Is it just me or is the amount of senior-only apartment complexes going up kind of crazy?

So its in the local news today that they're building an "affordable" apartment complex in East Aurora, which sounds great - and then as i read on, its senior housing only of course.

Its starting to seem like there's becoming a real surplus of senior-exclusive apartment complexes in the area, its damn near impossible to find affordable apartments that are for actual young or even middle age people. I feel like thats starting to become a serious problem, and it was a few years ago too but now its getting worse. Like are we building housing? Yeah sure, but how much good is that supposed to do for the area as a whole if that new housing being built is just for seniors? So that the upper-middle class can purchase their vacated homes and the people that need affordable housing are still screwed and underserved?

Question Subaru Owners. Who do you go to for service?

• Upvotes

I have a 2016 Impreza that needs brake work, caliper work and just generally needs a new mechanic. Past couple places I've been to broke parts and expected me to pay for them or just sent me out thinking things were ok. I need a place that's trustworthy and that does what they say they're going to do. Thanks for your time!

Duplicate/Repost Buffalo Itinerary Help?

Hi folks, hope this is okay.

I tried to find a sticky/wiki but couldn't see one so don't know if it exists.

I'm looking for suggestions for how best to enjoy your lovely city next week on Nov 3 (late afternoon/early evening) and Nov 4 (whole day). And also places to eat and drink that are quintessentially Buffalo?

I'm currently looking at the Burchfield Penney Art Center and the Buffalo History Museum on the 4th, but blanking on the rest.

I have the Martin House tour and AKG pegged for another day.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Question Recommendations for restaurants?

Tomorrow, my best friend and I are traveling 2 ½ - 3 hours to Buffalo to watch Wicker in 4DX. We're looking for recommendations for restaurants to eat at, either before or after the movie, we really haven't figured out when yet.

However, the only thing is that I can't eat red meat due to a health condition, so we would need somewhere that can also accommodate my food restrictions. All cuisine is welcome.

Thank you. :)

Plant donation

Does anyone know of any places where I can donate houseplants? I know Put a Plant On It used to have a little free plant library, but I didn’t see it outside the last time I drove by. Looking for somewhere I can drop off a few plants!

Things To Do “Naza” film in Buffalo.

I just saw the 1:00 showing of this investigative documentary on the mechanics of Israel's slaughter of Palestinians at downtown’s Market Arcade. Wow. Searing. I can see why Netanyahu and his ilk don’t want people to see it. But I was surprised to be the only person there. For anyone interested, it ends this Thursday.

Question Membership based doctors office

I’ve read through all the previous posts on recommendations for a new doctor/did my own research but then realized almost no one takes my insurance. I’m getting really frustrated because I feel like I’m at a dead end with trying to find care. I know some providers are opting to not take insurance and just use a membership based plan so I’d like to look into that option but wanted to see if anyone on here knows of some??

Looking for help finding a posted video on Reddit involving Grand Island Bridge and a tractor trailer.

There was an accident involving a tractor trailer that hit the Grand island Bridge. Some time within the last month. He lost his load of lumber made a huge mess. There was a post apparently with a video of the aftermath. I don’t think anyone was seriously injured. But I know the company that was involved and would love to see the video. I have had zero luck locating it, probably because of post title. The driver will never admit he was involved. Type of guy that loves to brag about how great he is at everything. Having this video would bring joy to multiple people that work with this guy. If anyone has it or has seen what sub it was posted in, please help me out.

Duplicate/Repost Be honest with me

So, my wife and I are planning to move to Buffalo in March 2027. We’re both 27 and we’re both haunted by our past mistakes with credit cards/joblessness/eviction/car repossession. we definitely hit rock bottom for a while.

BUT! we’re doing really well now. We have a new car that’s up to date on payments, we‘ve stayed in good standing with our current landlord, and I’m sure he would be willing to vouch for us.

Unfortunately, both of our credit scores are tanked in the 500s. We have friends/family with better credit that are willing to co-sign.

We have a good work history. I work as a medical scribe from home while I complete a masters program online in healthcare administration. I’m also a nanny which pays really well, more than my medical scribing job. My wife is a tattoo artist making decent money, and she also nanny’s. We’re already looking for new families to work with in Buffalo. We’ve been working for the same family for 5 years now.

We’re living in Virginia now, and we’ve only lived in apartment complexes. from research that I’ve seen so far, a lot of the apartment options in Buffalo are more multi-family home which I’m assuming means private landlords? so I guess I say all that to say, do you the Reddit people of Buffalo think we will get approved to rent an apartment anywhere in Buffalo? Is it harder to get approved by a private landlord?

Central Terminal from the air, as published in December 1930. The 1907 plan for this site came with a commuter line on the Belt Line, a small downtown station for tickets and baggage, and streetcars to serve it. Only the station was built.
