AskBangalore Does anyone else's Bengaluru address only make sense if you already know the area?

My apartment has a perfectly valid address. Main road, cross road, layout, PIN code. Everything is correct on paper.

But if you actually try finding the entrance using that address, good luck.

Google Maps takes you to the back wall of the compound. The main gate is on a different lane. The building name is partly hidden behind a tree, and the road sign disappeared ages ago.

Delivery guys usually call and I tell them to come near the bakery and take the second left. Works every time.

Recently our security guard asked residents to update the delivery instructions in their apps because people kept showing up at the wrong gate.

And it made me realise how normal this has become. We basically have two addresses. One for official documents and another that only makes sense if someone explains it over the phone.

Now imagine it's an ambulance or a fire engine trying to find the correct entrance at night.

I'm not talking about traffic delaying emergency vehicles. That's a separate nightmare. I'm talking about the last 100 metres, where a perfectly accurate location pin can still lead to a locked gate on the wrong side of a building.

We spend so much on apartment security, CCTV and fancy entrance landscaping, but something as basic as a clearly visible building number and gate location seems to be an afterthought.

Have any apartment associations here actually tried fixing this? Not just correcting the Maps pin, but making the building genuinely easy to locate for someone visiting for the first time?

I'm curious whether this is particularly common in newer layouts or if older parts of Bengaluru have the same problem.

Rant What’s common between autos and Thars in Bengaluru?

Both behave like every traffic rule is a challenge to their fragile ego.

Spotted this evening when everyone else was waiting for their turn on the right lane, a bunch of autos and this thar decided that they are above all else.

Suggestions I restored my grandfather's 47 year old watch

Post image
74 Upvotes

I recently got my grandfather's 47 year old Seiko from an old box at my ancestral place. Its pretty much the only "inheritance" he left behind for me. I wasn't sure if it would be worth fixing up and after some research, came across the shop "Time & Me" near New Thippasandra.

Upon visiting the place I realised it really is a place where you can get watches repaired in a truly professional way. Jileesh, the owner, was great and told me it would cost 4K to fix it.

A month later and after a request for expedited repairs so that I can wear the watch on my wedding, I finally got the watch today, restored well and in working condition.

Shoutout to Time & Me.

Citizen's Report Kudlu lake Maintenance

I stay near kudlu lake and there’s literally no maintenance and no strict rules for the maintenance of the lake, not sure whom to contact. 100s of people use it daily for walking and running. The stride is around 1km. People are making it still more worst day by day. They are dumping their waste in this lake. Can someone help me with a contact so that at least some care is taken atleast maintenance and cleaning and some strict rules with cctv cameras so that public will not spoil the environment.

AskBangalore Can we enter Terminal 2 early for a 5AM international flight if we arrive from T1 domestic at 9 PM?

We (family of three with kid) have an early morning international flight departing from Terminal 2 around 5AM. We will be arriving at Terminal 1 on a connecting flight at around 9 PM the previous evening and will need to transfer to T2.
I’ve heard conflicting information about whether passengers are allowed to enter the terminal so early before their flight.
Could anyone who has travelled recently or has first hand experience please clarify the actual situation? Thanks!

Disclaimer- This is not a post about defaming the police.

Hello everyone,
On 24th October, my bike was stolen from outside my house at 3am. I am extremely unsure if the police is serious about the case, because it’s been a few days and they have not even visited the site once except this one officer from Crime Dept who is now declining my calls.

Edit: Case was reported in less than 12hrs and usual 24hrs protocol for FIR was followed and in exact 24hours my FIR was registered and signed by the PSI today(26th).

Model- YAMAHA FZ-X
Colour- MAT TITAN 2
Loc- Koramangala, 5th Block
Plate- KA01 KJ 0513

I have been told by them to not worry and that they are sure about finding it.
As for any other details, please lmk and I’ll DM.

Emotional rant:
It was my first bike bought from my own income. I don’t really belong from a well to do household so it’s not at all easy for me to cope up.
Luckily I have good people are to support so it’s a bit better but the brain is very F’d up.
These are the times I feel that someone in power be it state or central is very important.
I have travelled, explored Bangalore, and have a lot of attachment to it.

