Non stop this cute creature is climbing and falling. The fall isn’t far but it’s still falling and I’m not sure what to do or if I’m being overly worried:/ I just picked it up 2 days at a expo, and paid a hefty price for this 8 legged beauty and want to make sure it’s fine

It was crossing the road and I managed to take a pic before it made its way down a crevice. A man that walked by told another to squish it. I looked at him with hatred but neither noticed lol

EDIT: NOT A ROSEHAIR! Identified as Euathlus cf. manicatus

Sexing Am I crazy or does it look like my g rosea has bulbs on her pedipalps? 🥲

I know it’s not the best or easiest way to sex a tarantula but she just molted and it was shredded to oblivion. And she was sold to me as a confirmed female, but her pedipalps are looking bulb-ish at the end to me. What do you think!

Help! Currently feeding fruit flies

Post image
21 Upvotes

As the title says, I’m currently feeding my Uruguayan black beauty fruit flies. She gets fed twice a week right now she’s about the size of a quarter. I’m not sure what the next food would be and when do I introduce it? I tried a mealworm today and she ran from it.

I just can’t with people, so I’ve posted both here and in several groups on FB with the enclosure I’ve been making for my new Chaco Golden Knee.

I’ve posted pictures, I’ve talked with multiple people some within the last 24 hours. I’ve gotten multiple reassurance that my enclosure is good, that it’s been used and recommended by several, and there’s little to no issue with the mesh area on the door.

I post tonight a pic of the finished enclosure…and first post is someone jumping on me that the mesh is bad…😑😑😑😑

Like…just…ugh…

Pic of the finished setup…I was so excited to show it off too…now my confidence is null…

Help! Death curl or nah?

So I got a friend into tarantulas and we both bought some slings. One of hers(pictured) has apparently been sitting there for a bit now and won't move. She says it was active the other day, eating well and everything. They had molted(10/09) when we got them so I dont know if they'd molt this soon.

I told her to watch the baby and not to bother it in case this is just a molt. What do you guys think?

Videos / GIF Anyone else just have a goofy T that refuses to use pre-dug burrows?..

My G pulchra Quelaag insists on never using his cork bark with pre-dug spot for a burrow. Instead he digs in the corners. He’ll start with one get bored and dig the next until the middle of the enclosure is just a giant loose pile of substrate without a single burrow in sight.

Conversation Don’t worry so much over your tarantulas

I always see online posts about stressed out owners (especially newcomers) panicking over their T. And although it’s obviously great that you want to give ur babies the best life, a lot of the issues I see are really nothing to worry about. Tarantulas are VERY hardy pets, even when they’re slings as longs as u leave them alone and provide food and water. Ur tarantula won’t die if you overspray their enclosure ur tarantula most likely stay in that corner after a few days of being introduced to their new enclosure. Of course, I understand ur worries and it I love the fact that you can ask for help online and there will be so many wonderful people to help, but don’t let ur sling keep u up all night because of a stress problem that can solve itself

I’ve been lurking this sub ever since I got the idea to take care of a tarantula, and it’s been so helpful in preparing for her.

Tending to my darling Claire has become an absolute joy in my life.

I loved her the moment I bought her (big shoutout to Jamie of Jamie’s Tarantulas), as the G. Pulchra is my favorite T. I had to wait a few months for shipping because of the heat, but as soon as I finally met her, my heart melted.

Help! Avic enclosure

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m wondering if this is enough ventilation for an avic? It’s just the top and two sides, there isn’t any lower. Should I try and drill some extras? My others are terrestrial and I know Avicularia are more sensitive to stagnant air. There is a ceiling fan that’s always on high above this shelf.
