Yesterday, randomly, I lost access to my 10+ year old account and so I created a new one and started subbing to most of the same subs I've traditionally used, just starting fresh.
With my new account, an overwhelming amount of comments that I see on posts are by [deleted] users, with posts rarely more than an hour or two old. I'd see [deleted] users occassionally but usually on older threads that I discover through Google, or whatever. There are recent threads, news worthy threads, where every post and every reply are [deleted] users. Is this a bug? Are these bots? I assume this is the comment recommendation algorithm, what choices are made in designing the recommendation algorithm for me that would bubble up dozens and dozens of comments, and their subsequent nested replies, with all [deleted] user accounts.
Screenshot is an example it's some random news article today about the Sec. of Defense possibly running for Senate in Tennessee.
I haven't had a new reddit account in ... 10 years, so is this common for every new account? I had assumed these were bots, but if there are... hundreds of posts and replies that are all just bots, and tha's the new user experience? It's weird.
