Passport submission & Signature language (Form ARD)

• Upvotes

I'm preparing to submit Form ARD under Section 4L, and I have two quick questions regarding the documents and signing:

  1. Passport Submission / Photocopy: Do I need to send my original physical passport with the application, or is a full photocopy sufficient?
  2. Signature Language: When signing the form, can I use my Arabic signature, or does the UK Home Office require an English-letter signature?

Thanks in advance.

UISUK Process

• Upvotes

Hello r/ukvisa

I’m a 19 guy from New Zealand who was meaninglessly enquiring about travelling to the UK for a year with the UK Summer Camp program and had emailed the UISUK as for information in which I received. They have been calling me once every week for the last month trying to get me to pay for some fee after every time notifying them i was only trying to ask about the program. Following their “New found information” as i remind them they close out by saying “Nevermind have a good day” and hangup since i’m not paying for their services which i told them the first two times.

This place is driving me insane with the pushing to pay for information

ILR application - bit of an unusual query

• Upvotes

Hiya, so we’re in the process of applying for my wife’s ILR after five years back, and I’m a bit stumped by the “does your partner have any children living in the uk - provide details” question.

That may sound strange, so a bit of background for context - I’m only bothered about the issue as it pertains to my wife’s Ike, but without background it sounds insane!

Basically, last year a woman, a Russian national, I had relationship with about 15 years ago while living overseas and haven’t had any contact with for years appears to have moved to the uk and made a child maintenance claim against me for a 14-year-old child I previously was unaware of (I was aware she’d had a child, but she had told me it wasn’t mine, and that tallied with the timing and the fact she always seemed pretty busy in that department, although the date of birth cms have given me now is about five months earlier than she claimed at the time, which is feasible, but that’s not the issue here. CMS are convinced he’s mine so I pay what they tell me to every month for the next couple of years as it would be more expensive to drag it through the courts, and feasibly could still end up with me being the father, but 20-30k in solicitor’s fees poorer).

Now clearly given that he’s now registered with CMS the answer to the first question becomes yes, but as for the details it asks for I have no idea. I don’t know where they live, all CMS have given me is a first name, dob and confirmation that they have seen a Russian birth certificate that names me.

I’ve made no attempt to contact her since the original CMS contact as when I tried an old email I had for her to find out what was going on, the next thing I received was a court summons from 200 miles away for harassment (this was thrown out of court as I’ve had no contact with her for years save that one email. I’m not even sure how it got there in the first place as her statement consisted almost entirely of fictional events from several years and several thousand miles away, but anyway, irrelevant).

I’ve made no contact since and have no desire to as I’m not going through a court case every time I try, and given that her abuse and harassment of both myself and my now wife once she found out we were together 11 years ago, and fraudulent use of my stolen documents after we broke up, were key factors in our decision to move back here it’s really not a place I’m keen to go back to, child I don’t know or not. It was really very nasty, and since he’s almost an adult now anyway I’m easy enough to find for himself without involving the mother if he wants.

If I just write in the form that the child is estranged and I have only very basic details from cms, will this be sufficient? I don’t really want to go into in depth personal details with the home office (plus there’s only 500 characters allowed on the form anyway), but I also don’t want to prejudice my wife’s application by giving too little information. I have no idea if the child is a British citizen, although a subject access request from the home office suggests my name has not been used in any application to be here, but that could mean he is a British citizen and doesn’t need any application, or they’re both here as Russian citizens on whatever visa without my involvement, so doesn’t really help.

Like I say, bit of a strange one.

Border control while flying from Ireland (Dublin) to the UK for those who need a UK visa

Hi there!

I'm Ukrainian, and I've recently got my first-ever UK Standard Visitor visa. I'm planning to fly to Dublin (Ukrainians don't need a visa to visit Ireland for tourism) and then fly from Dublin to Edinburgh, where I'll spend a few days before heading to London. I'll spend a week or so there before leaving the UK.

