Politics Hopecore

Serbia has ended the rule of their authoritarian government today, thanks to their Gen Z led protests that started 2 years ago. Just like us.

Let this be hope that we can send the devil back to Sugoi. They ended a 12 year regime, so what's a 5 year term? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Casual Heartbroken over a talking stage I never even got to meet in person.

I made a reckless post on here while drunk, and he slid into my DMs cos of it. We flirted a little, exchanged contacts, and kept talking.Conversations with him felt so natural. Everything flowed effortlessly. We’d text until 3 a.m, talking about everything and nothing. I let him in on my problems, and he listened, offered his perspective, and made me feel understood. He let me in on his problems too, and somewhere along the way, I started feeling safe with him.
After a few days of talking, we noticed how complicated our circumstances were, and we mutually agreed that neither of us was in a position to give the other what they wanted, so we ended things amicably.
But damn, I was happy for a moment there.
It’s strange grieving someone you never met, and the potential of what could have been.
I don’t regret it, and I know we made the right decision. But I wish the timing had been different.
For a moment, I was happy. And I wish it had lasted a little longer.

Finance / Money KES 15K Loan, KES 28.7K Repayment — Is This Normal in Kenya?

Post image
80 Upvotes

I wanted to borrow KES 15K and these payment terms shocked me. I was looking to borrow KES 15,000 and came across a loan offer where the figures were:

  • - Loan amount: KES 15,000
  • - Interest: KES 13,725
  • - Total repayment: KES 28,725
  • - First payment: KES 2,250
  • - First payment date: 4th November

Basically, I borrow 15K and I'm expected to pay back almost 29K.

That's an extra KES 13,725, or about 91.5% of the amount borrowed, and apparently this is over a very short period.

Am I the only one who finds these terms completely crazy? At what point does a loan become so expensive that it's basically predatory lending?

For those who've used digital lenders in Kenya, what's the most reasonable rate/terms you've come across for a 15K loan? I'm genuinely curious whether this is now normal in the Kenyan digital lending space or whether I've just found an exceptionally bad deal.

Ask r/Kenya How is this guy still in, since 2000's buana?😂

Post image

In 2015 this dude gave us a banger, that I'd play till the day I die and the song was "Something for you" and that hit made me his biggest fan. Down the line, he made Oliel and TBT and some songs that blew up back then and today I decide to jump into his new albums and releases and I feel carried...Why? This guy has the same rap style and same music style and funny enough he even adds a little bit of kenyan local lingua to his music to make it more interesting and it's crazy how it really fits...

I'm wondering though, are the claims that he buys views and listens true, hakuna mtu anapenda this dude for real for real?

Although I give him my flowers, sometimes his music becomes boring because it's translation of English to swahili, I'm sure octopizo would something like "Wananiita octopus, Juu mi ni pweza, vile nimeweza namba nane, yani eight town"😂

Casual Co-parenting

So,today it just hit me...it's been 1 year since me and my bd had a word exchanges cos of our child, last year in sept we really insulted each other juu ya mtoto,to a point of deciding the nanny will be the point of contact(after i insulted him back too very badly)...you know being the small person too😂😂😂😂....

Now fast forward to this year, our son went over and he decided kumpeleka check up for reasons i can't say here....we were talking on call more often around the issue na while he was at the doctor cos i needed to answer some doc questions about mtoi.... and in that whole interaction, sth stood out,we disagreed on a few things but nobody threw insults at each other(sometimes he was raising voice)...but didn't call be stupid. or mjinga...i was buffled at the big change between now and last year....maybe we've grown up or...i don't know...but today's encounter showed a very big difference, probably we have grown in our coparenting journey....it made me happy not to receive an insult fr or say not get scared to pick the call(i kid you not in 2024 to part of 2025 i used to shake nikiona his call cos i don't know if i'll be insulted)😂😂😂😂

Anyway, praying for even better and peaceful coparenting days

Casual Friends.

So I have this friend... He calls me to check on me. We start talking and he asks me how I got into the predicament I am in. (Struggling with life). I start explaining and he finds it humorous. When I tell him about a particular situation he chimes in and starts to talk about himself.

I didn't even finish talking and excused myself.

Discussion What do you do when you've been left with a handbag?

Today after work, I was just about to walk past the gate when I heard someone calling me. At that moment I looked back and I just saw it was my walking partner. We always go the same route so we just walk together till we reach the stage where we board a matatu.

