All the sidebar content (including study materials, links etc!) is in this post for easy visibility and access via mobile.
Since ~50% of the sub's traffic comes from mobile devices nowadays, I decided to address the issue of sidebar visibility by stickying its content in the front page.

Eppika for reading/audio books
Γεια σας! I was curious if anyone knew if Eppika was good for Greek learners. The app is a book reading app that supposedly adapts the translation to match your estimated vocabulary reading level.
I’m an elementary reader and for the most part I feel like I can follow along and it matches what I know. I’m just curious if there are any red flags I should be on the look out for/ any inaccuracies you can tell and advise not to.
I will say I’ve enjoyed reading the books way more than the gamified education apps. It got weary to hack Duolingo’s algorithm and figure out the right answers without absorbing the words.

Want to speak Greek? I can help you
Hi there! I’m Elena
I’m from Greece and I teach Greek online. What I love most is seeing my students go from a simple “γεια σου” to speaking confidently in real conversations. We always combine speaking with just the right amount of grammar, so learning feels natural and makes sense in context.
My lessons are relaxed and interactive — completely tailored to you. Whether you want to chat, understand grammar, or explore everyday Greek life, we make it simple, fun, and practical.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, just drop me a message. I’d love to hear about your goals and help you get started with Greek. 🙂

FREE TOOL: Learn Greek + Bible
Hey guys, I made an app for myself to learn modern greek using the Bible (not original koine greek). It is currently and will always be free. I just ask that you give me feedback on the lessons and user experience so I can use it as a portfolio project and help the most people learn both these things.
https://scripture-stories-three.vercel.app/
It uses multiple story telling techniques to optimise language learning, which I have picked up over the years in order to learn 4 languages! Other features include:
- memory saved across devices
- mobile first UI
- spaced repetition for vocabulary and verb conjugation
- glossary for word lookups
- Mobile device audio for reading text
- weekly greek orthodox liturgical book

Work in Greece
Work in Greece
Hi! My name's Ana and I'm from Spain. I've fallen in love with greek language and culture recently. I'm through a lot of changes in my life and thought it would be such an adventure to live and work there. Housing situation here is horrible, reaching the point where a room can cost up to 600€ in a shared flat. Is there any job offers website I can use or a job public agency I can use? Would be great to find any part time job while I finish my degree. Are rented rooms very pricey compared to median wages?
Any advice will be welcome!
Ευχαριστώ πολύ!

Question about FSI Greek course
This is what the website says and I am just curious if someone were able to elaborate further on the “Greek language question” and if the course would still be efficient?

I wanted to share a Quizlet study set containing six entries about Lambda Chi Alpha's Greek letters, meanings, and traditions.
Below is the complete information included in the flashcards.

2. Second Degree
"When the thirteenth flame burns without fire, and the faceless witness speaks without a tongue, I shall stand among the nameless. Neither bone nor dust, neither time nor death, shall sever the bond we have sworn beneath the unseen light."
3. Third Degree
"Before the serpent with seven shadows, I surrender the name I carried before the dawn. Let the silent bell mark my passage, let the blackened stars bear witness, and let no stranger know the path by which I entered."
4. Lambda Chi Alpha (ΛΧΑ)
Meaning: Our flame shall never die.
5. Delta Pi (ΔΠ)

Looking for greek music
I’m trying to learn a little bit of greek, not necessarily for any purpose, and part of the way I like to learn languages is through listening to music in said language, so I wondering if anyone knew any good greek rock music or the like?
For reference, I listen to David Bowie, Mother Mother, and Enjambre a lot for rock music, σας ευχαριστώ! (If google translate is correct on that being thank you…)

μισό / Μισώ
If I walk into a chicken shop and ask for 'μισό κοτόπουλο', I'm asking for half a chicken.
If I walk into a chicken shop and say 'Μισώ το κοτόπουλο', I'm saying I hate chicken.
(1) Is there any pronunciation difference between 'μισό' and 'Μισώ'?
(2) Here, we can see the difference in meaning because of 'το' before 'κοτόπουλο'. Are there any situations where there might not be something like 'το', so apart from the spelling difference we can say μισό X and Μισώ X?

Feedback on handwriting
I write lefty so my letters lean. I struggle with α, γ, χ, ρ. Placement on the line I always mess up. Any feedback is welcome!
P.s. this is an email my pappou’s friend wrote and I am writing it down to have and frame (on better paper eventually) so I crossed out last name.

For anyone who has done the B1 exam, what’s the gap you need to close between A2 and B1 for writing specifically?
I started learning last year and have passed the A1 and A2 with distinction. Honestly both times I felt like I only reached the standard very close to the exam itself.
Γι’ αυτό - for B1 I want to be more prepared! What I find confusing though is what will be expected of me in terms of writing. I think with A1 it was all about getting literally anything relevant to the question on paper, with A2 - I think it was about doing writing that was about 20% better than A1 but with proper spelling and grammar.
If I’m being totally honest - I haven’t done any writing in about 2-3 months as I’ve been concentrating on reading and speaking. I have made massive strides with writing but it’s the thing I find hardest and I also find it very hard to get back to it after a break.
The other thing is that writing is the only section where there are no sample answers. Eg for speaking you can watch a video of what a good exam looks like, and for reading/listening you can see the answer key.

Classes in English or Greek?
Γεια σας!
question for those of you who have Greek classes. Im now level A1, been doing classes for about A year now. I’ve started with a group class where the teacher spoke mostly Greek. I had no idea what was happening a good chunk of the time, but at the same time appreciated the “immersion”. Now for several reasons I’ve switched to private lessons. I really like my teacher but he mostly speaks in English during the class. It’s easier to follow for sure, but maybe less immersive?
my question is — do you think at a very low level like mine, it is more effective to have classes/lessons taught mostly in Greek with the occasion explanation in English to clarify things, or English as “working language” and Greek only in terms of content?

Beginner to Greek
Γεια σας! I've just started studying Greek and I love the language! I just have one question, it might have been already asked here, but here it goes:
Is there a rule about which "i" letter (ee sound) to use in a word? There are 5 different forms - οι, ει, η, υ and ι. I never know which one to write even though I know how to pronounce the word. Is there some kind of basic rule, or you just learn it the way it is in each word?

Πώς μπορούμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε τα γκρίκλις;
