In the sim I play AC and AC Evo (street cars only) on a simagic alpha mini, cheap H shifter, and a single 42” flat screen.
I have a first generation 86 with minimal performance mods (brake pads, fluid, 200tw tires, and camber bolts). I have previously completed 90 mins total at Streets of willow springs in SoCal. The car performed beautifully while I was lacking. I will be heading back to the same track in a month.
I don’t have an ego and I will point by anyone I see behind me. I am definitely losing a lot of seconds in the braking zone after a long straight. Threshold braking is scary AF and my heel toe downshifts are ass. The additional information I feel from the car in real life is a bit overwhelming compared to sim racing.
My goals for sim racing is purely to become a better driver on track in my own car. What are some common mistakes sim players make when driving on track? What should I focus my practice on in the sim before my next track day?

My favorite circuit is Mount Panorama, located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
Bathurst is absolutely insane : it has a huge 174-meter elevation change, with a really steep climb and a super dramatic descent. The track is extremely technical, especially up on the mountain, where it’s narrow, twisty, and lined with walls, so even the smallest mistake can cost you. Down below, though, there are long straights where the cars go over 300 km/h. And the craziest part is that outside race weekends, it turns back into a regular public road open to everyone. On top of that, it hosts legendary events like the Bathurst 1000 and the Bathurst 12 Hour

It’s just amazing what you can find on fb marketplace. I’ve been slowly building my rig for a while now mainly with second hand stuff. I’ve had a few bargains but after suffering with a Playseat Chalkenge for so long I was looking to upgrade to cheap rig and was very worried about the sturdiness of the cheaper options. Then on marketplace I find this TrakRacer Tr8 v1 for £150 with next level seat and all peripherals. Very happy. Keep thinking I really ought to have DD wheelbase too but I just love the TGT-II.
This is pre cable tidy btw 🤣

It just does not get much better. Please enjoy a bunch of screenies from two very-very wet races.
The Viper GTS-R at Catalunia and the Aston Martin DBR-9 at Spa.
It is a great workout both for feet and hands. Like dancing a salsa while juggling at the same time.

My racing sim is ready to try out. Here is a little re-enactment of Adelaide '94, the Michael Schumacher incident.
The next time Schumi tried this was in 1997. Got himself disqualified from the entire championship for it. But in 1994 for some reason he got away with it!
The game runs on top of your original copy of Grand Prix 2 by Geoff Crammond from 1996 and updates it with a modern 3D engine, GPU acceleration, GP4 mod packs and more.
Hope you enjoy it folks!

I've finally completed my setup. For those who are interested in buying RS stuff from Logitech, I recommend it. I had to drill 2 holes for the clamp and also purchase longer bolts to mount the handbrake. But it all works perfectly now.
I've only tested EA WRC and Forza Horizon 6 so far, but I plan to buy more racing games.
Ask away if anyone has any questions about these specific products.

Hey all, I’m looking to upgrade my rig, mainly for rally (DiRT Rally 2.0, RBR), and I’m deciding between a 3DOF and a 6DOF motion system. Both would be coupled with an active belt tensioner.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I’m planning an EU road trip next year and along the way I will be heading to the Nurburgring for a few laps with my mk7 GTI. I’m just looking to see has anyone had any experience or advice on what to expect. Will it be the same layout as it is in iracing and the rest of the sims and what would be the best way to practise? I know it won’t identical but if anyone has any advice from sim to real life please let me know!
I’ve never driven on a track before so I will obviously not be pushing crazy as I would on a sim lol.
Thanks

I've seen quite a few negative posts about the update. It looks like it's not worked out for some people, but personally, I'm impressed. I've noticed a few little bugs, like the option menu freezing when changing certain things, but overall, it's a thumbs up from me. I've noticed my FPS going up, I'd guess by 10/15% with everything maxed, and the FFB feels better too. I can't really complain for a sim that's free, and since I've got all my content on sale, I'd say I've probably spent £30/40 overall on cars and tracks.

Hey everybody, I've been simracing on iRacing since August of last year, and I've had a blast with it so far. I mostly do oval racing, sitting near 3k, and do some road racing on the side. When I got my equipment, I went with budget options, a Moza R3 along with the SR-P lite pedals.
Now that I've been doing this for a while now, I was looking at an upgrade. For right now, I can only choose one upgrade, and I was hoping for some advice. I would either upgrade my wheelbase from the R3 to the R12, or I could get load-cell pedals (and maybe a clutch pedal as well). I'm just not sure what the better option would be without a frame of reference for how they would feel in comparison. Thanks in advance!