Help:
If there is a way to expedite the process by bribing or whatever or how it’s done, or people to contact to then that’d actually help.

AskBangalore Need help

Hi guys, I am a resident of Srinivasapura for the past few years and have seen the rapid development this place has undergone. 1.5 years back we had a bus stop and buses (375 and 378 series) used to stop right in front of the stop. Whenever it rained we could stand and wait inside. That bus stop was demolished for "road widening" which never saw daylight. Even now there are "jelli kallus" just discarded across that area, and there is no bus stop, and many buses don't stop there anymore 🥲

It's just so uncomfortable to walk to that stop with all these rocks, and even after we gestures buses to stop many of them don't.

Interestingly a new pub opened right behind the bus stop and now that old bus stop has been turned into their parking lot. Only the pub area has been tiled properly. We heard it's connected to former or present CM and the pub doesn't stop overly loud music after 11:30pm. And no one is able to stop it.

Like I don't even understand how basic things like bus stop is not constructed, road is not widened, and when we get down that stop it's risky because the vehicles are overtaking from the wrong sides and people getting down can get hit by them.

I have mailed to BBMP rakshana vedike twice, even the commissioner but did not get any response. Does anyone know what more letters do the residents need to send to get this thing sorted?

Any procedural help would be great!

Citizen's Report Some random people stole our cat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Our Millie (orange cat) was 3 years old. She was the most caring mom even though her kittens were more than a year. She is the friendliest cat we have ever had. Used to understand everything.

She used to leave home and come back most of the times. Atleast for its babies.

On 21st random 4 people came with net and a sack and took her in two wheeler. It happened right in front of house. I am fuming and grieving at the same time.

I really don’t know why would anyone take a stray cat. I just heard from people some people eat cats and dogs.

How to go about this.
Have not been able to find the two wheeler number. None of the neighbours cctv is working.

Location: Mathikere, Near JP park back side

Rant Why is there so much road digging happening everywhere? Has the municipal body changed?

First of all, the already amazing quality of our roads wasn't enough, apparently, and now they've started digging up the middle of the roads too. And not just inside localities, even the main roads!

And the best part? It's not like they'll fix everything and close it up once the work is done. Nope, just leave it open for 3–6 months, let the dirt pile up, and make people travelling through there play a whole-ass MAZE just to get to their destination. 🤦‍♂️

What TF is happening?!! Every morning, when I leave for office, it feels like I'm playing some obstacle course game, figuring out which block to get around just to reach work.

Is there some major project going on, or has road digging just become a permanent feature now? 😭

Serious Replies Since when Passport renewal because me a mess here

Hi we just settled in Bangalore a couple of years ago, but have all our family roots and documents confirming our Karnataka nativity and residence.

Recently my spouse applied for renewal of passport which was due for renewal in 3 months.

I delayed the application thinking it's just few weeks or a month time required

First shocker came was when we applied in August for renewal the interview date was given 3rd week of October. Not sure since when Passport renewal became a visa application queue.

When we went 20 mins early to the center at alloted time 11:45 am found there is a huge queue just to get token.

The token itself got alloted at 1.15pm almost 1 and hours of waiting.

The token then shown queue time 15 mins.

After 15 mins when went to first counter shocked to see wait time of 1 hr. Token number 370 in progress and our token was 506. Finally after 4 hrs of this torture renewal process completed. Now not sure how the actually issuing and delivery experience is going to be.

I had renewed a couple of years ago in Chennai and the whole process was so smooth that I praised our country and goverment of making the whole experience so pleasant but shocked to see it's gone to worse.

Is this a common experience now a days? What went wrong with all the digitization and experience upgrades done?

Also is it a Bangalore only issue or other locations have also gone back to old ways.

Really concerned now that the country maybe going backwards it's clearly visible in the joblessness, the uncontrolled and unmanaged government offices and general life experiences all going downhill

Citizen's Report QuicReach cab driver manhandled me and forced me to pay ₹500 extra at Bangalore airport.

