📢 AMA I analyzed 2,181 Bahrain job listings from the last 90 days. Hotels posted 1 in 3, and none of their 694 listings showed a salary

Tanqeeb is a job aggregator: for Bahrain it shows listings from Naukri Gulf, Bayt and GulfTalent (three Gulf-based boards, 97.8% of listings). I collected every Bahrain listing it showed for the last 90 days (Jul 26 to Oct 25, 2026), 2,181 in total, and looked at who posts them and what they disclose.

1. Hotels: 31.8% of listings

Marriott brands alone posted 15.6% (Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, Westin, Sheraton), then Accor and Four Seasons. Only Jordan had a higher hotel share among the 11 countries I've looked at so far; Qatar is level with Bahrain.

top employers

2. Salaries: 5.7% overall, 0 from hotels

124 listings show a salary. Of the 101 in BHD, the median is 475 a month (10th to 90th percentile: 165 to 2,250). Not one of the 694 hotel listings shows pay.

salary shown, by board

3. Other things that stood out

  • Recruitment agencies posted 12% (VAM Systems, Dolphin Manpower, Propel Consult).
  • Some "Bahrain" jobs aren't in Bahrain: Hilton Luxor (Egypt) and Four Seasons Riyadh posted 28 listings labelled Bahrain.
  • 97.8% are labelled Manama, because all three boards file Bahrain jobs under "Manama". On listings with exact locations, Manama is about 59%.
  • Sunday gets 11 new listings a day against 27 on Tuesday, although it's a working day: the biggest board posts mostly Monday to Friday.
  • "Information Technology" is mislabelled: half of its listings are hotel jobs (baristas, lifeguards, chefs).

Limits: listings on one aggregator, not all jobs in Bahrain. A missing salary does not mean a job is unpaid. No personal data was collected.

Source: public listings on bahrain.tanqeeb.com.

Question for people working in Bahrain's hotels: is pay usually discussed only at the interview stage, and which sites do you actually use to find jobs?

Car repainting - Olympia or Manila garage

Hello all, I'm looking at getting two panels repainted on my car and I've been recommended either Olympia or Manila garage.

Does anyone have experience with both or recommend one over the other? I'm trying to get the paint matched as close as possible

A genuine question about tarot reading and its acceptance in Bahrain

Hi everyone!

I visited Manama for a business trip a while ago and spent around two weeks there. I genuinely enjoyed my time in Bahrain. The people, the atmosphere, and especially the lively downtown area left a really nice impression on me.

I’m from Malaysia, and I practise tarot reading, mainly focusing on relationships, personal reflection, and helping people understand their emotions and situations from different perspectives.

I’m curious about how tarot is generally viewed in Bahrain. Is it considered socially acceptable, or is it a sensitive topic because of the local culture and religious beliefs?

I’m not here to promote my services or debate anyone’s beliefs. I’d simply like to understand the local perspective better, especially from people who live in Bahrain.

I appreciate any honest insights or personal experiences.

Thank you!

🤔 Discussion what's up with education in bahrain

Salam,
I am a middle school boys teacher working since 2023, and I want to share my experience since I started working.
I graduated in 2022, and I got into teaching early 2023. at first, I was at a high school, things weren't easy, but the students weren't that difficult to deal with, with a little bit of practice, you get the hang of it and it was pretty fun.
after that I was sent to a middle school later that year, and it was the worst year of life, everyone was telling me that it gets better with time, but fast forward almost 3 years, while I am now more capable as a teacher and got used to it mostly, I don't think things are getting better overall, not for teacher, not for students, and here's why i think that. and just to be clear, I'm not generalizing my experience there are more than a hundred school in Bahrain and ofcourse not all of them are like the one I work in.

  • Students are not getting any kind of real accountability, not on tests, workbook, their behavior, or anything that they need to take accountability for. and the parents don't help with that either.
  • workload on teachers, Teachers are tasked with so much work, that we need a break from work, to do work. and in some cases, things that should've gotten easier because of technology are ignored and we had to do them the old fashioned way.
  • teachers are expected to just get better, there are many programs designed to trained teachers, and they are often effective, but without the right environment, not many teacher will be able to use this training in the classroom.
  • classes are getting more cramped each year, when i was in school, classes didn't have more than 33 students, now I would be happy to teach in a classroom with less than 35. and we are expected to give care to each student.
  • lack of motivation, In the beginning of each year, students take a Placement Test, from the 160+ students I teach, can you guess how many of them got a grade over 60. exactly 1 student passed the test. no one wanted to even try proving their abilities.
  • general societal ideas, a lot of parents and people don't have faith in education, could be because they see others or themselves without a job or for any other reason.

I can go on forever with the problems I and other teachers face, but my point is, how did we get here? and why no one is doing anything about this?