My question is: I've read that there's no routine border control when travelling from Ireland to the UK, and I'm worried that no border officer will stamp my passport. This means I might not have any physical evidence in my passport that I've entered the UK legally and with a valid visa. I'm concerned that this could cause problems in the future if I decide to apply for another UK visa (which I'm pretty sure I'll want to do). Has anyone had any experience with this?

Also, when you leave the UK, do they stamp your passport to record your departure? If they do, could they ask me questions about how I entered the country if there's no entry stamp in my passport? And if they don't stamp passports on departure, are entry and exit records kept electronically?

I'll be flying from London Gatwick to Warsaw, if that's relevant.

Thanks in advance!

Unmarried partner visa from inside the UK

Hey, I am looking for some quick advice regarding processing options on the UK visa portal.

My girlfriend is currently in the UK on a valid Skilled Worker Visa and is applying to switch to a Partner Visa from inside the UK. We need a fast decision as we are both going to Colombia on December 12th. We are currently stuck on the payment process, and not really sure what to do.

We've just paid the IHS fee., and we're now stuck on the application payment screen. The issue we've got is that is only shows the Standard processing fee—there is no option for Priority or Super Priority.

A few questions:

  1. Is 5-day Priority an option inside the UK for partner visas? Or is Super Priority (next working day) the only faster option for this route?
  2. Why are the Priority options not showing up? Have we done something in the application to hide the option or is there something else? I've read something about there being limited slots ( I write this at 19:30)

We haven’t paid the standard application fee yet because we don’t want to lock ourselves out of a faster option. Any insights from people who’ve gone through this recently would be hugely appreciated!

Communication evidence from Instagram- spouse visa application

I will be applying for the unmarried partner visa soon. Ran into an issue with the communication logs evidence. We chat primarily on Instagram, which it turns out is terrible for going back through years of messaging to get screenshots. Has anyone in a similar situation found a way around it? We have the message export from Instagram in html format, is it acceptable to use screenshots from the export or does it need to be from the app itself? Has anyone done this and been successful?

Thanks for any advice.

UK Student Visa Application from Dublin with Expired Irish Residence Permit

Hi everyone,

I'm an Iranian citizen currently living in Dublin, Ireland. I've been living here since 2023 and completed my Master's degree at Griffith College Dublin in 2024.

My Irish Residence Permit (Stamp 1G) expired on 30 September 2026. However, I submitted an application for an Extension of Student Conditions before my IRP expired, and I'm still waiting for a decision.

I'm planning to apply for a full-time, self-funded PhD in the UK, and I would like to apply for my UK Student visa from Dublin.

My main questions are:

  1. Can I submit my UK Student visa application from Dublin and attend my biometric appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre in Dublin with an expired Irish Residence Permit and proof of a pending extension application?
  2. Would UKVI accept the acknowledgement of my Irish immigration extension application as evidence of my current residence in Ireland?
  3. Has anyone applied for a UK Student visa from Dublin in a similar situation?
  4. Could my expired Irish residence permit cause my UK Student visa application to be refused, even if I receive an unconditional university offer and CAS?
  5. Would it be safer to wait for my Irish immigration extension decision before applying?

I would really appreciate any advice or firsthand experiences, especially from non-EU nationals who have applied for UK visas from Ireland.

Thank you!

ARD application for citizenship

Hi everyone, submitted a UK citizenship application with supporting documents for my mum using the ARD form. The HO charges £130 and asked for her to submit biometric and facial images.

Can this be a good sign or it's the due diligence happening?

UK unmarried partner visa - approved after 3 working days after bio, NO cohibitation and NO joint financial statement !!

Just wanted to encourage everyone here in this community. We have been dating since 25 months and my visa got granted today after only 3 WORKING DAYS - after the BIOMETRICS!!

I worked very dilligently on my visa application as i am a solicitor in Switzerland - i gave them 37 pages of screenshots of messages, in time line ordered and resumed, 5 witness statements, a table of all flights (over 47 between UK and switzerland) with tickets in the appendix, two pictures for everytime we saw each other (even if sometimes only from food we had together), showed them 28 applications I made with answers, that clearly stated that they would be interested in me, but cannot sponsor visa, the financial proof was via cash savings and I showed that we purchased jointly already a Car. However No joint account & no cohibitation. I am so glad i've put all those after work hours and weekends in our together future.

