(Discussion Post) Groovy "I didn't like it because their powers weren't consistent" Spoiler
What are you talking about lol?
The deadite powers have changed every single movie.
"The deadites didn't feel like deadites."
Again, the deadites have changed slightly in personality every movie.
"I didn't care for any of the characters."
Are you coming to an Evil Dead movie for super in-depth characters? We're here to see some blood splatter and some limbs fly. Regardless, the characters have been great. I have loved all of the final girls, they're all bad asses, I don't care.
"There wasn't enough humor."
The first Evil Dead movie was a straight horror movie and now all of sudden that's a bad thing?
"It wasn't scary."
It doesn't need to be. It was gruesome and fun. Army of Darkness isn't scary.
These complaints are so vague you could apply it to almost any of the movies but I'm mostly thinking about Burn. I just don't understand these complaints. Like I get everyone has their taste but it seems like A) some of yall want to not like it and B) are making complaints that make no sense given the nature of this franchise.
Like it seems the whole point of the reboot franchise is giving these indie horror directors a chance to make their own Evil Dead film in their style and so each movie is unique in tone, directing, style, etc but its still Evil Dead.
I guess I can understand the lack of the classic deadite trash talk in Burn but everything else is there. Burn is lowkey my favorite. It was the most brutal, the grimiest and I personally love the themes of familial abuse.
Genuinely not trying to be a jerk I just don't understand. Does anyone else feel this way?
Edit: for the record, i don’t think it’s perfect but i love the vibes and the brutality was fun.

(Discussion Post) Groovy Burn was too confusing Spoiler
To start off, I’m not a horror fan and only recently got into the genre and started off with the Evil Dead series. The soft reboot I enjoyed, the 2013 version, and Rise was okay for the most part, but Burn confused me. Who did all that? Was it the muraduer? Or the Taker of Souls ? Why did the muraduer speak the incantation of the first movie? There were five souls that were taken. Is fire not a weakness of the Taker? Is the dagger a different one from the original series? Regardless of who it was, I felt that the demon didn’t do the over-the-top psychological damage it did in the first two films; it was all just physical fighting rather than the torment of the first two.
Maybe I’m trying too hard to find logic in a movie, a horror one at that, and maybe I’m just an asshole but I’d love to hear your thoughts and theories. It was a fun series, and I wonder what I’m going to get into next.
