Does anyone have a recommendation for someone who could come trim some hedges? The guy who mows our lawn usually takes care of them but he has been busy and hasn’t been able to get to them this year yet. Everything I’ve found online is a full on landscaping service and quite expensive.

Is there a place that hires 16yos during the holidays? I’ve been going on websites (nothing Bundt cakes) but most say 18+.
Would community service be good on a resume for summer employment if a paying job isn’t available over winter break?
Thank you for recommendations.

Anyone know why there were 6 cop cars with lights on at metro around 11pm on Saturday?

Not sure if everyone here has heard that Shotted has debuted its first Montgomery County location at Montgomery Mall! And boy, that entire corridor of the mall was packed with shoppers eagerly waiting to try out the "Pistachio" Latte & Matcha!

Shotted continues to be one of the leading coffeehouse besides Starbucks, that is actually worth your money. The taste and quality of the drink is a chef kisses!!

Honestly I'm not much of a coffee person, so I got a Pumpkin Cream Matcha, but definetly try out their lattes and see how you think of it! This might encourage you to do a quick mall-trip to try out the brand.

Has anyone else tried it out?

Talking about the 400 meter tracks. If not, are there any in the area that are openly accessible?

EDIT: BCC seems like a good option. Thanks y'all.

I meant “magnet”.

Does anyone have any experience with a shared driveway? I’m a renter and living in a house that has shared a driveway with the neighbors for a long time. The house next door has recently been bought by developers and rebuilt, and extends perfectly to the edge of the driveway. The developers have now spray painted a line down the middle of the driveway and are removing the gravel on their side. I’m assuming, and concerned, that they are planning to build a fence or a path of some sort on “their half” of the driveway, effectively making it impossible for us to use.

I’ve tried to get in touch with the homeowner about whether there was any formal land easement but they haven’t gotten back to me and the developers are moving fast. Do I have any options?

Hi all - we are moving to Bethesda for work and are tying to make sense of the neighborhoods / schools / commute situation.

We are a family of four, with two overly active kids in 5th and 7th grades looking to make quick friends with other kids and neighbors. Key considerations are quality of schools, safe community feel and reasonable commute to Downtown Bethesda. We are hoping to find something in the $3-4k range for a 3BR/2BA unit and would love any recommendations on areas, condos and schools to consider. I appreciate downtown Bethesda will not have much in this range, so definitely considering surrounding areas (under 30 mins commute).

Other considerations: access to public transport, parks and trails, tennis courts (if possible), reasonable management and generally quiet area as will be partially WFH. Ideally something family-oriented rather than an overpriced hipster building. Any recs on the buildings and general search tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi

Any one know whats a good time to head to Apple and get on line for the Duo release?

Contractors repaving Bethesda Avenue where they dug up the edges of the intersection earlier this year for water main repairs.

ETA: They've returned tonight (Thursday evening into Friday) for final asphalt paving

I bought this small pecan pie at Harris Teeter in Bethesda today. They obviously know it’s essentially just a dough bowl filled with sugar, but it’s surprising they are suggesting I eat just two pecans off the top. Not happening, but I appreciate their concern for healthful eating.

I'm looking for tennis lessons for my 6-year-old child. Do you know of any places around downtown Bethesda, or locations that are easily accessible by public transit from downtown?
The YMCA recently had to cancel lessons because they didn't get enough participants,
and for some reason, Tennister seems to have suspended junior lessons at their location near downtown and is directing people to another spot.
Private coaches are fine too!

Bethesda's a very nice place. Why is Giant Food so...jank? Feels like a Whole Foods should sit there.

Hi all, me and the guy I'm dating will be staying in Bethesda for 4 nights starting Wednesday. Besides the usual DC stuff, is there anything to do in the surrounding area? We're starting at the Hilton Garden?. We'll be flying in around 9pm and may be hungry. We're also maybe looking for a good local bar to watch the Cavs game on Thursday and possibly 🤞🏾the Guards on Friday if they advance to the WS.

TIA!

Howdy! I recently moved into the area to an apartment building whose chiller or boiler is turned on for a given day, in accordance with the morning's temperature. Problem is, I live on the face if the building which get sunlight for most of the day, meaning that even with my windows open and blinds shut, it gets pretty hot and humid throughout the day when the boiler's on and the AC has to be off. Anyone have any tips to keep things cool?

Very minor inquiry, tbh. This'll really only be an issue for a couple weeks lol.

Hello!! I’m looking for a hairstylist in Bethesda or Rockville that actually knows how to cut layers! I’ve had a bad experience in the past with a haircut where they pretty much gave me a mullet because they didn’t do the layers correctly. If anyone has any recommendations it would be much appreciated!!!

How many of you had a word hunt that was missing a word from bannockburn elementary school? I got one in english class when I finished my work early.

I’m in a bit of a Bethesda dining rut, so I’m looking to borrow some other people’s good taste and strong opinions.

What’s the ONE dish you keep going back for? Preferably somewhere downtown. Just the dish and where to get it.

And please, no “everything there is amazing” replies. I’m sure that’s lovely, but I’m perfectly capable of being vague and indecisive on my own.

I’m looking for some irrationally confident recommendations to try out this week.

Edit - 10/18 4:30p - Out of all the recs, I have only had ONE of them. This is eye-opening, thanks all!

Honestly, where do people store this stuff? We have a little “holiday closet” in our basement and sometimes have to play Storage Tetris if we so much as get another tree ornament for Christmas.

There's a new dog run/compact dog park on Montgomery Ave between Pearl and East West. Same side of the street as Sport & Health. No parking, but a great space with a small and large dog area, double doors and wood chips. Supposedly it's temporary, but hey, come out and join us while it lasts!

Hi

I’m travelling to Washington DC later this year and picking Georgetown to stay.

Is there plenty of transport into the sights- Lincoln Memorial, etc and is there an FBI tour?
