after a year lol.

right now im probably leaning toward finding a used Haworth Zody unless someone talks me out of it. The adjustability seems really useful for me, but if anyone here has bought one used, what should I actually check before handing over the cash?

my budget is around $200-300, and it'll mostly be for working/studying and gaming for a few hours at a time. Main things im looking for:

  • comfortable seat for longer sessions
  • decent lumbar support
  • adjustable height and preferably armrests
  • breathable back would be nice
  • smthing that doesnt feel super flimsy
  • ideally smthing that'll last a few years
  • dont really care about having a headrest

a few options ive been looking at:

IKEA Markus, this one seems to come up constantly when people talk about affordable office chairs. People seem to like the comfort, breathable mesh back and overall value. My concern is the fixed armrests and limited adjustability, especially since im not sure it'll fit me properly.

Herman Miller Sayl,  apparently one of the cheaper Herman Miller options, and ive seen people say it's surprisingly comfortable and supportive for long sessions. The problem is that even used ones can still be pretty expensive compared to what im trying to spend.

Staples Hyken,  seems like a more traditional budget option, with people liking the adjustability, mesh design and comfort for the price. The downside ive seen is some concern about build quality and squeaking over time, so im not sure how well it'd hold up.

Haworth Zody,  this is the one im most interested in right now, especially because of the adjustable lumbar support and the way you can independently adjust the back tension. ive seen some pretty good used prices too. On the other hand, there are complaints about the armrests, creaking and some parts of the build quality.

so yeah, im leaning toward a used Zody unless someone talks me out of it. If you've bought one used, what should I check before handing over cash? And for around $200-300, would you guys still look for a used higher-end chair like the Zody, or just buy something newer in the budget range?

In what way is Herman Miller Aeron a good chair? Any alternatives?

My brother had a Herman Miller Aerson Size B and he didn't like it so he passed it onto me. I've been eyeing it for years given that I read about it on every reddit thread when it comes to buying chairs. I gave it so many chances but I swear my $20 Ikea chair is more comfortable than this chair and I don't say this to be mean. I'm just being honest. I tried every adjustment and watched tutorials on how to set it up and it still felt terrible. We eventually decided to give it to my mom who has a desk job to see if it's comfortable for her and she said her random work chair is more comfortable after trying it for a week. My brother didn't care for it anymore so I gave it to a friend and he called me the next day saying it's worse than his three other random chairs.

I'm so shocked that I'm starting to think is there a chance that the company just heavily runs marketing compaigns on reddit or something? I mean that's great marketing so I dont see why not. Is it a coincidence that all four of us had this opinion?

Anyways. I'm willing to listen to more options and hopefully find something comfortable. I'm having neck pain specifically near my traps and I feel like it's from slouching. When I create a double-chin I feel the pain easing a bit. I'm looking at Steelcase Gesture with headrest.

SIHOO Doro C300 Pro V2 — issues after just 3 days of use. Should I return it or contact support?

I bought the SIHOO Doro C300 Pro V2, and it arrived about a week ago. Assembly was easy and straightforward, but getting the chair properly adjusted for my height (175 cm / 5'9") turned out to be surprisingly difficult because of the headrest, which sits way too low. I've seen this issue discussed quite often on Reddit, so apparently I'm not the only one.

After switching from my IKEA Markus, I had neck pain for about half a week. I'll make a separate post comparing the two chairs, but for now, I'm still not entirely comfortable in the C300 Pro V2, although I'm gradually getting used to it.

Unfortunately, I've also run into a couple of issues:

Grease on the gas lift piston: There are rings of grease on the piston that reappear after I wipe it clean.

Right armrest getting stuck: Since around the middle of the week, the right armrest has started getting stuck in its highest position. And this is after literally just three days of use!

I've seen people mention in other Reddit threads that SIHOO replaced their armrests, but some reported that the replacement parts were noticeably worse than the originals. That makes me hesitant to go down the replacement route without knowing what to expect.

Now I'm not sure what to do. Should I return the chair while I still can, despite being really disappointed that a brand-new chair has these issues? Or should I contact SIHOO support and ask them to fix the problems or send replacement parts?

I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts, especially if you've experienced similar issues with the armrests or grease on the gas lift piston.

If you've dealt with SIHOO customer support or had to replace parts on your C300 Pro V2, how did it go? Would you keep the chair or return it?

Thanks in advance!

Tall with lower back pain, recs please

Hey all,

Herniated a disc while deadlifting and had surgery five years back. I’m 6’1 185lbs, have wide shoulders, WFH, and I game. I weight train often, and I’m in physical therapy, but sitting a couple of hours on my Leap V2 causes lower back stiffness and pain. I feel like the Leap doesn’t support my lumbar enough so that I put an extra pillow there, and the seat pan might not be big enough.

I’ve had the Secret Lab Titan before and it was too stiff. Looking for recommendations for lumbar support, comfort on the seat, and overall a good office chair.

Don’t really care about price if it’s a chair I won’t have to replace for a while.

Any recommendations? Thanks!