I'm a (lapsed) console racer, so I was excited to see the Fanatec Project Obsidian wheel prototype, with a built-in UDP-compatible screen and so many rotaries & encoders. I saw that one of the most common complaints was the lack of buttons (6 on the front plus two on the back), with one person saying that there weren't enough buttons on the wheel to support their iRacing setup.
I know that rotaries and thumb encoders are used to adjust settings mid race, and you need to be able to navigate menus with a thumb stick or funky switch of some kind, but I am curious what people are using their steering wheel buttons to do.

Adding 2 pieces of thin rubber, or in my case half a piece of heat shrink in between the ball detents and the ball, it’ll drastically quiet down the loud clunk when shifting. Idk how long it’ll last, but I’m going to experiment with a thin piece of rubber next, and also try printing a thin piece of tpu and see how that holds up. I previously used foam at first but it quickly squished and became useless like I thought it would.
Pretty simple install, but it does require disassembling practically everything. Well worth it tho, my rig is nearly silent now.
Here’s a before video. Couldn’t attach it to the main post.

if you've upgraded from the SRP GT-R or GT-S pneumatic pedals to active pedals I'd love to hear your experience with it.
I'm seeing all these new active options and it's making me wonder if I'm missing out on something huge.

Just graduated and moved into a small apartment. I always want to get a serious DD setup, but there's no way I can put a full cockpit in my room and finally I ended up getting a PXN VD6.
Been playing Assetto Corsa on PC for about a week now and the difference is sooo noticeable compared to G29. 6Nm feels plenty for me right now and the steering feels way smoother than what I was used to. I can actually feel the car going over curbs! Even when I push too hard into a corner, it's easier to tell when the front tires start losing grip.
And I was worried that this desk might wobble around when I'm turning the wheel too hard. But actually the clamp is solid and reliable. I'd say this update is a great success and Black friday is coming up, I'm tempted to upgrade something else. What do you suggest that can really improve the experience? A pedal or a GT wheel?

I have a line on this seat for a planned sim build. Having a hard time finding any info on. Has anyone come across this brand or style before? They are only asking 120 so I think I’ll try to pick it up regardless.

Question sounds a little bit "stupid" but I just got my masters degree and my parents gave me money to invest more into one of my hobbies. (or go to a vacation, doesn't matter)
As I enjoy simracing more than ever (even participated in the 24h of Le Mans), I am thinking if I want someting for my simrig, problem is: I don't really have the feeling that I need "more", but I also don't know how wheels etc. evolved in the past 5 years.
My current setup is:
I do also hvae buttkicker and a general bass shaker mounted beneath the brakes to work as rumpling effect but with the delay + LMU not being able to generate lock up properly in SimHub (or am I wrong), I currently don't use it.
Unfortunately, I don't have the space for a motion rig - that is something I really would be interested but we would have to move xD
I was thinking of getting a new wheel with a display, I thought that the GSI Hyper P1 looks great and I mainly driver HY in LMU.
But I also read that they are a little bit overpriced as they feel still "plasty" and "toyish" compared to other wheels so I am a little bit overwhelmed what I should look at.
I saw the reviews of the Bavarian SimTec but then again, don't know if that would even be a "step up" from my current wheel as I don't really missed a lot in my 24h race in Le Mans.
I just noticed that I am barely using my current dashboard as it is "small" and a little bit further away (it is sitting behind the wheel on the base), so maybe if it was built directly into the wheel, I would use it more?
Unfortunately, I just missed Simexpo, so maybe I wait and see next year, what there is on the market.

Hey everyone,
I've been upgrading my Setup along the years and now I'm on this pedal and wheelbase combo;
- simagic alpha ultimate 23NM
- simcube active pedal pro + copedal
I bought my first cockpit TR80lite 4 years ago, and unfortunately it's starting to give up, pedal plate flex, flex on the wheel base deck, so it's time for an upgrade.
Currently I have three options in sight but if anyone knows any better feel free to recommend;
-VRS GT2 cockpit
-Simlab P1X PRO
-Trackracer TR160
I'm looking for an "buy once and forget" option, of course if cheaper better, thats why im waiting until Black Friday.
Does anyone have one of these following Cockpits or any other recommendations.
(I cant find any reviews on the VRS GT2)