Had thought i was all good, but apparently Life in the UK isn't just for citizenship. Is that right? I dont have time to study and pass before my visa expires. What are my options? Any advice is appreciated. I'm just going to have a quick panic attack.

UK Global Talent (UKRI/KTP): resigned before entering UK, expired 90-day vignette. Can I still enter and do I need a Transfer of Conditions?

Hi,

I would appreciate any experience or pointers on an unusual Global Talent visa situation.

Background

  • In 2024, I received a UKRI endorsement for a KTP position and was granted a Global Talent visa (valid from 25 December 2024 to 25 December 2027).
  • Due to personal reasons, I resigned from the KTP role before travelling to the UK, and never entered the UK on this visa, and remain outside the UK.
  • My 90-day entry vignette has expired.

I have now (almost after two years) been offered a 10-month position in the UK. The employer has confirmed that they will not provide visa sponsorship, but they are willing to employ me on the condition that my Global Talent visa/immigration permission is still valid. So, I need to confirm that my permission remains valid and that I can enter the UK before starting.

My questions

  1. Does resigning from the original KTP role before entering the UK normally lead UKRI or the Home Office to withdraw the endorsement or curtail the visa?
  2. If the visa permission itself is still valid, can I enter the UK for the first time roughly two years after the grant date and take up this 10-month role, given that the employer will not be sponsoring me?
  3. Since my 90-day vignette expired, do I need to apply for a Transfer of Conditions/replacement vignette, or can I use an eVisa/share code to travel?
  4. Is there any requirement to notify UKVI/UKRI about the resignation or delayed entry?

I have contacted UKVI, which directed me to the Global Talent Endorsements team for the endorsement question and to the GOV.UK page on replacing a physical visa for the expired vignette. I am waiting for a response.

Please help me.

Thank you.

UK Skilled Worker Dependant Visa - Additional Documents Requested for RWP 6.2 (Genuine and Subsisting Relationship)

Hi everyone,

I just received an email from the UK Decision Making Centre regarding my dependant visa application (under Appendix Skilled Worker with reference to Appendix Relationship with Partner).

They are asking for additional evidence because of RWP 6.2, stating that the relationship between the applicant and their partner must be genuine and subsisting. The email mentions that they need more proof beyond just the marriage certificate.

Has anyone else received a similar additional document request for a dependant visa recently? What kind of extra evidence did you submit to satisfy this requirement?

Any advice or tips on how to format and compile this additional information (like photos, chat history, travel logs, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!

I applied for priority visa can thos delay the decision?

EU Filipinos Applying for a UK Visa from Japan — Were Your Documents Translated into English (bank statements, payslip etc.)

I’m a permanent resident in Japan applying for UK visa and it’s stated that non-English documents should be translated into English by a verified translator. My bank statements are in Japanese and my pay-slips too. I’m wondering if I could just submit it as is or translate it myself. Anyone has this same experience?

Overseas Skilled Worker Administrative Review – Medical Certificate Error and Sponsor Licence Revoked

Hi everyone,
I applied for a UK Skilled Worker visa from outside the UK. My application was refused because UKVI said they had not received my medical certificate, even though it was submitted with my original application. I have proof of submission.
I submitted my Administrative Review on 26 July 2025, and my solicitor believes the review should succeed because of this caseworking error.
However, my original sponsor’s licence was revoked on 26 October 2026, while my Administrative Review was still pending.
My solicitor has another licensed sponsor ready to issue me a new CoS if the review succeeds, but I’m trying to understand how the licence revocation might affect the outcome.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation where:
UKVI overlooked evidence submitted with the original application?
The Administrative Review identified a caseworking error?
The original sponsor’s licence was revoked while the review was pending?
A new CoS from another sponsor helped them obtain a visa?
I’d particularly appreciate responses from people who applied from outside the UK and have first-hand experience.

