Does anyone know what they are observing for? And why here in particular? If you are someone who personally believes we need stronger voter id reqs, why is targeted hyper focus on these sites needed? It's not very historically precedented in this country

Mrs. Grace Belcher grave in Colonial Park

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello- I couldn't quite figure out which sub to put this in. I was in Savannah in April and came across the grave for Mrs. Grace Belcher. There were so many tributes on her grave. I found a little of her information, but didn't find anything why her grave had the most tributes. I went on two tours- history and ghost- and neither guides could tell me why. Is there anyone with local lore on why people leave so much for Grace and little James?

If you want some Cali Style Street Tacos !

Check out Tacos El Charro in Richmond Hill at the Mobil Gas Station. Best tacos I’ve had since living in GA. I was talking to the owner and he moved his restaurant from Los Angeles to Richmond Hill after COVID (makes sense). I don’t work there so I’m not being paid to promote them I just want people to experience tacos like I grew up having them ! They don’t have a giant menu but everything is so good, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re lucky you’ll catch them with a fresh batch of home made Horchata.

Local company gives bad reviews while being shitty on their end.

So i usually wont post about small local companies but this local power washing company called Washing And Cleaning Group decided to act out in a way where it could have caused potential harm. They were doing a job over at the outdoor shopping area on e ogelthorpe and price and decided to shut down the parking lot during working hours even though they were not repainting the parking lot. The job was to power wash and re paint the sidewalks outside of the businesses. At first we thought it was a misunderstanding and they were confronted and told some of the businesses were still open for 3 more hours. They decided to block off both entrances to the parking lot for whatever reason using chairs from a local resturant without asking. This turned into multiple people almost driving directly into the chairs since they were black and it was dark out. None of this would have been that big of an issue if they had just took into consideration that they were starting too early and needed to wait until the other businesses were ready to close. But they decided to take it a step further and go on some of the businesses Google reviews to give them a bad review because they were asked politely to not block off the parkinglot. Again they were not doing any work to the parking lot only the walkway outside the businesses. Some of this guys may have been drinking and think this is the reason to why they were acting out in this way but it was incredibly unprofessional. Also one of the businesses they gave a bad review to was the business that helped get them the bid for the job. Not the brightest individuals. If anyone is interested in more of the details to this incident some of their Google reviews goes into further detail. They left 3 separate bad reviews on Ta ca Asian fusion and were immediately called out for it.

City moves to revoke ‘mistakenly issued’ inn approvals for Thomas Square apartment development

By Eric Curl/Savannah Agenda

Oct. 24, 2026 – The city of Savannah is preparing to revoke a local developer’s business approvals for three “inns” in the Thomas Square neighborhood, after residents decried the new development, a recently completed building complex that was originally proposed to be residential apartments.

Residents said The Jardin was effectively operating as a hotel serving visitors rather than as the apartments originally proposed for the two buildings at Montgomery and 43rd streets.

The controversy comes less than a year after the neighborhood successfully petitioned in December 2025 to become part of an overlay district that prohibits hotels — lodging establishments with more than 15 rooms.

Anyone play the Disney Lorcana TCG around here?

I’ve been going to local game stores like Savannah Lion Games and Roll the Bones. We have some local players who play there regularly, but I’m looking to expand our community so figured I’d post here!

It’s a fun game, very easy to learn but takes a lot to master, and you don’t have to be a huge Disney fan to enjoy it 😄

Feel free to message me if you’d be interested in playing!

How are the schools here??

We just moved to Savannah and I'm curious to see what real people say about the schools here - from the teachers to the kids? Any recommendations for specific schools?

In the past we've homeschooled but my kids want to try these schools out and I'm a bit hesitant.

Thanks in advance!

Soup season is here…post your recs!

We all know places like Black Rabbit that have a great soup constantly on rotation, but looking for those places that you might not expect. Jalepenos has a simple, yet underrated, chicken and rice soup that they serve with pico and avocado 👌🏻

Josephine

I know it’s incredibly nuts to even post this, but just scouring the corners of the earth for one Josephine ticket. I somehow randomly got the day off tomorrow just finding out today and can actually make this showing I was hoping for. I’m sure this is just a pipe dream but putting good energy out there. If not I will certainly try the standby line. Thank you all.

Leaning, dynamic, hunched, and arched; "Can I borrow white paint?"Squiggles, floppy chisels, light and leaves. "Let me try your Brush"  Crooked single point; clearly vanishing, cutting light, red, green, violet bushes, walls, tunnels, marks, dark, dark shapes, values, abstraction. Shit, I can't see. The lights flipped? Hold on, Chase, Arrive? East 46th Lane, 10am-12

Pet care co-op?