She had a handbag and she told me to carry it for her. She said she was rushing to the toilet. I thought maybe it was an emergency or something similar to that. I was really reluctant to remain with her handbag because it was very feminine. It was pink and it had looked like those ones for bad bichess.

I wanted to ask her, " Mbona unaniachia bag, Bag ni ya nini?".

Before I could ask, she had already gone. I wanted to place the handbag on the ground but I said to myself that it'll get dirty. So I lifted it and tried to put it on top of a pillar. I was just not comfortable holding that bag.

I told myself that I'll guard that bag like a dog. I would just not touch it. It just seemed awkward because it was in front of the gate.

" Bothjob, unafanya nini na bag za wasichana?"

I heard one of the most feminine and suprano voices ask me that. I looked behind and she was cute.

" Ushaanza kubebea wasichana bag, umepata mtu sindio?"

I was left speechless. I really didn't know what to say. She smiled at me and went to board a matatu nearby. That is when my walking patner came and I just told her, " Karibu unitoe soko".

She just laughed and we went on to tell other stories.

Casual Your social media is how people perceive you

As a recovering introvert I am learning that posting your achievements, ambitions, activities and thoughts will help people be curious and interested in you as a person. This is true for professional, casual and romantic relationships as people believe what you show then, not what you say. And as a person who is smarter and more talented than meets the eye, posting on social media has helped my relationships with people aligned to my lifestyle, ambitions, work and love life. Just try it, it works like a charm.

Religion So what exactly is Biblical marriage for men?

Post image
• Upvotes

I took this picture a few weeks ago. As I was eating my lunch, this old frail couple came and sat. I unwittingly start observing them. So this guy leads the prayer for the food. He then starts carefully unwrapping that kebab and hands it over to the wife then goes for his. Oh I just noticed the ring on his finger as well.

You see in Scripture men are commanded to love their wives and the model is how Christ loved the church. The moment you marry your wife is the moment you die to self. She is your primary focus. She comes before your kids. You know I was reading 1 Peter and it said treat your wife with honor and understanding so that your prayers may not be hindered. Can you imagine that badly treating your wife can actually hinder prayers!

So if you are going to strive to please God in your marriage, you basically have to become a 'simp' by these stupid worldly standards. You simp for your wife hard. Love her with every fibre of your being. Imagine a situation where you are actively and unconditionally loving your wife and giving her all the honor, then she also actively submits to your authority as the husband, respects you, which is of course is another explicit command, that's how you end up like this couple right here.

Casual Lighter

Today I woke up determined to remove myself from the pits. I’ve had the toughest year yet. In fact I’m behind on my rent by a lot, you know how that one bill can depress the heck out of you. I’m surprised my landlady has not had my door locked yet, the Lord bless her fr.

Anyways, in an effort to raise my vibration I have committed to going back to the gym after a long hiatus. Do I have the money for this? No. Did I go today? Yes. Now I’m sleepy af😆. At least I have food ✅😊 My butt on the other hand is ON FIRE, and it feels a bit good to have burnt that excess energy somewhere else for once. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep this up one way or the other.

My fellow hoi pollois, how are we managing stress in the Kasongo’s economy? I think I have rediscovered mine.

Btw my title was inspired by the Taurus Riley song “Lighter”.

Health Marathon Fever in Nairobi

Ni kama kila mtu wa Nairobi anakimbia marathon these days!

I think it’s a good thing, though. Anything that encourages healthy living is a win. Si sherehe tu.

Wenye mnakimbia, what’s your story? What got you into running?

Na sisi wengine, what’s our excuse for not running?

Casual I guess we don't always get what we want...

And that's the biggest lesson I'm learning right now.

You see, I've always been the overachiever...

Got 423 marks out of the possible 500 marks in KCPE

Got a straight A plain in KCSE during Matiang'i's era.

And got a perfect First Class Honors in my Engineering degree - still regretting this till date.

But oh well, I guess I didn't know better.

Honestly right now I thought I'd be working an amazing job - whether in Engineering or one of the Big 4s but I wasn't lucky to get in.

So, I guess my overachievement has borne no fruits but it's ok...It's part of life, right?

Right now I'm going all in on my Errands/PA/VA business as I hope to get a proper breakthrough.

And if you're reading this and you're in a position to help this graduate with a proper paying job, please reach out...I have no preferences on the role, as long as it's a professional job.

Anyways, Errands by Rachael here...

Reach out via WhatsApp if you need help with errands/Personal Assistance:
