Just for fun, let's compare the oldest entry in the franchise to the newest. Which game do you think is better overall and why? What do you think RE1 does better than RE9 and vice-versa?

General first time trying to survive resident evil fandom (failed)

sorry I just wanted to rant because some of you guys are CRAZYYY holy shit, I’ve been playing the games for a while but never really engaged with the fandom, but when I finally did I was pretty much immediately hit with the “female gooner larp who thinks she is a fan because she watched one leon kennedy edit ahahahah” like hello??

this is basically the wording of a comment i got after saying i loved re4r, and then people wouldn’t stop with the whole “remakes dont count this makes you a larp!! never even touched an original game lol larp” which i just dont understand because 1) i love the og games as well as the remakes god forbid i just enjoy playing re games and 2) so what if i only liked remakes why does everyone have like a superiority complex about it??

this is genuinely insane to me because i’m not saying there aren’t other crazy fandoms because ofc there are, but someone please tell me why the resident evil fandom, or at least the part ive interacted with so far, is mainly just miserable misogynistic people who want you to dedicate every second of your life to the games (but only certain games or else you are a larp!! (you guys seriously love saying larp btw..)) before you even deserve the title of a “fan”…..i have faith in other people to be nice but seriously this has got to be the worst first impression of a fandom i’ve ever had.

Forum question Were players confused by Resident Evil 4 at launch?

Something I’ve thought about before is how did players “discover” that Re4 would be different in its goals when it came to gameplay? For the first few games of the franchise, it was a survival horror game that, while having a lot of action and a focus on killing enemies, it still incentivised skirting around them and saving resources.

Now if you were to pick up RE4 randomly at launch after playing the entire series up until this point, did you end up playing the game “wrong” for a little bit until realising what was going on? As in, how long did it take you to figure out you’re supposed to kill everything and be rewarded for it rather than try and save resources.

I started the franchise with RE5 at launch so of course I was aware of the gameplay loop and it’s common knowledge now that RE4 is an action horror game, but if you weren’t up to date reading gaming magazines at the time did it take players a while to acclimate to what the game wanted them to do?

Edit: I should emphasise where I said if you weren’t up to date on coverage of the game. If you were to play the game mostly blind after being a fan of the franchise

General Just finished RE7, it was... okay

Having played RE2/3/4 Remakes and RE9, I've decided to go for the two FPS entries, which I heard at least one of them saved the franchise after RE6 (which doesn't interest me at all to be honest).

So I went for RE7, the scariest one apparently, and that I can confirm, holy SHIT this game is scary, I genuinely jumped off my chair at least 20 times during my playthrough.

Let's start with what I liked :

The house is CRAZY scary and immersive, at every corner, every door, every stair I had to pause for a few seconds just to prepare, every fucking room and hallway is scarier than the last one. The sound design is a 10/10, so many realistic noises, sometimes I wondered if it was actually from in-game or from my apartment.

The story is pretty good too, it's a bit of a departure from the completely batshit crazy scenarios of the ones I played before and it was a breath of fresh air, it's more focused, more personal.

So the first half of the game is really really good and fucking scary as hell, a very promising premisce.

...now onto what I didn't like

The enemy variety is abysmal, like what the fuck, how can you downgrade SO MUCH from you previous games, there's like, 2 enemies ? The normal glue guy, and the crawling glue guy, and that's it. I won't consider the bugs that are in only one area and that you can one shot with a knife as an enemy type to be honest. Basically play the game for 3 hours and you've seen it all, that's it, there won't be any surprise anymore on that department, which is kind of shocking to me for a game released in 2017. And I found these monsters to be not as scary as straight up zombies/possessed people, while the family made me shit bricks, these I couldn't care less after the first few I've encoutered.

The saferoom music is kinda meh too, and it's so important to me that it needs to be pointed out.

And now let's talk about the true bad part of the game : Everything after the Old House.

After the Margareth fight, you just go to places you've already been in in the main house, or some very anecdotic ones, to get two keycards. Then this is followed by a puzzle that's spoiled for you in a very long videotape, orchestrated by a very uninteresting antagonist (Lucas). Then this is followed by the fucking ship, which 100% deserves its reputation, what the fuck was that, I HATED every second of this, hopefully there were some flashbacks here and there that explained the story and made it interesting. And then the salt tunnels which again are boring as fuck, tedious and completely obliterate the tone the game had until now.

