Here's your chance to list your local Marine Corps birthday celebrations. This is for non-active-duty parties, so you can let everyone know where to be a degenerate drunk with your fellow veteran Devil Dogs from Vietnam to Persia.

Picture Something really strange happened back in the day and I still think about it.

Camp San Mateo - Some time after we got back from overseas in Aug '91 a few of us E3s were kicking it in my barracks room in the flat-tops, it was a weekday afternoon after chow. Three Marines showed up at the hatch, I don't remember their ranks (not SNCOs) but they all outranked us. No badges, no brassards, just three dudes in salty cammies. One of them asked who's room it was, I raised my hand.

Two stayed in the hall, one came in and grabbed a chair. He moved it to about the middle of the room and stood on it. He pushed a ceiling panel up, retrieved a lock box from the overhead, got down, walked the Hell out without another word and he and his buddies left.

We sat there looking at each other like idiots for a bit, then I got up and went outside to see where they went but they were nowhere to be seen.

It was one of those standard grey lock boxes, like you'd keep petty cash in or something, and to this day it bugs me wondering what was in it.

Have not received my bonus

As the title says, I have not received my enlistment bonus. I shipped out April 1st with a $10k 0311 sign on bonus, went through boot, itb no problem. I've been with my unit for a year, I've talked to S-1 and the career planner and keep getting told it's a hqmc issue as they haven't gotten to my case. Is there anybody I can contact because im honestly running out of hope and patience and I honestly just think I got fucked over and there's no money for me

Question Did you know that up until 2015 the CH53 had hollow radioactive rotor blades ? From 2015 on the new model The king stallion blades were made of composite

The radioactive material was part of the in flight blade inspection system (IBIS), which used tiny radioactive sources inside hollow metallic rotor blades to detect structural cracks and send an alert to the cockpit.

Also yes I totally just leaned this shit myself 🤣

ADHD Evaluation

I’m about to two years into my contract in a flight status role but find myself struggling a lot, I have a lot of symptoms that sometimes heavily impact my performance and am questioning what the outcome would be if I got evaluated for ADHD? Where I would even begin the process to start getting seen for it or if I’d be able to fly anymore.

u/bdamarine , what was the process like upon arrival? and is this still going on? by Amtrak?

I checked if there was an MCRDSD equivalent of this, like arriving via the Pacific SurfLiner or some shit. and theres none. but I do remember train tracks at MCRDSD though-- behind those warehouses.

Anyone here arrive at Yemassee station and or arrive by train at MCRDSD like for WWII or Korean war or Vietnam or some shit???

u/___wintermute said that band, I don't know if its just fleet bands or also Drum & Bugles CMC's Own, that they also do security work like MSG and FAST i guess? If this is in fact the case, i'm totally regretting i didn't join band now, cuz i'd be slapping everyone thats good guys and bad guys alike with my skin flute! then play it while theyre down, i'm just saying here. hopefully you don't have to audition cuz I also have bouts of stage fright too though.

But band 's secondary mission is security too? WTF.

Question BIR Question

8 years into this gun show, and I noticed my BIR has my citizenship as CA today and my county of origin as the US. What does that mean? I have a TS/SCI and was born in the US, so I’m definitely a citizen.

2nd MAW’s Osprey squadrons are getting an AI maintenance tool

Military Times reports that 2nd MAW is expanding its use of Iris, an AI tool, to six stateside MV-22 squadrons. A seventh would get it after returning from deployment, according to the company.

The pitch is better visibility on supply gaps and better aircraft scheduling around maintenance. The article doesn’t show that it has improved Osprey readiness yet.

Just need looking for some elaboration

Hey devils so I’m currently in the reserve, long story short my company was meant to deploy 200 marines but it just got cut down to just 89 because funding. I had a medical issue a few months prior so As a result got taken off. Fast forward now I’m currently in the middle of putting in a package for active reserve(AR) and wanted to know the actual differences between that and just full blown active? And what units can you attach to? Im a 0311, generally a good marine and prefer/enjoy more hands on shit with my mos instead of admin or just being reserve. Greatly appreciate any help

Question IG investigation resulting in administrative action?

I filed a IG complaint and was told my “allegations were addressed and administrative action is being taken. “ Does that means the claim was substantiated? It didn’t specifically say. I’m not sure how I feel about the response because I don’t even know what admin action even means?
