First Time Grower I’ve wanted this since I was 13

I grew my first plant when I was 13 with a tin foil lined cardboard box, a pc fan, and a led lamp. My parents made me throw it away and I’ve wanted to grow ever since. 15 years later and no longer a stoner I’ve decided there’s no better time than now. Very excited to learn and master the art.

Was going to buy an AC Infinity setup but they only had the compact tents available so I chose a Vivosun 3x3x6 w/ the 320W Lumalight. So far all my Vivosun products seem decent enough but time will tell.

For my first grow I chose a Mephisto Genetics auto in Happy Frog soil. I’ll be using CalMag, Cronk’s Auto Nutrients, and Recharge. Once I master this medium I’ll probably move to coco. I’m very thankful for this subreddit and its vast supply of information & knowledge. Will post updates on first grow once I make some progress, seedling just touched soil 24 hours ago.

Love seeing the little fingers of life poke through the rooters. Always so cool that you can lop off a branch, stick it in a hole for a week and bam, little baby plant is made.

Humboldt Seed Co. GMintz x Cheese Danish freebie. 3 Gallon bag. Soil/Pearlite Lotus Grow Nutrients hand watered at like 1/5 strength. 38 days since I planted the seed.

I topped this plant yesterday above the second set of full fan leaves and Im planning to top one more time if it doesn’t get too tall. I just wanted to show off the huge leaves. So far so good. I’m trying to Keep it simple this time. The stalk is getting nice and fat too.

Discussion Be honest, what are your drying conditions?

I’m in California, and I can’t get a room or tent down to 60°F for 2 weeks without feeling like I’m about to have a thousand dollar electric bill. And everybody doesn’t have a VCure or Cannatrol, so I’m curious what the rest of us are really drying at.

I can consistently get my tent to around 68–72°F for about a 10-day dry at 50–60% humidity, but then the tent’s unusable and I’m still not even hitting ideal temps.

I recently added a portable AC to my lung room, so I can hopefully dry straight in the room and keep the tent going straight into the next run, or get the temps closer to 62–64°F if I put the AC in the tent. I’m wondering what temps I should realistically be chasing in either situation.

Drop your actual temps/humidity + dry time, and whether or not you’re happy with the outcome. No judgment 😂

Help My Sick Plant Start week 7: how am I fucking it up rn? Can I fix it and how? Thanks

Hey man. Currently start w7, and I have been fucking up for a while. Before I get to my hypothesis, this is my current setup in week 7:

Spiderfarmer autowatering setup, EC 1.7 (incl. tap water of EC 0.7 mixed with soft water), pH 6.3, DLI ~40, ~50 RH, ~25°C, Biobizz Lightmix, and Canna Terra/Canna pH down flower. Might there be anything immediate wrong with these metrics? Also, is it not a tad small? This is Serious Seeds' AK-47, so this is for sure a me-problem and not a genetic issue.

My hypothesis: until mid week 5, I thought that Biobiz Lightmix was coco- and not peat-based, so I have been using Canna Coco fertilizer and keeeping the pH around 5.8-6. After realizing, I emptied the water system, flushed with tapwater, and started using Canna Terra, adjusting pH to ~6.3, etc. Might this have caused irreversible damage?

Thus smarter, looking forward to learning more. Thanks ✌️

First Time Grower Advice needed on my first grow.

Thumbnail

The first three images are the first plant. The last four images are the second plant.
I’ve temporarily misplaced the information tags for these two, but I know the first one is called blueberry muffin. The second one had a short name something like…Zha.

My question on the first one is if it’s ready to harvest. I’ve tried looking at it closely to see the color of the sparkles, but my eyes even with magnification help, aren’t what they used to be.

With the second plant, I’m not sure what more I can do with this one because it just doesn’t seem to be growing that well. It did get a late start.

What I have going for me is I’m in Northern California and I can probably give each of these another week, maybe even longer.
The strange growing set up I have enables me to protect the plants from predators and more importantly, chase the sun throughout the day.

Lastly, I have zero growing instincts. I struggle to keep house plants alive, even the hard to kill varieties. So I’m actually really proud of myself that they’ve come this far.
Any advice on how to proceed with these two is much appreciated.

Question Drying in a grow tent – can the extraction system cause it to dry too quickly? need advice from an experienced grower

Hello, I harvested 6 days ago, and the smaller buds seem to be ready. I’ve placed them in my 120x120 grow tent with only the exhaust system running—no circulation fan. The temperature is 18°C and the humidity is around 60%. Do you think it’s too soon for them to be this dry already? How do you handle the exhaust? I know that having a fan blowing directly on the drying plants isn't good, but I’m not sure about the exhaust—there’s no direct airflow hitting them, but do you think the extraction might be too strong? How do you guys manage this?

Question Weather permitting?

Is there theoretically any reason I shouldnt just keep going until it drops too low? I have 2 outdoor plants I wanna harvest late as possible, and 1 outdoor clone I wanna veg to get more clones. The lowest is 57f next Wednesday in new york which is kind of insane no? I feel like it's so much warmer than it should be and I was honestly expecting to need to harvest soon, but if it means I can grow more thats good right?

After a few years of growing outdoors I decided to pull out my grow tent and set it up, found out the light was no good so I ended up buying a 180w vivosun aero light(I know, I know, mixed reviews) but my seedling was ready for transplanting and it was one of the fastest I could get from A.

Bubblegum Auto

2.7 x 2.7 x 60 tent

5 gallon fabric pot

Foxfarm Ocean Forest / Trio nutes pack

18 hr light cycle

Water cycle: Distilled water - nutes feeding + distilled water - distilled water cycling every 2-3 days

Average temps 83 with the light on, 76 with it off

Average humidity staying between 46-50%

Day 23

Feel free to critic.

Question What next?

Second-“ish” time grower. My first grow was with some dwc buckets I got from a friend. Waaaay too much for me to keep up with the nutrient, ph, and what not….. as for this grow, I’ve read plenty of posts, watched tons of videos and gained some knowledge. Switched to FF happy frog soil and did some low stress training on these and that shit was terrifying doing it for the first time trying not to mess anything up. Fast forward and I think I did right. Now what next? I’m thinking defoliation?

Any and all comments welcome….. even the bullshit bashing. All feedback is info for learning

FYI…. Genetics is Bangkok runtz (photo fem) from Heisenbeans/Seedlys. From seed to now 36 days

Question Is this foxtailing from light stress?

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

I thought these were almost done but I almost feel like there are new white hairs forming....I checked with my microscope and some parts of the buds have amber heads , but the calyxes with the white hairs don't.... I've never had a strain so this, and I do use a lot of light but I didn't think I was stressing it to foxtail... anyways let me know what you think

Question Has anyone tried any new lights they like?

I’m looking to get some lights and interested in real world reviews of stuff you bought new within the last few months, or something you just love in general that gets great results. Thanks 🙏
