Don’t post about tickets.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that.

Don't buy tickets on Reddit, however desperate you are, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

So if you post about selling tickets here we will remove the post and may ban you. Please don't do it.

Posting about Tickets, Accommodation, Tourism? Things that aren't related to Dublin? Read This First.

This subreddit is primarily for people who live in Dublin. There's a dedicated sub for tourism posts with a huge archive at r/irishtourism Please check that first, and if you have a really specific question come back here and we'll try to help. Low effort posts asking for recommendations of "hidden gems" and "off the beaten track" tourist attractions will be met with scorn, and probably removal.

If you are looking to buy or sell concert tickets you are very likely to get scammed. It's as simple as that. Don't buy tickets on reddit, however desperately your niece wants to see Taylor Swift or whatever, it's a crazy risk. There are proper channels for resale of tickets, use them.

Looking for a cheap flat? A room in a shared house? Wondering if a specific part of the city is "safe" (whatever that means)? There's a sub for that too- /r/RentingInDublin/

Post your message there, not here.

A regular thing that comes up seems to be folks who have a very short time in Dublin and want to know what they can do in four or five hours or so. Just search this sub with the word "layover" and you'll see many many threads about this subject. Don't start a new one.

Similarly, threads about general issues which are not particularly Dublin-specific (salaries, national politics, international relations, stuff like that) may be removed.

At the latest estimate there are over a million Irish subreddits, so you will certainly be able to find somewhere to post your non-Dublin-relevant content.

Thanks for reading!

Edenmore, Dublin 5. An area plagued with drug dealing and anti-social behaviour for many years now and in 2026 nothing has changed. Please be careful around here on the buildup to Halloween. It seems to get it particularly bad. Some images from earlier.

Animal abuse 😭

I live in a Dublin City Council flat complex in the south west inner city. They are duplexes, so the 2nd floor is more like the 4th. There is a Belgian shepherd abandoned on a back balcony since Thursday.

I have reported it to the local Garda station and they advised me they don’t deal with it, they were so unhelpful and couldn’t have cared any less. I’ve reported it to the animal welfare unit in DCC and the NSPCA and have got no response, and no one has came out.

The dog is so distressed, it’s literally howling and trying to bite through a wooden pane that’s used in place of a broken window.

The flat is a crack den, so it’s not exactly the type of place where I can approach the occupants, one of them stabbed their next door neighbour before…..

It’s literally licking rain water from the wall on the balcony and is walking along the balcony wall. It’s only a matter of time before it falls, or jumps 😭 wtf do I do??

Update: DCC animal welfare unit arrived about 15 mins ago, they could see the dog as it was literally hangover over the balcony, they took videos and photos. They went to knock at the door and there seemed to be no answer, however I could see curtains twitching so there’s people there. They have left, not sure what will happen now. I have also contacted my lovely horse.

Gas boiler replacement.

Our 21 year old boiler is on its last legs. Needs to be reset every time you want to turn it on and gas tech who came out to look at it said he'd struggle to get the new pcb required to repair it and recommended just replacing boiler as its so old.

We're thinking of a combi boiler as the idea of having hot water on demand and not having to put the heat on an hour before showering/doing dishes sounds very handy. We only have 5 rads in a ground floor apartment with one bathroom which is shower only.

The tech who came out quoted us 3900 for the replacement and new thermostat, but looking online at the likes of gasworks, they seem to be starting around 2400 for install of a Bosch combi which is a bit of a gap.

Has anyone switched to a combi from regular boiler? or used gasworks or any recommendations for gas boiler replacement in Dublin?

Thanks

Affordable wedding dresses (600 - 1400)

Does anyone have recommendations for places that sell nice wedding dresses between 600 - 1400 euros. I find most places these days are over 2000 and unfortunately that’s a bit too expensive for my budget especially with how expensive everything else is these days!

I’m getting married in December 2027 so I’ve plenty of time and am open to travelling around the country too as day trips for the right dress. (I’m based in Dublin). I’ve tried Wed2B and they’re a solid option but was hoping to scope out some other places that had a bit more unique styles.

