Mental Health I keep involuntarily making sounds, noises, words and shouts for no reason and I don’t know why?

So, I don’t know if I’m in the right place for this, but I hope so.

This has been getting worse over the last 3 years- I repeatedly keep feeling the need, when alone or with my partner, to make noises. It varies from making unintelligible noises, to words (sometimes saying hello/ good night/ goodbye, especially if my partner is in the room), to swearing at nobody / nothing at all. I just said fuck off twice to an empty room in a sing song voice and I have no idea why.

It’s not really something I want to go to a doctor about (particularly as frankly, healthcare in my country really won’t care about this) and so far I’m managing to not have the impulses around other people so it’s not life ruining

I just want to know why I can’t seem to stop it…

Life Decisions Should I quit my part-time job if I'm feeling burnt out with school and other responsibilities?

Hi everyone,

I actually posted a similar question in r/careerguidance, but I wanted to see what people here think as well.

I'm a 3rd-year college student majoring in CS, and I'm considering quitting my part-time job as a pharmacy tech. I only work about once a week for 6-7 hours, but lately I feel like I'm burning out.

This semester I'm taking 5 classes, I'm a commuter, and I also do research at my university. The research is pretty flexible since most of it can be done on my computer, and the professor I work with is very laid back about deadlines and scheduling.

Some days I leave home around 6:30 AM and don't get back until 6:00-7:30 PM. On those days, I have absolutely no energy left to study or do homework. By the time the weekend comes around, I just want to sleep, relax, and recover from the week. After work, I usually feel so drained that I end up watching Netflix, scrolling TikTok, or doing anything except schoolwork. Then I feel guilty because I know I should be using that time to study.

One thing that makes this decision easier is that I already accepted a co-op offer for the spring that will pay about $10/hour more than my pharmacy tech job. Also, money isn't a huge concern right now because I'm fortunate enough that my parents cover my tuition and most of my expenses.

On the other hand, I feel guilty about the idea of having no income for a few months. I like contributing to my Roth IRA and investing a little money here and there.

Another thing holding me back is that I'm a very introverted and socially awkward person. Honestly, this job is one of the only things that forces me to interact with coworkers and customers, and I feel like it's helped me get a little more comfortable talking to people. If I quit, I'm worried I'll lose that.

There are also a couple of toxic coworkers who can really ruin my mood some days, which definitely doesn't help.

So I'm kind of torn. Part of me thinks I should focus on school, research, my health, and getting sufficient rest. The other part of me worries I'll regret quitting, losing income, and stepping away from one of the few situations that pushes me out of my comfort zone socially.

What would you do in my situation? Do you think quitting sounds reasonable, or am I overlooking something?

Thanks for any advice.
