问题 | General Question (Serious) Question about CSC Scholarship and Master's in Food Science at Jiangnan University

Hii :> I'm currently a second year Food Science & Nutrition student, and I've been thinking about pursuing my master's in Food Science in China, preferably at Jiangnan University. I've been researching the CSC scholarship because studying abroad would be financially difficult for me without a scholarship. I still have two years left before completing my bachelor's, so I want to start preparing early and improve my chances as much as possible. My grades for the first two semesters are around 75–76%(I know my grades are bad lol, I had lot of things going on). So, I'd really appreciate it if anyone who knows about Jiangnan University or has received the CSC scholarship could help me with a few questions. 1. How difficult is it to get a fully funded CSC scholarship for a master's at Jiangnan University, especially for Food Science? 2. Does the uni offer other scholarships for international master's students that cover tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, in case I don't get CSC? 3. What should I focus on during my remaining two years of bachelor's to strengthen my application? Do internships, research experience, publications, or a research proposal make difference? 4. Are there any entrance exams I need to take in order to get in? like (IELTS/TOEFL, GRE, HSK) exams required? I know I need to work on my profile, and I want to use these two years wisely rather than wait until my final year to figure everything out. So it'll be a huge help for me if you could provide me with some info, TY!

历史 | History Just came across this powerful line in 55 Days at Peking

I’m watching 55 Days at Peking and came across this quote, often attributed to Napoleon:

“Let China sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world.”

What a powerful line, especially when you think about China’s place in the world today.

Just thought I’d share it here. It’s fascinating how a line from a historical movie can still feel so relevant decades later.

Curious what you guys think! 🇨🇳

问题 | General Question (Serious) Looking for a C-Store convenience store uniform shirt from Shenzhen, China (Tomato logo)

Hi everyone, I'm trying to track down a specific item as a Christmas surprise for my brother. Earlier this year, we traveled to Shenzhen, China, and visited a C-Store convenience store (the one with the red tomato logo). My brother really liked the uniform shirt the staff were wearing.

Does anyone know if it's possible to source genuine employee workwear from Chinese convenience store chains, or does anyone have experience using proxy services or platforms like Xianyu to find niche items like this? Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying all Chinese people are like this, or dissing the importance of the work of the great Chinese activists that help animals, but this sort of thing does seem to be a major issue in China. Granted, animal cruelty is a major and tragically upsetting world issue, the world over.
This is the sort of thing that I do think the world needs to know about when it comes to China.
Does China even have any real animal welfare laws to protect companion animals and farmed animals?

新闻 | News Raffles Family Office is betting on Asia's stablecoin billionaires

Asia’s young, self-made billionaires are a decade younger than their American and European peers. Having made their fortunes in tech and crypto—and with larger risk appetites than the “old money” rich—Asia’s nouveau riche manage their wealth very differently.

“What if somebody comes with $100 million of stablecoin? You can’t take them to a local bank,” Chi-Man Kwan, founder and CEO of Singapore and Hong Kong-headquartered Raffles Family Office (RFO), tells Fortune.

Younger billionaires are also more likely to store their wealth on the blockchain, via “newer currencies” like Bitcoin and Ethereum. “Even if their assets are U.S.-denominated, it’s going to be in stablecoins,” he says. Yet Kwan adds that most traditional-finance institutions don’t accommodate these digital currencies.

旅游 | Travel Hitchhiking from Shenzhen to Yunnan

Hello everyone! My friend and I are thinking about hitchhiking from Shenzhen to Yunnan this

December. Could anyone share what we should keep in mind? We study in Hong Kong, and so what should we expect when crossing the border and how should we describe our situation to the customs officers? Where should we try to find a ride cuz I have read it's not allowed for pedestrians to be on the expressways. Any advice is welcome! Thank you in advance!

旅游 | Travel Where to stay in China for 2 weeks in December/January?

Hi everyone!

First time poster!

We’re planning a 2-week trip to China in late December/early January with 5 year old and 75 year old grandmother. In-laws will be travelling from South Africa, and we’ll be coming from Australia.

Ideally, we’d like to stay in one place and do day trips rather than move hotels.

We’re looking for a mix of culture, sightseeing, food and child friendly activities. Milder weather would be a bonus!

We’ve considering Guangzhou but we’re open to other suggestions.

Where would you recommend as a base, and what day trips would you suggest?

Thanks so much! 😊

However, I have to buy the ticket via damai miniprogram. The tickets are available since Thursday.

I did absolutely everything I can, tickets are on sale and there are many many left, but I just cannot buy them!
Who can help? I was so far not able to reach Damai Online Service.

Thanks for your help!

咨询 | Seeking Advice (Serious) PLEASE HELP: Found an tiny nursing kitten in Pingyao tonight. Can someone help or post this on Xiaohongshu/Weibo?

Hey everyone, I’m currently in Pingyao (Shanxi) and I desperately need help. I just found a tiny kitten on the street that is so young it’s still nursing.

It’s really cold here tonight, nobody locally seems to care or want to help, and if I leave this baby here, it’s not going to survive the night. I can’t leave it to freeze or starve.

Is anyone in or around Pingyao who can foster/take it? Or can ANYONE who speaks Chinese please screenshot this and post it on Xiaohongshu (RED) or Weibo so a local rescuer might see it?

Please help, I’m on a tight timeline as a traveler and running out of options! 😭

UPDATE: since we couldn't find someone willing to foster or adopt it and we dont stey here for long, we took it to an animal hospital and they are going to foster it until they find someone local to adopt it.
