Discussion Okay. I hate this gradient.

I just hate this gradient in the bar. I used to hate in Windows 98 (the only thing I hated in 98's UI) and I still hate it in 2026.

I believe elements in interfaces should be consistent. Gradient in big bars don't help with that because each place you look you see a different colour. Windows 98 had, at least, consistently grey outlines around it.

I can understand that now less is better in some things. So outlines aren't fashion currently. Okay. But at least let's do bar more clearly visible in other ways, making it in a single colour, or single pattern that doesn't change drastically along its length, for example.

Plus: it looks like a black object at a wrongly angled old monitor. Some Firefox users are still using old displays or even new but bad displays that change colour drastically if you look it at few degrees angle; or even when you look too close, so the edges naturally become at the wrong angle. ...and some ppl HAVE to look very close once their eyes are not so good. Having inconsistent elements in the interface makes this task all more difficult.

I love Firefox. Don't take it personal. Nobody is obligated to know other people's experiences. But here is mine. Not everyone is annoying enough as me to put it in words. :) But I doubt I'm the one having this opinion. So I hope it can be taken seriously.

πŸ’» Help "Close" button on tabs?? Where has it gone?

I used to be able to close tabs using a the standard little "x" icon on each tab. Now its gone.

That means I have to click on the tab to close it.

That means I have to wait until the page is entirely reloaded.

On a cellular internet connection - or any connection that isn't always highspeed - that's a real pain in the ass.

WTF, Firefox?

Discussion how's ad blockers in firefox now?

i just saw the go back campaign and it was nostalgic indeed. currently my main is brave because of the automatic ad blocking. i'd like to know if firefox now has the same function. its the only thing i like from brave. firefox is my backup if some sites wont load. also the page source is easier on brave, like in chrome, so i can get images from the website for editorial use. i dont remember firefox allowing for such function with their tools.

πŸ’» Help Is there a definitive list of things to do to fix Firefoxes long standing laggy video issues? I can see posts running consistently for 4 years now.

I am on Windows 11, PC with 80GB Ram (truth).

Firefox has the laggiest video across not only Youtube, but streaming sites. It's sometimes a 5 second delay, often 12 and I've waited 24 seconds on some sites. This does not happen on Edge, Chrome----I switched to firefox for good reasons but I'm at a point that work is slowed down If video is so inconsistent.

I did have it working once ---lots of turn this on, turn this off, about config stuff but firefox--in one of it's routine updates blew ALL My configs out of the water, didn't honor my save settings during the update and here I am back at zero.

What is the top list of things to do that will mostly likely guarantee a sound video experience

On no other browser I've used have I had to toggle hardware acceleration off? on? turn my ad protection off, clear my cache weekly? These routinized hoops to make it work suck.

I want set and forget----

again clearing a browser cache has not been an issue with any other browers to assure performance, not for me in 8-10 years.

I recall it was off for a long time before, but this button came back recently with Nova. Is there an about:config flag to hide it? Or is this something that I need CSS to deal with?

πŸ’» Help Anyone got a good non-AI Auto Translate?

I'm aware mozilla has its own auto-translate built in, but...I'm gonna be honest with you all, it's almost as bad as the rolling backwards google translate that's become measurably worse as of late.

Anyone got an extension, or know of a means of auto-translating pages that doesn't rely on AI?

how do i fix this

im getting ragebaited by this either premium or firefox feature and i genuinely can't figure out how to fix or turn it off, when i skip forward in a video itll do this red pill skip animation, and then my media controls will disappear entirely

if i switch to chrome on the same account with premium, it works, and if i switch to a private browser it works but the pill thing doesn't pop up at all.

πŸ’» Help Is there a way to permanently remove the Nova look?

Since the Nova disable toggle is apparently getting removed soon, for whatever reason, is there a way to keep it removed without having to switch to another browser fork? Frankly, it's one of the ugliest designs I've seen in a browser, and I would like to keep it as the legacy look without needing to switch to either the ESR or a fork like Waterfox.

πŸ’» Help firefox crashing when using proton vpn

This has been going on for a few months now and its making want to switch back to chrome. Theres about a 20% chance when connecting to proton vpn that firefox will buffer and stall (forever) until i close and reopen it which makes the pop up appear "an instance is already open do you want to close" and so i have to close it on that pop up before opening it again. Then sometimes it works but other times all my tabs are blank and gone and dont appear in history so they are just gone.

I live in the UK so i kinda have to use a vpn for a good amount of sites. Is this just an issue between firefox and proton or is there something i can do to fix it?

How do I view website certificate on the latest version?

Clicking the shield icon used to bring Site information window and View Certificate option. Now clicking it does nothing and just show the cert is verified, no option to view certificate.

Solved Weird missing buttons.

Anybody else have their Reddit sorting buttons go missing from the front page? Mine are gone, but they are on sub front pages. If I load up chrome(horror) the buttons are there. I have not changed any of my extensions, and I just wiped my history in case it was getting corrupted somehow.

Thoughts?

πŸ’» Help is there a way to open multiple tabs without loading the sites?

If one keeps the tabs in a session and closes and reopen the browser, firefox will not contact and download those sites until the user opens the specific tab.

But if the sites are saved in bookmarks or history, and the user opens multiple, the sites will load. This will often cause a 429 error because sites don't wanna be bombarded by requests, rightly so.

So, is there a way to put bookmarked sites into the tab bar but without loading the sites?

πŸ’» Help Severe Keyboard Lag on Reddit

Whenever I'm on Reddit on the desktop, typing into the comments field or the body of this posts is very difficult because the UI and cursor are about 0.25-0.5 seconds behind my actual keystrokes. Oddly enough, I can type into the title of this post with no lag, but the body is very laggy. Switching to markdown mode does seem to fix the lag, but I like to be able to format text, generally.

This seems to have started within the last week or so. I'm running FireFox 159 on Windows 26H2. Installed extensions are UBlock Origin, iCloud Passwords, and iCloud Bookmarks.

Audio video desync on YouTube

This bug was supposedly fixed in version 157, but even in 158, it's still present. Maybe the desync isn't as severe as it used to be, like it used to be multi second, it's lesser now, but still there.

Chromium doesn't have this issue.

There are multiple bug reports about this, yet, no fixes.

Mozilla, you got to add the ui you wanted and force it down our throats, now fix the damn browser.

Was playing ark when I noticed a popup window appear for a couple seconds. I checked task manager but didn’t see anything suspicious and windows defender didn’t find anything, after I was done gaming I tried opening Firefox and got a message saying it’s corrupted and unreadable. I’ve been using Firefox for a couple years and never encountered this, I’m just wondering if anyone else had this issue before. I’ve Already reinstalled
