For those who remember, more than 2 months ago I was hit on my way to work and I made a post in here where everybody was telling me it was gonna be totaled, which was disheartening to say the least.

Even my mechanic said it was going to be totaled and I was grieving the whole time, crying for 4 days straight and the insurance also took its sweet time even though they provided a rental (ALMOST 3 WEEKS LATER MIND YOU) turns out they misfiled the body shop’s estimate and I had to call them myself for updates around that 3 weeks mark and that’s when they sent the estimator to check my car, just then🧍🏻‍♀️. At this point I still thought it was gonna be totaled and a couple days later when I called back the lady from the insurance said something like “your case was sent to the total loss department” my heart sinked. But they double checked and they did approve the repair!!!! A month and two weeks after the accident and then it took almost another month to get it done. The body shop even had to get me a new battery because the other one died when they were trying to run all the tests.

I feel so lucky that the damage wasn’t as bad as I thought and the guy from the body shop is also a family friend so I believe he helped a lot keeping the estimate reasonable so the insurance didn’t deemed it as total loss.

That’s the whole story, I’m so happy we were all wrong and to have Kenny The Cooper back🥺 here are the pics from the accident/original post and how he looks now after the repairs also my first rule #1 since he’s back my heart is so full💙💙💙

P.S. I’m wanting to commemorate this journey getting him some stripes and the pink just feels right for me and I know pink with the blue won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but it’ll be very unique and it’ll fulfilled my Barbie car dreams. Last pic is how it’d look like

For anyone that’s interested…2 sets of golf clubs in stand bags fit in a 2027 mini cooper convertible trunk or laying flat in back seat. Fit in trunk if take out drivers and lay flat in back seat if take out all woods.

They say the Mini is one of the most personalised car. Would love some tips and tricks to make the car personalised to me. I’ve already popped an order in for a key fob cover!

Asked if I could swap for a BMW 5 series to this and no regrets at all. The people at the rental company thought I was crazy but I told them once you own a mini and drive one then you will understand.

For those of you who have a countryman 4 door, can you show me a pic of what it looks like with a car seat inside?

I do not have kids but in case I have a baby in the future I’m curious to see what the set up would be. It looks pretty roomy in the backseat when I test drove one yesterday! This will be my first mini cooper

Update: I bought a 2018 mini countryman all se (90k miles, Arkansas) earlier this year. The hybrid battery needed replaced. After 8 months of in and out of a shop that said they could fix it. Certified and everything. They tried and couldn’t. I finally took it to a mini dealership. They looked at it and turns out the shop lied. They never replaced the battery. The battery is on back order with no eta. I took the photos they sent of where it nuts didn’t look turned etc. The estimate and asked for a refund and they gave the refund.

So now the mini dealership is asking $7k to replace a single module and possibly more could need to be replaced. What would you do?
As of now I have 17k in it at least with getting it tagged and smaller repairs I made before I took it to the shop.

I feel like it’s been a rollercoaster so far with this car, any help is appreciated.

Was thinking about getting a new JCW 2 door and am wondering what the negotiations are like. Can you get one for under MSRP or is there typically a mark up on these. Don’t want to go in completely naïve.

This is my first time owning a mini but not the first European car I’ve had.

I am taking home a loaner today to see how I feel with driving since I have an hour commute to work each day (50 miles to work/100 round trip). I haven’t negotiated the price much but will once they see my trade in. It’s estimated to be $3-6k trade in (my husband is a manager at another dealership and gave me a rough ballpark price).

They drafted a sheet and said it was $44,740 (fees/taxes included) before we negotiate.

If we negotiate and get a good price before finance, what should I negotiate for the warranty when I get in the back? I heard I can wait to buy an extended warranty later on years down the road but should I do that or get the extended due to the miles I put on my car (~20k a year).

I am not exaggerating when I say I’ve wanted one of these cars for 25 years. Been driving a 2014 minivan for a decade, and finally can comfortably afford it. Plus, our last kid graduates next year so practicality is no longer a concern.
I had been planning to really start shopping in December, but she popped up locally and checked damn near every box. I knew what needed to be done.

Hello everyone, my 2008 r56 mini makes a loud noise about half the time my clutch is pressed in and occasionally it'll be difficult to shift into 1st or 2nd. I have a transmission fluid swap planned for Friday but I've also read it could be the blow out bearing, clutch fork, or the flywheel. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.