Best way to get hold of UKVI?

I'm still getting "Appointment Booking System Outage" when I attempt to book an appointment for daughters Certificate Of Entitlement in Antananarivo...

I've noticed the amount of available appointments for the day/time I wanted have gone from 6->3 so somehow people are managing to book which is making me suspect it's something to do with my individual attempt?

I'm just wondering how to get someone technical enough to actually look into it? The complaints process? Going through their pay per minute phone line?

Has anyone here tried to book an appointment recently? Were you getting the same error?

I had a 10-year Standard Visitor Visa before applying for a student visa this year. Is my visitor visa now cancelled?

I am now a student in the UK with a valid student visa, but I still had 8 years to go on my Standard Visitor Visa when I applied for my student visa (valid for 1 year). I had no idea my visitor visa would be cancelled when I got a student visa, I assumed I would still be able to use the standard visitor visa when my studies ended. I'm just reading about this online and I'm absolutely shocked. Is there any chance it wasn't cancelled and would be still valid next year? It's a vignette and not an e-visa.

Questions for upcoming visit to UK

Hi all,

I'm planning a visit (my first) from India to UK in January 2027. This sub has been very helpful in research. I have some questions that I couldn't find clear answers to. Would appreciate any insights at all!

  • I dont keep much funds in my salary account and immediately transfer most if it to 2 separate accounts (in my name). One holds the majority of the funds that I'll be using for the trip. Is it okay to show multiple bank account statements for the visa? Am i required to show all accounts or just the one with the most amount of and most stable funds?
  • What are the pros and cons of flying in from Gatwick or any other airport, besides Heathrow?

  • I am planning the visit with a friend, but will be making separate applications. Should I mention the friend and their application in my cover letter or nah? (I think no but no harm in asking those with more experience!)

Thanks in advance!

Pakistan Anyone on Skilled Worker Visa SOC 3554 concerned about extension and ILR?

Hi everyone,

Edit: My main question is specifically about bringing my spouse to the UK as my Skilled Worker dependant.

I’m a Pakistani national currently living in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa under SOC 3554 (Marketing).

• CoS issued: 21 July 2025

• Visa application: 28 September 2025

• Employment start date: 1 October 2025

• Visa approved: 11 November 2025

• Visa expiry: 11 October 2027

Given these dates, would the transitional arrangements allow my spouse to apply to join me as a Skilled Worker dependant, even though my visa application and approval were after 22 July 2025?

Has anyone under SOC 3554 with a CoS issued before 22 July 2025 successfully brought their spouse to the UK as a dependant after the changes? I’d appreciate hearing about your experience and which rules or guidance applied.

Would a future extension or change of employer affect my ability to sponsor my spouse as a dependant?

Thanks!

Urgent: Child’s SWV Dependant expiring (22 Nov) while Mother’s ILR delayed (“Exceptionally Complex”). Can we apply for Priority MN1 straight away?

Hi everyone, looking for some advice or real-life experiences on a tight timeline mismatch for my daughter’s citizenship.

Our Situation:

  • Father (Me): British Citizen (naturalised after child was born).
  • Mother (Wife): Currently on a Skilled Worker Visa. Her ILR application was submitted via Priority Service, but we just received the dreaded "exceptionally complex" delay notification. It is now pending indefinitely.
  • Child (Daughter): 2.5 years old, born outside the UK, has lived here for 2 years. She is currently a Skilled Worker Dependant.
  • The Hard Deadline: Her Dependant visa expires on 22 November 2026 (less than 4 weeks away).

The Hurdle:
We want to apply for her British citizenship registration via Form MN1 (Section 3(1) discretion). However, because she was born abroad and has only been here 2 years, casework guidance normally expects both parents to be settled. On top of that, I know an MN1 application does not trigger Section 3C leave.