I thought about leaving this job many times too, but having a family and knowing how bad the job market here, It's not the best idea right now, so please make duaa.

☝️ AskBH Anyone here going to Underground Gym? Looking for advice before starting my Fitness/weight loss journey

Salaam Alaykum, Hey everyone! 👋🏼 😄

I'm looking to start my weight loss journey and have been considering joining Underground Gym. I've seen them helping people get fitter over the years, and it seems like a place that could help me get started on the right track.

Before committing, I'd love to hear from people who have trained there or are currently members.

I have a few questions:

Trainers: How good are the personal trainers? Are they helpful with beginners, especially people who need to lose a significant amount of weight? Do they actually guide you properly, or are you mostly left to figure things out yourself?

Facilities and equipment: How's the gym in terms of equipment, cleanliness, and overall facilities? Do they have everything you need for a proper workout?

Nutrition and diet: Do they help with nutrition, meal plans, and figuring out what to eat, or is that something you have to manage separately?

Atmosphere: What's the vibe like? Are people friendly and welcoming, or does it feel intimidating for someone who's just starting out? I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who joined as beginners.

Pricing: Is it worth the money? Are their trainers and facilities worth the price, or are there cheaper gyms in Bahrain that offer similar or even better value?

My goal isn't just to join a gym, work out for a few weeks, and give up. I genuinely want to make a lifestyle change, lose weight, get healthier, and stick with it this time. I know I'll need guidance, consistency, and a good environment to make that happen.

I'd also love to hear from anyone who's been through a similar journey. What worked for you? Would you recommend Underground, or is there another gym in Bahrain you'd suggest for someone in my position?

Bonus question: Would anyone here be interested in becoming gym buddies or accountability partners? 😄 It would be nice to have someone to share the journey with, motivate each other, and make sure we actually show up instead of finding excuses!

I'd really appreciate any honest experiences, advice, recommendations, or even things you wish you'd known before joining a gym.

Thanks in advance, everyone!

☝️ AskBH Opening my own boutique

I posted a few hours ago asking if there are any alt stores or shops in Bahrain and got only a few responses. Many are stores I’ve been to already and don’t have a wide range for alternative clothing, mainly just street wear and current trends.

I’ve had this idea for a while but wasn’t sure if the alternative scene is wide in Bahrain, sort of like a hot topic but for Bahrain :p I don’t have the means to open a full fledged store but was thinking of starting online and once I’ve accumulated the right amount, I’d open an in-person boutique. Any thoughts and tips? Or is this just a dumb idea and a waste of my own money… :/ I did see a lot of alternative people when Metallica came to Bahrain, it’s like everyone came out of hiding lol

🤔 Discussion Went to public school my whole life in Bahrain. Would you put your kids in private, public, or switch halfway?

I'm a secondary school graduate, and I went to government schools my whole life. I've been thinking about this a lot lately because I'm starting to notice gaps in my general knowledge and English that I think came partly from my school environment. Meanwhile, my Arabic is strong, and I'm grateful for that.

I'm not a parent yet, but I want to hear from people who've been through it.

Here is my own perspective:

  • Public school: strong Arabic, local culture, mostly Bahraini classmates, builds toughness and independence. But English is weaker, the learning environment can be hit or miss, and it can be bad and unfractured.
  • Private school: stronger English, better learning environment and academics on average. But many are mostly expat students, classes are mixed, and kids can end up more comfortable in English than Arabic (Chicken nuggets).
  • Hybrid: private for primary, then public for intermediate and secondary (or the reverse). Looks good on paper, but I worry about the kid losing friends. My own friendships from school have lasted over 15 years, and we still talk every day.

Of course this is under the assumption that private school tuition fees are affordable lol.

I'm genuinely curious to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance!

Soot and Silver Spoons - From America to Bahrain.

A Story of Trauma, The Cross, and Islam.

A story of raw survival, the weight of the past, and an unexpected path to peace.

Growing up in a volatile New Jersey household shaped by addiction and neglect, Samara learned early that survival required becoming invisible. For decades, the scars of a fractured childhood served as her armor, building an impenetrable wall of hard-won logic, complete independence, and a resolute atheism.

But true peace rarely remains bound by the plans we make.

Spanning decades and continents—from the dark, unpredictable rooms of her youth to the quiet sanctuary of an artist’s studio in the Kingdom of Bahrain—Soot & Silver Spoons is a searingly honest account of trauma, recovery, and spiritual transformation. With the precise eye of a portrait artist, Samara maps out the journey from skepticism to surrender, proving that no past is too broken to be healed, and no room remains locked forever.

☝️ AskBH Alt shops

Hello! I’ve been looking high and low for alternative shops for various clothing, accessories, etc but the one I know in Manama (that used to sell band tees) has unfortunately shut down. Does anyone know a hidden gem or anything? I’m sick of ordering online :(