Is there any foundation in town that we know of that provides medical care for pets at a deeply discounted rate? Something subsidized by charitable pet lovers? Vet care is crazy expensive. I've done right by my dog for 13 years, but she may need an x ray for a sinus obstruction and I don't have that kind of money at the moment. Thanks!

American idol in Savannah?

So it appears this show is in Savannah again. (Why is it still on tv?) I saw someone took a photo of Ryan Secrest in Forsyth and there has been busy bees at the Kehoe Iron works building setting up. Maybe any news has been eclipsed because of the film fest. Or maybe they are trying to keep it quiet or maybe no one cares. Anyways if anyone does find it interesting…there you go.

Rental Warning for Anyone Looking for Housing in Savannah, GA

Location: 1217 Java Pl, Savannah, GA

This landlord displays an extremely arrogant attitude and shows no respect for her tenants. She acts as though tenants should have to beg her to do things that are part of a landlord’s basic responsibilities. If English is not your first language, she will occasionally use that against you to humiliate you. No matter how I respond to her emails, she always finds a way to accuse me of being disrespectful.

I lost my keys two days ago by accident, and she told me in person: “I’m doing you a favor. I don’t care if you have nowhere to sleep or stay.” She then insisted that I complete everything she requested that was irrelevant before she would even consider helping me regain access to my home.

  1. Repeated Demands for Lawn Trimming

The lease does not explicitly specify how short the lawn must be cut or establish any particular standards for its appearance. However, the landlord has repeatedly demanded that I trim the lawn further, citing city regulations as justification.

I have consistently maintained the lawn as part of my regular upkeep. Even after the lawn had been cut to this extent, the landlord continued to insist that I trim it further, without clearly specifying the required standards in the lease.

  1. Demands for Proof of Trash Removal and Disputed Fees

The landlord charged me a $35 fee for an alleged violation of a house rule concerning trash disposal. I disputed this charge because I questioned whether it was adequately supported by the lease and whether the circumstances at the time justified the fee.
I had already provided photos at her request showing that the trash had been moved to the curb. Nevertheless, she continued to demand additional photos. At approximately 8:45 a.m., she emailed me requesting further photographic evidence. About an hour later, she came to the property. I was asleep at the time and had received no prior phone call or voicemail. She subsequently visited the property and imposed the additional fee.

When I have refused to pay fees that I believe are unjustified or contractually disputed, she has sometimes become increasingly impatient and has resorted to humiliating, harassing, or even verbally insulting tenants.

  1. The Landlord’s Repeated Presence Outdoors Observing Tenants

Another issue that has made me uncomfortable is the landlord’s repeated presence outdoors, where she appears to observe tenants’ activities. This has left me feeling as though my everyday life is being monitored and has raised concerns about my privacy and personal space while living at the property.

I understand that landlords have the right to manage and maintain their rental properties within reasonable limits. However, I believe there is a clear distinction between ordinary property management and conduct that repeatedly makes tenants feel as though they are being watched.

  1. Repeated Emails with Warning-Like Language and Attached Photos

Throughout my tenancy, I have also periodically received emails from the landlord containing reminders accompanied by photographs or other images. These emails frequently concern property maintenance, house rules, or tasks that tenants are expected to complete. What troubles me is that the tone and frequency of these messages sometimes make me feel threatened or pressured rather than simply informed about routine maintenance matters.

I believe a landlord can communicate professionally by clearly identifying the issue that needs to be addressed, the applicable lease provision, the deadline for compliance, and the basis for the request. However, when the method of communication repeatedly leaves tenants feeling intimidated or humiliated, it creates unnecessary tension and makes what should be a normal landlord-tenant relationship increasingly stressful.

Best Hole in the Wall Donut Shop

So I’m from LA and every 1/4 mile you can find some random hole in the wall donut shops that are delicious and hidden gems. Any place like that in Savannah ? My Google searches just show me these fancy pastry places all over town but that’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I’m looking for the basics and classics. Glaze, chocolate frosted, Bear claws etc.. I’m not a huge fan of sweets but I love me some donuts so the fancy stuff with all the decorations and frosting piled ontop of sprinkles don’t do it for me. I want the best glazed donut in town.

Custom Gluten Free Bakery Orders

Hello! I'm a preschool teacher looking for a bakery that can do nut-free and gluten-free orders for our Halloween party! I've searched Google extensively but cannot find much beyond heavily advertised (mostly chain) bakeries that don't offer gluten-free options, or gluten-free bakeries that ship nationwide from a different state...

Any help would be appreciated! I'm looking particularly for cakes/cake pops, but at this point, anything would do!