Our Proposed Strategy:

  1. If my wife’s ILR drops by 8 November, we will immediately submit the child's MN1 via the £500 Priority Service (30 working days) and pay for a next-day biometric slot, hoping for that 1-week turnaround.
  2. If my wife’s ILR is still stuck by 8 November, we plan to pause the MN1 and submit a 3-year Skilled Worker Dependant visa extension for the child before 22 November just to secure Section 3C leave so she doesn't overstay. We’ll delay her visa biometrics by 2–3 weeks to see if my wife's ILR lands in the meantime (allowing us to cancel the extension for a refund and flip to MN1).

Questions for the sub:

  1. Has anyone successfully applied for an MN1 under Section 3(1) while the non-British parent's ILR was still strictly "in progress"? Did you use a cover letter to successfully argue discretion, or did they refuse / hold it in abeyance?
  2. Is our 8 November "pivot date" to file the child's Dependant extension safe enough, or should we file the extension sooner given the current processing climate?
  3. Can we safely trigger Section 3C leave for the child via a Dependant extension if the main applicant's (the mother's) underlying ILR is still caught in the "complex" backlog queue?

Any timelines, similar experiences, or sanity checks would be massively appreciated. Thank you!

Russia SUCCESSFUL SPOUSE VISA RENEWAL TIMELINE

Standard spouse visa renewal application from inside the UK.

06/09/26 APPLICATION

08/09/26 BIOMETRICS

16/09/26 ECO EMAIL

20/10/26 DECISION EMAIL

I know this is quite a late post but we have just been so over the moon with how much more simple this application process has been this time around! We opted to do absolutely everything ourselves without the help of a solicitor (which was both scary but humbling) and the fact that we did not have to travel to another city or send my passport away for biometrics was game changing!

Thank you once again for everyone’s help on this subreddit!

Should I write an invitation letter for my bf in addition to my mother's?

I am a British citizen in Hong Kong, My Boyfriend is Indian but lives and works in west Europe. He has already visited the UK previously by himself but this time we plan to go to the UK together to spend the xmas holidays at my family home. My mother has written the invitation letter but she's only met my bf once and that was before we started dating. She does not have a direct relationship with him.

Since there's a lack of evidence of relationship between my bf and mother (naturally) should I also write a letter of inviting him to travel with me to my family home? I have plenty of messages and photos I can share to prove a relationship.

I fly to Europe in Dec and will spend the week there before flying together to the UK - He has mentioned this in his covering letter.

I have read some posts in this sub about being rejected due to lack of proof of relationship so I am a little nervous now.

Skilled Worker ILR (SET O) – Starling Bank no longer provides interim statements. Has anyone faced this?

I have an appointment for Skilled Worker ILR (SET O) coming up.

I've received my October salary, but Starling won't issue an official October bank statement until mid November.

I can download a transaction summary showing my salary, but it says "This document is not a bank statement."

I have my October payslip and official September bank statement.

Has anyone faced this issue and submitted a transaction summary instead? Was your ILR approved, or did UKVI ask for further evidence?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks

UK Standard Visitor Visa - What are you planning to spend?

Hi everyone,
I am acting as the sole sponsor for my sister's upcoming 41-day visit to the UK. We are currently filling out her Standard Visitor Visa application form and are confused by the financial section.
Here is our financial breakdown:
Me (Sponsor): I am providing a budget of £4,500 to cover her return flights, food, and daily expenses. She will be staying at my place for free, so her accommodation cost is £0.
My Sister (Applicant): She has £3,000 in her savings account, but she only plans to spend a small amount (£300) of her own money on personal souvenirs and extra pocket money.
Our exact question about the online form is:
When the form asks: "How much money are you planning to spend on your visit?", what is it actually asking for?
Does it mean the Total Cost of the Trip (Sponsor's money + her own pocket money = £4,800)?
Or does it mean strictly her own out-of-pocket savings (£300)?
If she enters the total trip cost (£4,800) in that first box, and then in the next section states that I am paying £4,500 towards the visit, is that the correct way to fill out the form?
We want to make sure the math makes perfect sense to the ECO. Any guidance from people who have gone through the sponsor route would be greatly appreciated!
