Fan labor/Art/Cosplay [OC] I made a fully native port of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS and more
Hey everyone!
I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on: recvx-native.
It’s a fully native port of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, built upon the original decompilation work by AshfordFamily.
The goal was to get the game running natively across modern platforms without relying on emulation. No PS2 functions reused or hardware emulated, every blind spot was reverse engineered.
Currently, the project supports building native versions for:
- Windows (x64 and ARM64)
- Linux
- macOS
- iOS / iPadOS
- Apple TV
I’ve also added a few optional features, including modern upscalers, frame generation, CRT filters, and even an experimental “Let the AI play” mode, which can be pretty fun to watch if you have the hardware to run it.
Important: This project does not include any copyrighted game assets. You need to own a copy of the original game and provide your own game dump.
This has been a pretty big personal project, and I thought some of you might find it interesting, especially those into classic Resident Evil games, preservation, or native ports.
I’d love to hear your thoughts or feedback!
And if you happen to know any other communities where this kind of project would be appreciated, I’d be grateful for suggestions.

For the mods Rule 4, no additional credits as this is my own work.

Product question What version of OG RE1 do I play on PS1?
It and 6 are the only mainline RE game I've never played. My understanding is there's 3 version:
- the original without aim assist
- a director's cut
- another director's cut but with fucked up music
Is that right?
Option 1 is out, because I tried it and couldn't get past the very first dog hallway. It's fucking impossible to reliably tell where you're pointing your gun with the tank controls, and I missed every shot, and got filtered. Skill issue? Maybe, but fuck it.
So I guess my question is do I want the one with the fucked up music or not, and how do I tell which is which?

Fan labor/Art/Cosplay [By me] RE2 Save Room (Model Screen) Replaced Mod
Hello everyone!
I've always felt that the Model Screen theme in Resident Evil 2 Remake is incredibly relaxing and actually fits the vibe of a safe room even better than the default track. I really wanted to hear it organically while taking a breather and managing my inventory.
To make this happen, I spent the last few months working on a mod called Save Room (Model Screen) Replaced.
What it does:
- Replaces the game's default ambient music in safe zones with the Model Screen theme.
- Features a custom seamless loop, so you can stay in the safe room as long as you want without any awkward silences or abrupt audio cuts.
- Fades in and out naturally as you cross the room's threshold, keeping the immersive survival horror atmosphere completely intact.
I just wanted to share this with the community in case anyone else loves this track as much as I do and wants a fresh atmosphere for their safe rooms.
If you decide to try it out, I would love to hear your feedback! And if you find it enjoyable, an Endorsement on Nexus Mods would mean the world to help other players find it.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the game!

Fan labor/Art/Cosplay [By me] RE9 LS Zoom Restored Mod
Hello everyone!
I personally felt that losing the classic zoom functionality when switching control schemes in Resident Evil 9 took away a bit of the control we are used to. If you play using the Custom A or Custom B layouts, you've probably noticed that the LS zoom just disappears (unlike the default layout where it still works fine).
To solve this, I created a quality-of-life mod called RE9 LS Zoom Restored.
What it does:
Restores the ability to zoom the camera using LS specifically for players using the Custom A or Custom B control schemes.
Integrates seamlessly with the game's native camera system, ensuring the zoom feels natural and responsive without conflicting with your custom inputs.
Provides a simple but essential quality-of-life improvement that makes navigating and aiming much more comfortable if you prefer not to use the default layout.
I just wanted to share this with the community in case anyone else out there missed this feature and was looking for a way to get it back while keeping their preferred controls.
If you decide to try it out, I would love to hear your feedback or suggestions! And if you find it useful, an Endorsement on Nexus Mods would mean the world to help other players find it.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the game!

Forum question Reccomedation for first game of the ones who are on sale?
I really wanna try and see if I can like any of the Resi games. I really enjoy watching playthroughs, but I've always struggled with resource management. My favourites to watch are 7, 8 and 2 remake, so I think I'd like to start with one of them, but I have not seen anything of 4, so it would be interesting to also go in blind to one of the games. I just wanna know which is a little more lenient on ammo and healing items

Gameplay question Need help with the reticle in re4 remake
I can’t tell if I’m having a blatant skill issue or if the reticle lies in this game, I’m sitting at the shooting range and it would be dead on on, not focused but the reticle is covering 90% of the target and still misses, am I doing something wrong or is this just how it is?

Fan labor/Art/Cosplay Making a Hunk Game, Need Opinions on Gameplay Loop
⚠️RE9 Spoilers⚠️
Im making a 2D game where you play as the Commander (Hunk) after his altercation with Leon although I'm having difficulty choosing an approach for the gameplay loop.
Option A (Only Run and Gun):
This approach could be just about escaping ARK to the surface of Raccoon City before it collapses. The player would be constantly running and gunning like the RE2 4th survivor mode.
Option B (Tactical Stealth Survival Horror):
This approach could have Hunk navigate a collapsed(sort of) ARK facility after taking shelter in a secure room. Hunk would then have to navigate ARK to retrieve a sample of Elpis (to cure himself) before extracting somewhere on the surface of Raccoon City. There would still be hectic run and gun sections with lots of zombies, however due to a much larger BSAA presence the player would have to take it slow and consider stealth/planning. (For example: 3 BSAA agents are standing guard in the next room, instead of risking damage by starting a firefight the player could crawl into the vents above the other room, drop a flashbang in, then drop down and eliminate everyone while they're stunned). Due to the slower pacing it could also allow for puzzles and the game would be alot longer.
I'm leaning towards Option B and have alot of ideas but I wanted to get you guys' thoughts aswell.

Forum question Original re2 and re3
These games are on sale rn on steam. i want to buy them but I never beat re0 and never played re1 bc I don't like tank controls, fixed cameras, or ink ribbons. Ik now re2 and re3 have those as well but I heard they are better games all around. Should I give re2 and re3 a chance or will I probably not like them given my experience with re0?
Edit: I decided to give them a chance

Forum question What other games do y'all play the most (not survival horror)?
So I'm new to Resident Evil, but in the last month have finished RE 4, watched the movie, played through the RE1-3 remakes, and am now playing Requiem.
This franchise has been a huge breath of fresh air for me by giving me new gameplay and scenarios I've never experienced. It's the first time in a WHILE I've really felt something when playing games and it's the first time I've ever played through this many games in a series back to back. They absorb my full attention and I'm way less likely to be checking my phone when playing. It's been really nice.
I think I've realized that it's the slow pace of the games - it allows me to look around and take in the great environments instead of feeling like I need to run through a story or even when I do play other games slowly, they aren't as rewarding.
I'm curious what games this community tends to enjoy outside of the RE world and broader horror genre. I figure maybe these games will have the pacing I'm looking for.
