r/residentevil community hey, reddit! chandler riggs here! AMA this friday!
hello, r/residentevil! i'm chandler riggs - best known for my 8-year run on The Walking Dead as Carl - but i've since gotten behind the camera and have started writing, directing, producing, editing, etc.
i just released my short fan film for Resident Evil 7 titled BIOHAZARD! it's out now on youtube, here's a link to watch. i also did an exclusive interview with IGN, found here!
not like you all need a synopsis for this, but just because it's the AMA thing to do...
Ethan Winters, while searching for his missing wife, finds himself trapped by the Baker family - a deadly, unstoppable force driven to violence under the influence of a mysterious infection...
there are a few things i changed from how that sequence went in the game, so i'm sure you've got questions. i'm also a huge gamer outside of filmmaking, so please feel free to ask me whatever you like!
i'll be back on Friday, 10/16 @ 12p PT to answer your questions! thanks so much for having me here, hope you all enjoy the short!
edit: alright folks, that's all i have time for. thanks so much for your questions! i had a blast getting to dive deep with yall and give some insight on how we made this happen. thanks for watching the short!! see yall around :)

General "Yeah guys lets remove item boxes and then add a item cap for every room to make it even more annoying for the player"
Seriously what were they thinking with this game and to top it off they made most weapons take TWO slots for a already limited inventory.

Meme Monday Is Marvin playing five nights at freddy’s?
It appears as if Marvin was playing some FNAF 2 or 3 on steam maybe on his laptop. Was he pissed Leon interrupted his gameplay? How did he have access to FNAF in 1998? There’s so many greater implications here. This could really impact the community.

General Code Veronica was amazing
Just my thoughts on the game as I just beat it. It’s my fav of the marathon I’m doing so far.
The island and Antarctic base were pretty great areas. I liked how different they were when you played as Chris the second time around, and just the overall progression of the levels. It was nice getting a snow level tho(kinda)
The puzzles were a big step up from the previous games(og 1-3), I found I never really had any issues with em and they weren’t frustrating either. I think they balanced out the action/backtracking/puzzles quite well even if there weren’t too many traditional puzzles yk?
Enemy variety was fine. The zombies were good as always, the spiders showed up like twice and were okay but a bit too tanky imo, however the hunters were great. I liked seeing them return and how they were mixed with the little robot things, fuck the poison ones tho. Oh and the bandersnatches were annoying but that’s mainly due to the movement system. They were fine otherwise. Fuck the moths tho
The bosses were pretty decent. Nosferatu and the worm was great, alexia 1 was really good, the spider was cool if a bit easy, and Steve was a great moment. The tyrant would be good if the arena was bigger, and if he wasn’t piss easy with bow rounds, the albinoid is a cool boss but I just grabbed the thing and ran so it wasn’t really a fight, and Alexia 2/3 is awful. I have never hated a final boss more than that final fight in an re game.
I liked the story, I think this was my fav Wesker appearance from what I remember of the games he was in. Alexia/alfred were the best antagonists of the og games(re1-code v)imo, Steve while annoying was better as the game went on, and this game made me appreciate Chris a lot more. The Veronica virus was very interesting and the ashfords were a really interesting piece of the lore. It was also cool that the island was where hunk was trained. Some moments were silly, like Steve fucking up the gas because he was staring at Claire, but most of the game was fine tone wise when it came to characters.

General As good as the RE2/3 remakes are, I wish we also got version that were more in-line with the remake of the Original.
It is great fun to play these games as over-the-shoulder shooters is a lot of fun, but I think it kind of misses something in not maintaining the tank controls, fixed camera angles, and harder gameplay. I’m great at shooters. Everyone is. They’ve been some of the biggest games since the 90’s. But for the sake of preservation, I would really like to play an RE2/RE3 remake that keeps all the “dated” aspects.
