I bought this painting and was wondering if anyone could help me translate the text, and find the artist. Any thoughts on value would be awesome, getting it framed to hang this week!
It’s roughly 28x28
Any insights on the painting and symbolism is also appreciated. Curious why the gap on his middle tooth is so large?
Reposting with better image of seal

I'm interested in how people research traditional techniques, find materials, learn from artisans, and adapt craft knowledge to their own creative work. What resources have helped you, and what difficulties have you encountered?

I’d appreciate any help with identifying the artist who made this painting. Thanks in advance.

This was given to me by a friend clearing out her mother's house. They were quite rich, and collectors with many beautiful pieces, so I'm sure it's not tourist stuff, but I have no info. It's painted porcelain and looks like perhaps it held a candle behind. Any info appreciated.

Hi everyone, I photographed this vessel and I m trying to understand its iconography better.
I already know that the prominent mask is a taotie (gluttonous ogre mask), and I understand the general function of the handles. However, I am struggling to identify the specific smaller symbols/patterns carved on the body of the vessel.
Could anyone help me interpret what these specific motifs represent in the context of Shang/Zhou ritual bronzes and jades? How do they relate to the vessel's ritual function?
Any academic references or explanations would be greatly appreciated!

Hi All
My father like to collect some art and he is kind of obsessed with it. A lot of them aren’t genuine and recently he made with this group that offer him authentication for his vase.
For me it looks like a very elaborate scam but I want to also ask second opinion if anyone know anything about this kind of scam or if you can point me to the correct direction if this is not the correct subreddit for it.
I can also provide more pictures of the item and the correspondence. The company said they are based in Malaysia and have office in Indonesia their name is Baronce in their social media handle.
Thank you

I’m trying to identify the artist and time of an old hanging scroll.

Hi All,
I wonder if you can help out not for me but for my uncle's passion on making a video about 'Fashion' as we call it now but in ancient times. I am not into history or archaeology or anything like that but I do want to help out for my uncle's youtube video which he spent so much time making it and hoping that some people can show some appreciation or even constructive criticism/ comments on his work. It is quite long but I would hope that someone can be interested in taking a 5-10 min to see what you all think about it. I have attached the link here: https://youtu.be/45Jrrx58rc4?si=UdhbsNNCa8srY268
thank you so much

I bought this scroll in 2012 in Fujian while visiting the Tulou. I bought it at what looked like a yard sale or estate sale where they were selling everything out of one of the apartments. It’s about 3.5 meters long.
I always assumed it wasn’t worth too much because I got it for around $50 and everything else being sold looked pretty modest but figured I’d check.
Edit- reposted to include more close ups of the red seals.

These paintings belonged to my grandparents, then my parents. Now, they hang on my walls. Besides that, I know nothing about them. I'm hoping that someone here could tell me something, anything, about these.

My family has had this painting for around 30 years. Doing some research online I found an artist called He Xuren who has similar works. Could I get a more accurate translation and perhaps identification of the painting.

Hi everyone,
I recently came into possession of this Chinese painting on paper. It was brought from China several years ago, and I was told at the time that it was very old. Unfortunately, I don't have any provenance or documentation.
The painting depicts flowers and an insect and has a Chinese inscription that appears to read 寄萍 (Jiping), along with a red seal.
I noticed that 寄萍 was used as a hao by Qi Baishi (齐白石), and some of his documented works use inscriptions such as 寄萍老人. The subject matter also reminded me of his flower-and-insect paintings.
I am NOT assuming this is a Qi Baishi original — I'm trying to find out whether the signature and seal are actually consistent with his work, or whether this is more likely a copy/reproduction.
I've included photos of:
°the full painting
°the signature
°the red seal
°the reverse of the paper
Does anyone here have experience with Qi Baishi signatures/seals or Chinese paintings and could give me some pointers?
Any thoughts on the approximate period, whether this appears hand-painted or printed, and what I should look for to authenticate it would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I was gifted this painting by an affluent family I had the pleasure of meeting in Dalian back in 2018. I know the auspicious message roughly translates to “good luck in your future endeavors.” I just am not having any luck trying to find the artists name.
The only thing I see that may be a signature is the red seal here. Can anyone help me identify this artist?
Thank you!
