Tokyo ward seeks 5-year ban on condo unit resale

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A central Tokyo ward on Tuesday urged condominium developers to ban buyers from reselling their units for five years after purchase in an effort to curb surging property prices.

Chiyoda Ward made the request to developers carrying out projects in the ward under a scheme that grants incentives such as relaxed floor-area ratio limits.

It also urged developers to prohibit buyers from purchasing multiple units in the same building under the same name.

According to the ward, scalping has driven up the prices of new condominiums, which in turn has pushed up prices in the used home market and apartment rents.

The ward also said that scalping could increase the number of unoccupied units, potentially causing problems for the residential environment and the operation of condominium management associations.

The ward made a similar request to the real estate industry in July last year.

Those who have applied for US B1 or B1/B2 visa in Japan

When were you able to book the interview slot? It is not possible to see availability before you pay the application fee.

If you already had your interview, can you share what questions were you asked? If you applied for B1 visa for business meeting, did they ask for invitation letter?

I have to apply for B1 visa (for business meeting/project discussion) to visit subsidiary of Japanese company I work for.

Any rentable spaces to draw ergonomically?

Hey yall, I’m a digital artist and I was just curious if there’s any spaces in Tokyo that have like ACTUAL good neck support chairs and desks to be able to draw for a few days? I saw there’s stuff like shared work spaces but the chairs looks super uncomfy. I’m working off of an iPad as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey, does anyone want to hang out in Ebisu on Halloween? There are tons of bars so we can do our own self-guided bar hop. Anyone interested?

Im looking at a few options for a masters in Japan after getting my Bachelors degree from a US University. Is Temple any good for masters? If not what other schools are good in Tokyo that are fully in English for AI/Business/Management degrees?
