News / PSA r/Wacom - Rules, Art Posts, FAQs

BASICS

If you haven't checked it out yet, we have two tabs on the Subreddit Menu bar for our Wiki and FAQs pages.

  • Read the Posting Guidelines before you post.
  • The Wiki has basic subreddit rules, reviews, links; as well as official Wacom information.
  • The FAQs is a good collection of frequently asked questions and answers. Visit the FAQ page before posting because you might find what you're looking for!

DRIVERS

To find drivers for your Wacom tablet, go to https://www.wacom.com/download and search by name (example: Movink") or model number (example: DTK-2100).

For a historical list of drivers going back 10 years go here: https://thesevenpens.github.io/DrawTabDataExplorer/drivers where you can find direct links drivers on Wacom's site.

PEN COMPATIBILITY

  • This List of Tablets & Cintiqs has a comprehensive rundown of most Wacom models and corresponding pens.
  • This List of Wacom Pens, will give you a good visual for a Pen you might have or are trying to buy after visiting the first Tablet list.
  • You can find Nib Replacements for pens from the last couple generations.
  • Wacom does not produce most older pens. So, you could have a hard time finding them and they may be expensive.

ART POSTS

We would like more people to post their artwork, but too often we get people just spamming and karma farming. Blatant self promotion is extremely limited, so when posting your artwork, tag it with the right flair and follow these few simple rules:

  • You can post a link to your art socials, but not in the title, only in a comment after posting.
  • Start a conversation: Ask a question, tell us what you struggled with, what your goals are, ask for critique, etc.
  • No blatant multi-sub posting or spamming your work here too frequently (karma farming).
  • Also tell us what software and hardware you're using. Neglecting this wont cause a removal, but most likely someone will ask.

Solved Free app brings old Wacom tablets back to life on Apple silicon Macs

I'd like to give you the good news about the new Tablet App for Mac, a free, open-source app that gets older Wacom tablets working again on Apple Silicon Macs.

The problem this app solves

Wacom's last driver for the Wacom Intuos4 tablets (version 6.3.41, from 2020) only supports macOS 11 Big Sur and earlier. Plenty of artists and designers still have these tablets, and the hardware works perfectly well, but on a modern Mac the Wacom driver no longer runs.

The new Tablet App for Mac takes over where the old Wacom driver left off. It's laid out like the original Wacom interface and settings, so there's nothing new to learn:

  • Pen pressure with a Soft to Firm tip feel, side buttons, eraser and tilt
  • ExpressKeys and the Touch Ring
  • Screen mapping
  • Different settings for each app and pen
  • A Scribble canvas to test pressure
  • Lives in the top Mac menu bar and, if you choose to, can start quietly at login
  • Eight GUI languages

It's free and open source (GPL-3.0), with no tracking.

It runs on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later. It's been tested with a Wacom Intuos4 on the latest macOS 27.0.1 Golden Gate, and we welcome reports from owners of other models.

What's next

We improve the app on a daily basis. Users can choose between the current stable version and the BETA, and even downgrade to an earlier version right inside the app.

Problem Is this old one any good? And does it work on windows 11?

At work they are throwing away some old junk and among the electronics stuff there is this complete in box old cintiq.

I don’t work with digital art, but I remember in high school 15 years ago or so I saw these online and thought they looked amazing. Ended up getting a wacom bamboo pen and touch I believe back then.

Would be cool if anyone here knows how to make it work with this on a win 11 pc

Promotion I rewrote Tablet Center in Rust — Wacom settings and pen scrolling for GNOME Wayland

Hi everyone! I’ve rewritten Tablet Center as a native Rust app using egui.

I started this project because I wanted macOS-style pen scrolling with my Wacom on GNOME Wayland: hold a pen button and drag the tip across the tablet to scroll while the cursor stays in place.

It also includes:

  • Pen button and ExpressKey assignments
  • Pressure and click sensitivity settings
  • Screen mapping and per-app profiles
  • On-screen radial menus and shortcut panels
  • Pen gestures for scrolling, panning, and zooming
  • Settings backups

The new app runs without a WebView or WebKitGTK.

It requires GNOME 48 or later on Wayland and an x86_64 PC. I’ve tested it with my Intuos S CTL-4100, but I’d appreciate feedback from people using other Wacom models.

It’s free, open source, and an unofficial project:

https://github.com/wfpaisa/tablet

If you give it a try, let me know your tablet model and how it works for you. Bug reports and suggestions are welcome!

Question Can I download old drivers for my no longer supported tablet?