So basically, you have the first 50-60% of the game that are really really good and completely fulfill their goals, followed by 30-40% of what I would unfortunately call dogshit.

I saw a lot of people naming this game as their favourite RE game, or top 3, I honestly don't see how that's possible considering that second half. Sure the game is scary as hell and if you're a fan of the horror-genre this is definitely the one, but as a whole game, as a product ? Hell nah, especially when RE2, RE4 and RE9 exist.

Now I gotta go for RE8, can't wait to see what's in store.

I'd give RE7 a 7/10.

General Should You Buy Resident Evil 2 Remake In 2026

Post image

I’ve always wanted to get into a Resident Evil game. I’ve seen people playing the series for years, but I never really understood the hype because I wasn’t into horror games at the time.
After finally playing the Resident Evil 2 remake, I can confidently say that I really enjoyed it. I’d give the game a solid 9.2/10.
Don’t worry, though. This review will be spoiler-free. I’ll discuss the good and bad aspects of the game without ruining the experience for anyone who hasn’t played it yet.
Leon’s Campaign
Resident Evil 2 takes place in Raccoon City and features two main campaigns: Leon’s and Claire’s. Each campaign gives you a different perspective on the events of the game.
Leon Kennedy’s campaign was incredibly fun. Throughout his journey, you encounter memorable characters, including Ada Wong. Her dynamic with Leon was particularly enjoyable, and I thought their interactions added a lot to the experience.
The graphics were also amazing. Even in 2026, the game’s visuals impressed me and helped make the experience more immersive.
However, if you’re not a fan of puzzles, this game might not immediately appeal to you. That said, if you’re interested in Resident Evil 2 despite not being a puzzle person, I’d still recommend giving it a chance.
The puzzles aren’t overly confusing, although you can occasionally get lost while exploring certain areas. I found myself getting lost a few times, but the payoff was worth it.
The characters are memorable, and Leon’s campaign was a fantastic experience overall. I’d give his campaign a solid 9.3/10.
Claire’s Campaign
Now, let’s talk about Claire Redfield’s campaign.
Claire arrives in Raccoon City searching for her brother. As the story progresses, she and Leon go their separate ways, allowing you to experience the events from their individual perspectives.
Claire’s journey also involves Sherry Birkin, a young girl caught up in the chaos surrounding Raccoon City. I won’t go into any more detail because I want to keep this review spoiler-free.
Just like Leon’s campaign, Claire’s story was an excellent experience. Both campaigns were enjoyable, and I liked getting to experience the game through two different characters.
I’d give Claire’s campaign a solid 9.2/10.
Final Thoughts So Far
Overall, the Resident Evil 2 remake was an amazing experience for me. As someone who wasn’t particularly interested in horror games before playing it, I’m glad I finally gave the series a chance.
Both campaigns were enjoyable, the characters were memorable, and the graphics impressed me. Although the puzzles and exploration might occasionally leave you feeling lost, I found the experience rewarding.
With an overall rating of 9.2/10, Resident Evil 2 has made a great impression on me.

Forum question Would Carlos Oliveira and Sheva Alomar be a possibly good duo in a future game?

Carlos and Sheva have insane potential but they only appeared in 1 game each, could pairing them up result in a nice flow between them? or will it be like re5 but worse? (I personally really liked re5) what y'all think??

General As good as the RE2/3 remakes are, I wish we also got version that were more in-line with the remake of the Original.

It is great fun to play these games as over-the-shoulder shooters is a lot of fun, but I think it kind of misses something in not maintaining the tank controls, fixed camera angles, and harder gameplay. I’m great at shooters. Everyone is. They’ve been some of the biggest games since the 90’s. But for the sake of preservation, I would really like to play an RE2/RE3 remake that keeps all the “dated” aspects.

It appears as if Marvin was playing some FNAF 2 or 3 on steam maybe on his laptop. Was he pissed Leon interrupted his gameplay? How did he have access to FNAF in 1998? There’s so many greater implications here. This could really impact the community.

Forum question How the heck did RPD function as a police station?