Post image
99 Upvotes

On 23 October, I took a QuicReach cab to Bengaluru airport T1. I got motion sick on the highway and asked the driver to stop. He couldn't pull over in time, so I vomited out of the window, leaving some splatter. I cleaned it myself with a cloth. As far as I could see, there were no visible marks left.

At the airport, he demanded ₹500 extra for cleaning. I offered ₹200. I called QuicReach support, whose agent said ₹500 was too much and asked him to take ₹300. I agreed, but he refused. People nearby tried to help too.

He shouted, manhandled me, took my luggage and wouldn't let me leave. I was stuck outside for an extra 40 minutes, close to missing my flight. Normally I'd stand my ground, but I was scared he would hit me and couldn't afford to miss the flight. I paid ₹500 to get away, not because I thought the demand was fair.

My main issue isn't just the cleaning charge. Support was involved in real time but couldn't get him to cooperate or help me leave safely. Three days of calls and emails later, QuicReach says it's investigating, but I still have no written outcome or resolution. I've also filed a police complaint.

I wouldn't recommend QuicReach after this experience. What protection does a passenger have if a driver can ignore support while intimidating them? Has anyone had a safety complaint with them resolved?

So I finally decided to test a new camera angle today, and of course, this is what I encounter. The worst part? I was running an ND filter, so the motion blur completely wiped out the guy's license plate. Lesson learned: no more gear testing on the road. I'm sticking to a CPL filter only from now on so I can actually pull plates when stuff like this happens.

Serious Replies Title: Need urgent guidance for my sister facing years of domestic abuse in Bengaluru -police response hasn’t helped

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here because my family is desperately looking for genuine guidance and support for my sister, who has been facing domestic abuse during her marriage for approximately 12 years.
She lives in Bengaluru and has two children.
For years, she has endured continuous mental and emotional harassment from her husband. He constantly taunts her, humiliates her, undermines her confidence, and questions her character, morality, work, decisions, and relationships with her own family. Almost every aspect of her life becomes a reason for criticism or humiliation.
This prolonged treatment has seriously affected her emotional well-being, and we are worried about her mental health.
Unfortunately, the situation has recently escalated into physical violence as well. In the latest incident, he pushed her, causing injuries. This is not the first time she has experienced physical abuse.

Our family has tried to seek help. We called 112, but the response was essentially to ask them to sit together and resolve their differences. We also visited the police station, where the police spoke to him and asked him to cooperate with her. However, we have not seen any meaningful action that makes us feel the situation is being taken seriously.

We understand that marital issues can be complicated, but this is not simply a disagreement between a husband and wife. We are concerned about a prolonged pattern of emotional abuse that has now escalated to physical violence.
We are looking for practical help and guidance on the following:
Are there any reliable NGOs in Bengaluru that support women experiencing domestic violence and can help us navigate this situation?
Is there a women’s support organisation or a Protection Officer who can help her understand her legal rights and the protection available to her?

What is the appropriate way to escalate a domestic violence complaint when the local police have not taken meaningful action?
Can anyone recommend a trustworthy lawyer or free legal-aid service experienced in domestic violence cases?
Is there a way to ensure that this matter is handled formally and that appropriate protective measures are considered, rather than repeatedly being treated as a private marital dispute?

Our immediate concern is her safety and the well-being of her children. We want to take the proper legal steps and ensure that the abuse is documented and addressed.
We are not looking to create unnecessary public drama or harass anyone. We genuinely need advice from people who have experience with Bengaluru’s women’s support organisations, legal services, or domestic violence procedures.
If you have personally worked with a reliable NGO, lawyer, or support organisation, please share your recommendations or explain how we can approach them.
We would be extremely grateful for any genuine guidance. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Adoption Request Bangalore Dog Adoption Appeal

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi, we found this dog tied to a pole abandoned near Ulsoor Lake. We don't know of his vaccination/ deworming status. He is friendly and immediately let us rescue him. He has been dropped off at a veterinary hospital's boarding facility as per advice of a rescue group we contacted. He is not sterilised. We are currently taking care of his boarding expenses. We are looking for foster parents or adoption in permanent homes as soon as possible. We will be verifying and making sure he goes to a loving and most importantly safe home. Please DM to get in touch. Thank you!