I own a Wacom Intuos CTH-680. It’s incredible and I’ve been using it for years. Recently, I got a new PC (old one was Windows 10, new one is Windows 11) and tried installing the newest drivers for Wacom. When I opened the app and connected my tablet, it told me that my device was no longer supported. I need my drawing tablet for my animation course ASAP and don’t have time to wait for a new tablet to arrive. Is there an old driver that I can download for Windows 11? Is it safe for the health of my PC to download an old diver? Sorry if the question is stupid, I’m bad with computers

Purchase Advice Wacom MovinkPad 11 as a planner too?

I'm currently deciding between the MoveinkPad 11 and the samsung galaxy s10 FE.

I am a hobbyist in terms of drawing so I also want to use whichever device for planning in Penly. I know the MoveinkPad is android so it should work no problems but I haven't seen anyone mention planning on it as obviously the main focus is drawing.

Has anyone used their MoveinkPad for planning as well as drawing? On a side note is it good as an e reader with the paper like matte screen?

I know it's a drawing tablet but I would like to use it for these other simple things if I'm spending that much money as the Samsung tablet is basically the same price on Amazon and I know the processor etc is actually better.

Purchase Advice BenQ ScreenBar Halo on XOOT-mounted Cintiq?

Post image
3 Upvotes

This is a very specific question, but I'm hoping to use my Cintiq Pro 27 as both my everyday work monitor and my drawing tablet. It will be mounted to a XOOT Pro. When working (in a non-art-related field), I'll keep the XOOT in its fully-upright position and I'm hoping to place a BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 on top. I'm just not sure the backlight and clamp will fit between the back of the Cintiq and the XOOT arm. Here's a very crude mock-up that makes me think it may actually work? Anyone tried this?

Problem The buttons are falling off my Movink 13 pen; is there any way to fix it?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I dropped it and one of the buttons fell off; bummer but no big deal, I didn’t use that button too much anyways… but now another one has fallen off (for seemingly no reason this time) and makes the pen basically unusable (It can still draw but not having the shortcut is unbelievably frustrating) I tried to place the button back in the hole and when I do they still seem functional; but they won’t stay in; and will just fall out again.. is there any way to fix it? I’m worried attempting anything with glue will just break the pen beyond repair

Purchase Advice Updated MovinkPad11 from Android 14 to 16.

Just to say everything it went well.

I can't see any noticeable differences, there are better Google options for account management.

More importantly there are no issues, I am aware of the placebo effect with performance, everything looks smooth.

Question Extended warranty transfer

Hi, question on if extended warranty is transferable between Wacom accounts?
I was gifted a Cintiq with warranty added, if I ever need to use warranty in the future. Will I need to contact the original buyer for warranty information or ownership?

Problem Pen Eraser just doesn't even work anymore [Cintiq 13HD Pen]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Happened after a driver update a few years ago. Started small at first then just stopped working. My assumption is that because Wacom is an EVIL company that has stop supporting their older hardware, they updated the driver to FORCE those on older hard ware to shell out 2k for their NEW products, cause they're like MEGA ANTI-CONSUMER.... Drivers are up to date there is nothing that can be done. And you CAN'T get replacement pens for Cintiq 13 HDs anymore-- again because evil cooperation reasons. heccin' corpo rats.....

Purchase Advice Wacom Cintiq 24 Touch How Well Does Touch Work On Win11?

I love the touch on my iPad Pro and was wondering if the Wacom Cintiq 24 Touch is close to that experience?

I've read about issues with the touch on MacOS but not Win11.

Is wearing a glove necessary?

Problem Wacom Cintiq 16 / MacOS software issues

Hi, I picked up a Cintiq 16 (2025). Almost everything works great! I was wondering if anyone else is having the same software problem I am.

Connected to an M4 MacBook running 27.2 and Wacom driver 6.15.4-1, Wacom Center crashes whenever I try to make changes to the onscreen radial menu. App closes and spits out this error message:

I contacted Wacom support and they had me reinstall the software. No change.

Is there anyone with any insights? THX

Purchase Advice Which portable tablet is the best?

I’m currently looking for a new drawing tablet, because my iPad I have is old and doesn’t have pen pressure and I would like a good upgrade. I was going to get XXpen Android drawing tablet but found out it is not a good choice. I looked on Wacom’s website and saw the portable tablets, but which one is the best one? I’ve never owned anything Wacom before so it’s new to me, and also wanted to ask if they all use google play, cause the way I currently pay for my subscriptions (for ibisPaint) is via gift cards since I currently don’t have my own debit/credit card.

Can anyone please help me with this issue? I’ve no idea why my art pen lines come out like this in every program? It doesn’t matter what I draw in or what the pressure curve is. What’s wrong with it? It was just purchased yesterday.