I'm not going to lie. The layout of RPD frustrates me everyday as a writer. I understand it in game play sense but like how did it run as an actual police station?

Most rooms are like "Yeah, that room makes sense and the purpose is right there in the name."

But like where do people who are arrested get processed, finger printed, etc? Is it in the jail area? The offices? The operations room?

I might need a little help since I can't find anything about the rooms before the Outbreak.

General I was lied too! Spoiler

I will mark this with a spoiler as some people do not either have gamepass or cannot play it because they don't want to spend money on it.

Resident evil 3 is actually really fun when i was going to play it i was told that remake of 2 which is the first game that i have played in the RE franchise and this will be my second i was told resident evil 3 is complete garbage.
In my humble opinion that is a lie and this game is real cinema i might not know a whole lot of lore but i can say this game is fun i am at the part where i am in the sewers those little big sewer fish are not that scary i can't lie.

Now does this mean the game is perfect no i might think it is cinema but other people will bring up a bunch of things to deny it and so i want to bring up some things i have seen from youtubers and fans.

The zombies don't die to the surroundings i don't know how to word it but when they "die" and they fall over in re2 they land on objects as physics this game they do not do that people also point out that the bodies disappear unlike in re2 where they actually don't, And i just wanna say well maybe they make them disappear because they don't want to have resources going to making sure that not zombies bodies are just there.

All in all the game is fun so far is there anything i should know also nemesis probably the best part

Biohazard or village which should i play after this game?

Meme Monday The most underrated element in the masterpiece that is the original RE4

I listen to this track and I'm brought back to the different stages of life in which I've played this particular game.

After watching gameplays for what felt like forever in the mind of a young kid, my grandmother finally bought me a copy for the PS2 and what followed was countless nights in front of a CRT TV, trapped in that addictive gameplay and caught in that carefully crafted atmosphere of the village, castle and island.

Nowadays I play it looking back at a time when my only worry was unlocking the Chicago Typewriter.

This game means a lot to me, and this track is the door that always brings me back to it.

Anyway, do you have any special memories linked to this track/game? I'd loove to know c:

Forum question Original re2 and re3

These games are on sale rn on steam. i want to buy them but I never beat re0 and never played re1 bc I don't like tank controls, fixed cameras, or ink ribbons. Ik now re2 and re3 have those as well but I heard they are better games all around. Should I give re2 and re3 a chance or will I probably not like them given my experience with re0?

Edit: I decided to give them a chance

Gameplay question Help on RE1?

I tried to play re1 (remake) but I just can’t. It’s probably just me not being good with older games but I only got as far as this room with a guaranteed death trap, a mirror or spikes or something that come towards you early in the game but I couldn’t find a way to stop them, shooting did nothing and I couldn’t get out of the tiny corridor so it was just death. I didn’t save because I expected some form of auto save so I lost all my progress which was at least half an hour so I’ve had a hard time wanting to return.

I might give it another try but it genuinely feels like trying to play Dark Souls 1 for the first time when you know nothing about Souls games so it feels like it’s not meant to be beaten. I’d love any advice to make the game a breeze, any early secrets or just ways to get to a comfortable point?

Lore question Adam Benford and Leon Kennedy

I’m new to Resident Evil, and I was looking up why Leon was recruited into the DSO, but it says that he was actually coerced by Adam Benford under the threat of Claire Redfield’s and Sherry Birkin’s incarceration and experimentation. Is this mentioned in a video game?

General My favorite resident evil game

I feel like this is definitely going to be a hot take with all the die hard RE2/RE4 remake fans in here, and I agree those games are incredible, but after playing every single resident evil game *thoroughly* , there is one I constantly return to, Resident Evil Revelations 2. I have done every single achievement/trophy for this game on FIVE different accounts (done on 2 of my own accounts, and for 3 friends) including invisible and countdown modes (obviously) finished survival mode with all S and A ranks, and now working through a playthrough on No Escape difficulty right now (all A ranks so far) and man I fucking love every single thing about this game. The gunplay and evade mechanics, the story, the atmosphere, the upgrade system, and just every single thing about it. It never gets old for me. I will die on the hill that this is the BEST resident evil game. Subjective of course. Does anyone else in here feel the same way?