Also, if anyone has gotten dresses for significantly cheaper in neighbouring countries can you please share that too? Eg where you got it from and roughly how much? I’m hoping for one last holiday with friends before the wedding so I could plan around it. (Eg UK/ Spain.. anywhere with cheap Ryanair flights!)

I’ve also heard sample sales are the way to go but don’t really see many in my size (UK size 10). If anyone knows good spots that do sample sales often it would be a great help too. Also don’t know much about the wedding industry, is there a time of year I should look out for sales?

Thanks a mil!

Where to get plastic shot glasses

I want to make jello shots but can’t seem to find any clear plastic shot glasses . I’ve checked Dealz , Card factory, Tesco and haven’t been able to find them . My local supervalue only has red plastic ones but the tips where you can’t tell what flavour colour is inside . I wouldn’t mind the ones that are red and blue but inside they’re white so you. A see the flavour . I feel the cardboard ones I’ve seen would get soggy ? And at least I can reuse the plastic ones . Looking for a stack of 20/40 .

Is it safe to go to Halloween events alone in Dublin?

Hi lovely people of Dublin! I’m an international student who recently moved here and honestly most people I’ve met have been really nice! Unfortunately I had a pretty scary experience with a group of teenagers who shouted racist stuff at me and threw some cans towards me. I’m a POC and ever since then I’ve been a bit anxious going out alone, especially when I see groups of lads in tracksuits walking around together. I know most of them are probably just minding their own business but I guess that incident kinda scared me.

There’s a Halloween concert I really wanna go to but I’m a bit worried about coming back alone at night. I really don’t wanna sound like I’m generalising or judging Irish people because I’ve met some genuinely lovely people here! I’ve just heard similar experiences from other POC aswell and it’s made me a little nervous. Do you guys think it’s generally safe to go to these events alone, especially during Halloween? Sorry if its a silly question, I’m still pretty new here haha. Thanks a million! :)

New to Dublin, what’s on for Halloween?

Hello! I (26F) just moved in to the city a few months ago, and I’m looking for things to do for Halloween/Halloweekend. Are there any events/parties/festivals that would be of interest to a girl who just moved here and doesn’t have a group to go out with? Nightlife focused, but of course open to anything !!! Thank you preemptively for any help xoxoxo

Clubs recommendations for a millenial

Hi there,

Would you have any recommendations for clubs in the city center that play music from the 90's/00's or just pop music ? Most clubs play electro/techno/dance and I would rather jam well sharpened pencils in my ears than try to dance to that.

Thank you

I am not much of a parade person but I love seeing Macanas parade. It's something so eerie yet captivating. It's like living a vivid dream or tripping without anything.

The sheer ability to imagine and produce this parade is beyond my mental capacity. The people who take the stage and the ones who make the parts moving need to have a level of sheer brilliance. Here are my few captures of someone missed seeing the parades.

Attic insulation costs inline with SEAI grant

I live in a terraced house with an attic area of approximately 36m2. A while back I got a quote from an approved contractor for €2700 to place an additional 200mm of insulation in my attic. Seemed a lot, even once the grant is deducted would have cost €1400 so I stalled with any improvement plans. I’ve recently heard of some SEAI companies down the country doing satisfactory work that came within the grant or thereabouts.
Anyone get better costs in the Dublin area? I’d prefer to use an approved One Stop Shop contractor.

missed the green bin options...

I miss the green bin, and in my house, if that happens, it's serious because it's already wedged after the two weeks . Now we have to live with plastic bags and cardboard scattered through there.

We really do need to do something about these bins l. every 2 weeks, and a small bin . How can the same-size bin cater to a small couple and a family of six? and the 2 weeks thing is annoying.

Anyway, what are my options here? Is there anywhere I can go to dump recycling for free? south Dublin

Anyone know somewhere I can buy a hydrometer?

Smashed my hydrometer there a few days ago and need to buy a new one for some mead batches I have going for Christmas. I know there's various online places in Ireland but I don't wanna pay more than the thing itself in shipping. Anyone know somewhere I could pick one up in a brick and mortar shop?

House Cleaning service

Hi! Is there any house cleaning service to recommend? With some good prices? The house is small so it shouldn't take more than 2-3h to clean it all.
